Mission Blonde Ale

Mission Blonde Ale

Kolsch-Style Ale. Our Blonde ale is a crisp and refreshing golden ale. Modeled after the kolsch-style ales from Cologne (Köln), Germany,
our blonde ale has a clean, lager-like character, and a smooth, balanced bitterness. The authentic kolsch yeast strain
provides a subtle fruitiness, which compliments the Liberty and Hallertau hops used for flavor and aroma. 20 IBU

3.7 Poured into a stange. 3.0 A: Lightly hazed medium yellow color. About one finger of frothy white head. Retention is below average and just a wisp of lacing is left. 4.0 S: This smells pretty damn good. Clean, grainy maltiness. Grassy hoppiness with light floral and earthy notes. Simple, yet elegant like the style is supposed to be. 4.0 T: Like the nose, simple and wonderful. Grainy malts with just enough neutral malt sweetness. Grassy hops foremost and floral and earthy undertones. Super clean. 4.5 M: Medium body, which is the perfect amount for this. Good moderate carbonation. Good creaminess and supremely smooth. 4.5 D: This beer is damn drinkable. It’s tasty and refreshing. No problems at all. Simply great. ★ 725 characters DavoleBomb, Sep 07, 2013
2.5 Amerikaans blond bier. Dit is eerlijk gezegd geen fantastisch bier. Smaakt een beetje zeepsop-erig zelfs.
3.0 Draught at Östersunds Maltfestival 2015-02-28 Östersund AR: tinned pineapple, foot sweet AP: very pale golden, no hed F: fizzy, tinned pineapple in syrup, watery, wee bready
2.9 Fizzy yellow beer as they say...residual sweetness distracts. Not the best kosher blah. As there are good kohl she’s out there.
2.7 keg at the taproom in SD, 12/11/14. Clear light golden blonde with a moderate off white covering. Nose is pale malt, straw, citric peel, lemon notes. Taste comprises straw, pale malt, cereal, light vanilla, citric peel. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation, semi drying close. Dull.
3.4 Pours pale yellow with a medium white head...thin soapy lacing. Aroma has light grass and sweet straw...just a touch of fruitiness. Flavor follows suit...clean and grassy with light malty straw...tea-like and minerally. Mouthfeel is light but creamy with a dry and straw/mild grass finish. Very subtle beer and quite possibly boring at times but refreshing and quaffable.
2.5 "Pretty standard fare, here. Expected from a blonde. light toast, a decent amount of floral hops, and a lack of body and finish catergorize this one. Ho hum."
2.7 Hazy golden color, small white head. Aroma of white pepper. Taste is lager like. OK.
2.0 Poured from a bottle into a pint glass served in Denver. I unfortunately forgot to stir up the yeast before I emptied, but will do a redo ASAP.
2.3 On tap at Pipes of Scotland. Slightly hazy golden with white head. Aroma and taste has lots of butter, some malt, Belgian yeast, wet grain and mild grass
2.4 bottle - Pours a hazy straw color and has a grainy malt aroma. It tastes of sweet, bready malt with a bit of hops. It’s light bodied and drinkable but bland to me. It’s not really my thing.
2.5 Bottle. Pours a dark orange, hazy with minimal head. Aroma of over ripe fruit, but not quite rotten with a side of vegetables. Not clean. Taste is initially peppery with some crackery malt but otherwise is pretty flat, undercarbonated, and not good.
2.0 Bottle at the hotel in San Diego. From Whole Foods. Clear pale golden beer with a small white head.malty bready aroma, artificial, onions, floral notes. Malty caramel flavor, citrus, artificial, plastic notes. Quite bad, wont finish this one.
2.2 Pours a yellow color with a typical corn aroma. Taste is simple and easy drinking. No distinct aftertaste, too simple for my taste.
2.6 Gold color. Nice crisp flavor with a light bitter flavor. Refreshing. Smell is crisp and somewhat cereally.
