Modelo Negra

Modelo Negra

First brewed in Tacuba, Mexico in 1925, Modelo Negra, formerly Negra Modelo, is a medium-bodied lager with slow-roasted caramel malts brewed for a rich, smooth taste. Brewed longer to enhance its flavors, Modelo Negra redefines "Dark Beer" because it is exceptionally drinkable and remarkably smooth. This Munich Dunkel-style Lager is brewed with galena and super galena hops as well as caramel malt, black malt and two and six row malt barley. These ingredients are meticulously brewed together to give Modelo Negra that bright, rich, amber hue and that iconic, medium-bodied flavor.

2.9 Clear, brownish, white head . Metallic, malty, rye bread. Smooth, rather light bodied.
3.1 Friday, July 23, 2021 6:03 PM 12 ounce bottle poured to wine glass Sight: Dark amber, small off white foam, appears clear Smell: very good, aroma of malt Taste: very good, Sweet, bold complex flavor, slightly bitter Mouth feel: very good carbonation, no tartness, very good follow through, very good finish Overall: good beer, ok to repeat, not look for
3.4 Old Untappd checkin, January 23, 2016. Brown glass bottle. Deep amber color, small head, translucent appearance. Sweet caramel aroma. Sweet malt flavor, smooth finish. An excellent dark lager.
4.0 If you like sweet dark beers like I do this is the beer to drink. Very easy, no bitterness, dark rich color but the beer doesn’t overpower whatever you’re eating. I always keep some in the beer fridge.
3.1 Puszka 0,33 litra, zakupiona przez ojca w Playa Del Carmen. Wypita 13.06.2021. Barwa brązowa, klarowna. W smaku trochę chlebowe, karmelowe. Średnia goryczka.
3.3 I had this at Global Brew. Pours brown with a tan head. Taste sweet, malt. I thought this was ok. I could drink this again.
3.5 Old rating from 2013 - 355ml bottle, pours light caramel with a tiny off white head. Aromas & tastes of caramel, toffee, lemon, toasted bread & sweet malt. Moderate body. Slightly sweet finish.
3.3 Not a dark beer, but darker. Really flavorful. Best of the Mexican mass market beers. Robust flavor. Foamy. Easy drinking. Smells great.
3.1 355ml bottle. Clear copper with a thin foamy off-white head. Flavors are toasted cereals, toffee, spices and nuts with fruity and herbal notes. Light body, moderate to good carbonation, smooth texture.
3.1 355 ml bottle. Pours a clear dark caramel brown with a beige head. Malty grainy aroma. The taste caramel, notes of grain, brown bread, hay and some grasses
2.9 Charcuterie pairing: Chorizo and Oaxaca cheese Meal pairing: Sea bass fish tacos (corn tortilla only) I think for a large scale group brewer, Modelo is actually a pretty decent beer. For a beer that pours out as dark as it does, it drinks much lighter. I would say it's quite refreshing similar to a light beer but doesn't compromise on taste. This beer has very little taste of hops as bitterness is almost undetectable, instead being replaced by its more caramel notes from the roasted malts. A really good beer to have on a hot summer day/ evening lake or beachside. Also, definitely would look to lighter meals and flavors (basic street tacos are perfect) because this can easily be washed out on the palate.
2.0 Del monton.
2.9 Chlebowe, lekko karmelowe. Dość wodniste, akcenty kwasu chlebowego. Ok ale mało wyraziste.
3.6 First of all, this is another review that RB has lost and I'm redoing for the umpteenth time. However, it does seem like the quality has gone down a little bit. This beer used to score pretty good here nothing like the score it has now. Personally, I think it's a decent macro dark lager. Aromas are toasty dark malt with a hint of toffee. Flavors are similar to nose with a sweet tang and low bitterness. Okay body and slightly edgy carbonation.
3.4 Stämmer helt med beskrivningen. Inte för söt och inte massa humlesmak. Helt min typ.
2.7 bottiglia 355 ml, schiuma beige fine evanescente, colore ambrato limpido, al naso zucchero di canna malto tostato, in bocca malto tostato caramello, corpo leggero, watery, carbonazione piatta, dolce con amaro moderato. Bevibile ma niente di speciale. c. Unes Maccagno 21.11.20
3.6 Drinkable beer, nutty, fruity crisp overtones, pleasant after taste. I think the lackluster reviews are from people buying aged-undress beer or they have preconceived notions about 3rd world countries...
3.1 Pours a clear dark caramel brown with a thin tan ring. Malty grainy aroma. Light thin body. Refreshing light sweet caramel taste with some roasted malts. Flavor disappears quickly. Lightly sweet aftertaste. Fairly enjoyable. Ok but nothing special.
2.8 Una cerveza color castaño, con una espuma generosa y medio persistente, se percibe el olor a la malta tostada.
2.6 Not quite empty dark lager. Malt, caramel, dried fruit notes, not bright, but everything can be felt and balanced. To be objective, this is not bad for a country where beer is number one is beer "Korona"
3.2 the aroma: malty, floral, hints of grain, herbs, bread and straw... the taste: caramel and floral, notes of grain, brown bread, hay and some grasses... the aftertaste: dry and bitter...
2.9 355ml bottle as Negra Modelo. Pours clear brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is malt, brown sugar. Taste is light sweet, faint caramel, dark bread, light bitterness. Feels more like an ordinary lager than a dark one. Bland.
3.2 Adding in my 300 Beers To Try ticks because I want to see how they impact my stats and some of them I will never see again. Will however re-rate them when practical.
2.5 Pours clear brown and fizzy into a snifter with a light tan head. Nose of malts, biscuit, light hops. Good mouthfeel (carbonation). Taste is a bit flat with malts as the backbone. Also light caramel and biscuit. A bit thin and watery. A light metallic astringent aftertaste detracts from the finish. Not too bad for a commercial widely available dark lager, but I've had much better.
4.5 I dont care what gringos and euro trash think, this is a very good beer, its not over flavored and over abv like europeans neither artificial and pretentious like gringo beer. If u dont like it just dont drink it.
2.8 God, intressant bra kombination av Ale och lager.
3.4 En mörk öl med känsla av ljus lager
2.5 355ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Clear dark brown body, filmy layer, lacing rings down the glass. Moderate smell of dark grain. Brown malty flavours, bite of caramel, rather candy sweet. Slightly roasted ending. Medium bodied. Accepted. (Tromsø 23.05.2020).
4.0 Bottle. This beer is very smooth and goes down great. It has rich malty caramel taste. This is one of my favorite Mexican beers!
1.5 Bottle purchased locally in Greater Vancouver. Widely available in government and private liquor stores. A dark liquid with bronze highlights, and those’re about the only highlights you’re gonna find here, har de har! 😄 Caramel on the nose. Speaking of caramel, do you like caramel? If so you’re gonna love this brew, cause lots and lots of caramel. 😆 I can go for a decent brown ale or dunkel once in a while, but this is a disgrace. Nuh.
