Mission Shipwrecked Double IPA

Mission Shipwrecked Double IPA

A style of beer curiously born on the foggy shores of Father Junipero Serra’s first founding mission. Our own vigorous entry is one rebellious IPA, quick on the trigger, and brimming with a bounty of hop ingenuity. This is a big, bold, brazen beer, a restless vision of a new America.

3.6 Bomber, thanks Christina! Caramel malt aroma with pine and citrus hop notes. Pours cloudy amber colored with a large off white head that has excellent retention and some lacing. Starts with sweet caramel malt and some citrus hop flavors. Finishes dry and bitter with big pine resiny hoppiness and bitterness that coats the palate. Pretty good, but a little bitter on the finish.
3.9 Bottle 33cl. Pours orange-red with a small white head. Aroma is malted, hoppy and spicy. A very early bitterness with a fruity hint. Overall an aggresive beer, with a long lasting bitterness. [08/2016]
Olor a maltas y lúpulos, super concentrado. Decente.
3.3 Slightly hazy dark orange pour with large creamy head. Aroma of caramel malts, pine, fruit and hops. Taste of caramel malts, toffee, orange fruit, grapefruit, pine and massive hops. Full bodied, medium carbonation, heavy hop finish. A hop lovers dream, a little too much for me though.
3.3 Bottle 35,5cl. Dark orange with a small off white head. Malty aroma with some hops in the background. Strong taste, where the alcohol is clearly present. Medium length
4.0 Bottle. It pours hazy amber with a creamy off white head. The aroma is biscuit malty with berry like and floral hoppy notes. Light sweet marmalade. Creamy malty flavor with citrus and floral hoppy notes. Sweet toffee notes with biscuit and marmalade. Really tasty and even though it’s to the sweet side the floral and berry parts are very well joined up here. Lovely. No sign at all of the high abv.
3.7 Pours a copper-amber color with soft off-white head. Syrupy hoppy-pine aroma. Balanced, but hop-forward....clean but there is a lingering sticky piney-hop flavor.
3.2 Brown red color with foam layer. Forest hoppy nose. Very creamy and oily feeling with a dry and foresty hoppy bitter and light tart taste. Dry and bitter aftertaste.
3.9 12fl oz bottle at home from Kaapse Brouwers, Rotterdam. Nose is tropical fruits, citrus, hint of champagne. Body is hazy orange, head is small, beige, creamy, mostly lasting, excellent lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, tropical fruits, milk chocolate, light bonbon, raisin. Medium sweet, light bitter, light fruity and citric sour. Finish is long lasting hoppy medium to heavy bitter, short lasting light sour, hint of salt, light alcohol warmth. Full body, thick texture, average carbonation. Not quite easy, very flavorful, nice one.
3.5 Nose is light citric but with clear malty notes. Nose the same and taste revealed that again. Palate a little fading but still rich. Overall rather good.
Mycket balanserad Dipa. Inga toner av 9% alkohol Bara smakförstärkare kanon.
3.5 Bottle from Firma Bier, large sample. Clear amber color, medium rocky head. Aroma of tea, bit pine, grapefruit, slight spicy rye or something, some caramel, bready, slight herbal. Lot more fruit in taste, medium bitterness, slight bready malt. Bit dry in the finish, slight alcohol. Decent malt forward DIPA.
4.2 9.25%ABV. Imperial IPA. Tapped out a rich amber. 18ºSRM. Nose is heavy with a funkly fog-like fug. Aromas of fresh hemp and other more closely related herb relatives. When I sniffed this again for nose after the tasting was done and there was just the dregs slowly evaporating off the bottom of the glass, there are really thickly spicy and funky odors of sweat socks, oregano and dill...and of course that hemp-like nose. Palate is sweet with graham cracker, honey, barley bread toast. Hops are bitter, resinous, with a hint of pine. The citrus character of the hop comes through when you appreciate the bitter, the sweet and the pine-like tang at the end which is a little like chasing on grapefruit peel. Finish was medium, bitter and as mentioned above a little weedy funky. Goes on Favorites List!
3.3 0,33l bottle at home. No noticeable BB date. amber hazy color, small off-white head. smells of pines, caramel, lemon grass, spices, peppery, flowery, parfume, light fruit notes, herbs. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of caramel, some pines, herbal, citric fruits, lemon grass, peppery, spices, quiet candiish. finishes rather sweet and with some bitterness with notes of pines, pepper and lemon grass. OKish, expected a lot more, quite malt heavy, also a bit old-hoppish / lightly oxidized. quite average, rather heavy.
3.4 Bottle @Berggrens källare. Cloudy amber color. Resinous pine, oranges, tangerines, toffee caramel. Taste is heavily bitter from start to finish. Lingering grape like bitterness. Low level of Aroma for a dip.
2.6 Bottle. Pours clean, orange in colour, nice white head. Aroma of citrusy hops, very weak, signs of oxidation noticable. In taste lightly sweet, dry with solid bitter finish. In the finish just a hint of alcohol. Not bad but unfortunately a bit old.
3.6 12 ounce bottle pours a nice orange amber color with just a bit of haze. Some dank piney aromas Nice lasting off white creamy head. A ton of flavor and carbonation. A lot of Hoppin bitterness and also a bit harsh. Not bad but not smooth either.
3.6 1 quart can - pours a semi hazy amber with a fluffy light tan head. Good solid aroma with big pine resin, bitter orange peel and a toffee like sweetness. A mouthful is full of flavors like the aroma - intense bitter citrus, fresh pine notes, bitter floral and a sweet biscuitness. Long aftertaste and virtually no booziness

4.0 On tap at brewery, pretty clear with a haze. Orange and bubbly nice big white head. Malty sweet a little with pine and mango aroma. Taste a little sweet with bitter hop finish.
3.6 Bottle at home. Aroma of ripe tropical fruits, malt, biscuit, pine resin, orange, hops. Flavour is just over moderate sweet with a moderate to medium bittersweet finish. Body is medium to full. A rather malty IIPA, but well-rounded and smooth drink.