3.0 April 27th, 2012 - In retrospect, I probably should have started my sampler line of Mission Brewery’s brews with the Blonde, not the Bohemian Pilsener. But I was hasty, and excited to try a new brewery. But now that I’m actually writing the notes, the blond was not exactly pale and effete. From this baby-faced, light straw colored beer comes a nose sloshing with apple cider vinegar punch, and a puff of cinnamon. The spiciness isn’t baking spices, but its related, reminding me of mulled cider. The flavor is similarly distinguished by the cinnamon, and tastes like apple sauce or cider peppered with the stuff. The carbonation is aggressive like their Bohemian Pils, but cools its heels much quicker, revealing a touch of wheat and lemon in the aftertaste. It’s a flavor filled kolsch, and solid on the palate, but perhaps a little monotone and heavy on the apple notes.
3.0 Bottle at SlutFest 2011 on 04/23/2011. Clear pale golden body with a small white head. Sweet floral and light grassy aroma. Sweet grassy and floral hop flavor with a light malt background. Medium light body with moderately high carb.
3.5 Draft at the brewery - San Diego. Pours clear gold with a creamy white head. Sugary white bread in the nose. Light to medium sweet flavor with doughy malts, white bread, light hay and floral hops. Light bodied with average carbonation. Balanced finish, some sweet cereal, dry dough, crusoy white bread, straw. Simple but very drinkable.
2.8 Bottle poured a crystal clear light yellow hue w/ small fizzy white quickly diminishing head. Moderate grain aroma. Initial flavor is a light sweet w/ a crisp moderate bitter finish of short duration. Tastes are hay, straw, and bread. Light bodied, lively carbonation, and a dry finish.
2.4 Draft at beer fest. Pours pale yellow with minimal head. The aroma has a tart lemon and grain. The taste is corn and grain. Meh.
2.9 . Chjgffjsjjdhhsjshjsbwhkdnebjsbheihhdg
3.3 12oz bottle pours with a clear gold body that supports a thin bright white head. The aroma offers up sweet malts, grainy malts, sweet lime candy and then a bit of floral hops. The taste is similar with a mix of sweet sugary malts, floral hops and sweet lime hard candy with some grainy malts coming to the surface a moment later. The hops do get more bitter to midway but not enough to overcome the sweetness. Not that great, this is just too sweet and it lacks the crispness and lightness of a good example of the style. I’ll need to re-do this one fresh on tap when I get a chance.
3.2 Pours a clear yellow with a white head. Nose is light malt, some grassy hops, and some mild fruitiness. Flavor is similar with some malt, some grassy hops, and some light floral and fruity notes in the back. Light in body and interesting overall.
3.1 Pour out of 12 oz bottle clear orange pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of some biscuit, acid, bread, hints of vanilla, grass. Taste is a mix of honey, cracker, pils malt, slight acid, bread, finishing slightly grassy. Not bad, but not very flavorful.
3.0 Light blonde ale on tap at the brewery in san diego, overall decent, easy to drink, bitter
2.8 12 ounce bottle, poured a light yellow color with aromas of bread, pilsner malt, and grain. Flavors are the same, bland, nothing special.
2.6 Pours yellow-gold with a quickly diminishing medium white head. Aroma is pilsener malts all day long. Taste, like the head, is a quickly diminishing sharp pilsener flavor smoothing out to light grains for a quick finish. A good transition for those graduating from "monopoly beers".
3.2 On tap at Hops and Pie poured a hazy gold with a small lingering white head. Aromas of bread, earthiness and light fruittiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, earthiness and light citrus with a crisp dry finish.
2.8 Not much to smell here. Hardly any head and little lacing. Simple body. Hop and malty flavor. A bit bready. Nice blonde, distinctive Kolsch style though. Not a bad beer- easy to drink and mildly flavored.
3.7 Inviting, cereal aroma. Great label, standard US longneck, foggy gold beer, fluffy head. Very nice - perhaps the best Kolsh I’ve ever had. Crisp, cereal, nicely bittered, low complexity. Medium body, effervescent, long hop finish. This was a beer made for food - pizza, burgers, fried chicken. Important to note that I’m sampling this after coming off a 115° Phoenix AZ run, back to 95° Tallahassee heat and 99% humidity. Recommended, especially for one fof my least fave styles. ABC Liquors, Betton.
