Moa Methode Pilsner

Moa Methode Pilsner

Moa Methode Pilsner is a clean, crisp lager with a dry finish. A late throw of Pacifica and Motueka hops gives some upfront citrus aromatics, and the champagne yeast used in secondary fermentation imparts complex spicy characters.

Tasting Notes

Moa Methode is a German style pilsner with a high bitterness balanced with a relatively full mouth feel. Citrus hop characters dominate aroma with the presence of fresh bread yeast notes. It can either be poured carefully off the lees or alternatively with the lees mixed in if a strong yeast character is desired. Moa Methode is a complex pilsner best served in a pilsner glass at approximately 6˚C to maximise aromatic release.

3.7 Bottle from bws, gold coast. Hazy light golden color, white head. Aroma is crispy pilsner, malty, hoppy and some yeast. Pure hoppy taste, high co2, malty body on the back. Excellent pilsner.
3.0 750ml bottle into pint glass. Champagne bottle with cork! Spicy hop nose. Pepper? Cloudy amber with towering white head which isn’t going anywhere. This has mad hair! Creamy mouthfeel leading to nice fruity hop finish. Quality beer but every pour leads to an Everest of foam. Weird exuberance.
3.2 Light body and very clean taste from the beginning to the end yet its aroma is quite considerable. This beer will make it the perfect summer night with a right jazzy tune. Very enjoyable pilz and just like champagne for beer lover!
3.5 An enjoyable brew that combines a fruity aroma and flavour with a dry body and finish. One of the better beers from Moa.
3.7 Hazy yellow/orange beer with a white foam. Nice malty, soapy and grassy aroma. Crispy carbonation. Lots of flavor. Lemon, grape fruit, grass, soap, honey, yeast. This is a really good pilsner. A little bit different than European pilsners.
3.4 Bottle from Alko. Hazy yellow color, full white head. Bitter taste with citrus, toast, hops, earthy notes, ripe fruits and grass. Bitter finish with citrus, hops, earthy notes and grass. Very nice brew.
4.0 375 ml bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy bright golden color with a 1 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense foamy lacing clings down the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the the head. Awesome appearance. Aromas of lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange zest, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of bright citrus/earthy hops and moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange zest, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange zest, cracker, bread, light pine, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and robustness of citrus/earthy hops and pale malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Very clean flavors as well, with pretty much zero yeast ester presence. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice German pilsener style. All around good balance and robustness of citrus/earthy hops and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
3.4 Hazy ochre/yellow beer , light sparkling, thin white and persistent creamy head. Nice hoppy citrus aroma, fresh, some spicyness. Soft, round feel, light body, drying finish is hoppy spicy. Nice one.
3.7 A dark yellow, hazy beer with a big, clouding and blond head. The nose has pure malts, aromatic hops, citrusfruits, some grass and kiwis. Taste has citrusfruits, grapefruits and lemon, also some tropical fruits, some light grain. The bitterness is not very strong, but it’s enough and aromatic. Fruits are dominating. Medium bodied, pleasant and smooth. Surprisingly good beer, enjoyable, smooth and fruitful.
3.3 Aroma is yeast and carbonation. Taste is very subtle and sweet malts followed by some tartiness that sticks around but doesnt overwhelming. Appearance is a cloudy gold with a fluffy pearl head that retains well.
3.5 Bottle. Hazy golden color and quite thick and lasting head. Aroma has yeast, sweet citrus and caramel. Taste is refreshing and and has nice long bitter finish. Spices, lemon, caramel, herbs and some hops in flavors. Interesting pilsner.
2.4 Upon pouring, the white foam filled the tall glass to the rim and retained well and laced well. It produced a hazy golden coloured liquid. Carbonation high and fine. Aroma subtly of sour grainy malt with a hint of spice. Taste of spices, a bit like a wit bier, plus some hops bitterness. Light body. Dry, lingering bitterness and a lingering sourness as it warmed. More like a bitter ale than a pilsner. Not for me.
3.4 Quite tasty. For me the taste is in between a german hefeweizen and a belgian saison (dupont). Some straw and funk make this interesting and enjoyable.
3.1 Really good for a pilsner. Interesting flavours of spices (almost like a Heffeweizen) with some hoppy goodness. Decent!
3.6 Bottle. Golden and slightly cloudy. A touch of spice produces a different flavour. The finish is quite sweet and left lots of lacing. Interesting.
3.5 Bottle - pours straw yellow with a haze and a big frothy white head. Grass, bread and some fruit. Some fruit on the taste with a dry bitterness across the taste. Mouthfeel is big and full.
3.6 Another volcano of head. It acted like it had been in prison too long before I released it. Once it calmed down and learn to control itself i got...some nice lacing. There’s an earthy aroma to it... with a bit of hops as well. The taste is mostly the same, flavours of straw and just a hint of the hops.
3.2 Bottle at yespr. Clear golden coloured with a small white head. Fruity aroma of caramel and spices. Fruity flavour of caramel, grass and hops. Dry hoppy finish.
2.7 bottled. Pale yellow coloured. Clear. Small off white head. ARoma. Grains, sweetness, fruits. Flavour. Sweetness, grains, grass, light herbs. Medium bodied. Ends light bitter and sweet.

2.8 33 cl. bottle. Clear golden colour with a white head. Aroma and flavour of malt, hops and citrus.
2.6 33 cL bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is toasted malty and light cornish. Toasted malty. Bitter and breadish. Bitter and dry finish.
3.3 330 ml bottle. BB 1/3/15. O'Hara's, Tampere, Finland. Cloudy golden colour with a small white head. Very nice aroma of citrus, mild tartness, mild hops and some malt. The flavour is grainy malt, dryness, dry hops, moderate bitterness and NZ hops. Dry and a bit vinous. Tasty. A nice surprise.
3.4 Bottle. Pours a hazy, golden yellow color with a large, foam-capped white head. Good bit of yeast sediment floating throughout. Limited lacing along the glass. Grassy hops, herbal notes and yeast in the aroma. Malt sweetness up front with a good amount of hop bitterness in the finish.
3.6 Visual: Elegantly foil wrapped and corked, very classy. Pours clear golden pale yellow with a nice-sized foamy head, a good layer of retention, sticky lacing, a plethora of activity. Nose: some sweet barley malt, but otherwise not much (lvl-1)-pungency Attack: super crisp, incoming barley + bitter hops Mid-palate: fizzy-airy mouthfeel, (lvl-4)-sweetness, (MAIN) barley malts, yeasty, bready, grassy Finish: subtle soft bitter hops, gentle pronounced bitter hopped finish. Summary: Good body for a pilsener, nice mouthfeel and balanced flavours.
3.8 Bottle, 06/21/2014. Golden pour, slight haze, huge rocky head, great retention and lacing. Aroma is fresh hay, floral, mild honey-like sweetness, yeast, grassy character, biscuit malts. Taste is hay, grass, mild fruity yeast character lending sweetness before drying out, mild spicy bitterness and biscuit lingering in the finish. Crisp, light body. Surprised by this one, very nice pils.
3.0 Pleasant lager - slight herbal noble hops edge - but it’s an old bottle - I’d like to try this off the tap... Not impressed enough to buy another bottle.
2.7 From a bottle. Pours a cloudy pale yellow, lasting head, floral hoppy aroma, mild bitterness with a hint of malt, a bit of spice warmth. OK
3.5 330ml bottle. Pours a hazy light yellow with a large frothy white head which hangs around. Smells like citrus, grass and some spice. Tastes yeasty, sour with a well balanced hop bitterness. Medium body with a dry bitter finish. Quite complex and rather like a saison.
