Modern Times City of the Sun IPA

Modern Times City of the Sun IPA

City of the Sun is a big, fruity, pungent, sticky, delicious IPA. Mosaic & Motueka give it a very fruity hop character, with Simcoe providing enough of a piney backbone to prevent it from going off the deep end. The complex but unobtrusive malt character gives it a medium body and a platform for the saturated hop flavor.

3.8 1/27/19 - Tallahassee, Fl - Trader Joe's - 16 oz can, Hazy, medium orange, thin, but sticky snow white head. Juicy, tangy aroma, some apricots, a touch of coriander. Full-bodied flavor, some apricot fruitiness, some raw cake mix sweetness, a touch of coriander, trailing citrus bitterness. Thick, rich mouthfeel, nice to see a new brewer in town,
4.0 on tap at Crafty's in Northeast Phila - cool orangey color. Very nice citrus aroma. Good tropical hop flavor.
3.7 Pale golden pour with a thin soapy white head and spots of lacing ..... aroma is pungent, orange, grapefruit, floral and tropical notes .... taste is of floral hops, orange, grapefruit, and tropical notes like papaya and pineapple .... back end is a little bitter and dry which flows into the finish which has lingering orange, papaya and floral hops .... sessionable and the Motueka gives it a different bite
3.7 I got this roughly 8 days after canning. It’s got a sticky tropical aroma but not of your typical tropical flavors, more of the guava-esque category. It’s got a healthy amount of bitterness but it dies quickly in the finish. Has a sweeter flavor and very sticky. Glass lacing is on point (as usual.) very good west coast IPA. However, not very dry at all.
4.2 Looks amazing. Glowing orange. Moderately hazy. Big citrus and pine nose. Taste is citrus, pine, grass, earthy resin. Tasty stuff. Solid bitterness. NEIPA meets west coast
4.3 16oz. can 22 days old.
4.5 One of my favorite iterations of the "juicy" style IPAs!!! From a pint can poured into pint glass...excellent nose with tropical, mango, citrus notes...taste follows it, but the juicy-ness of the mango/citrus doesn't overpower the hoppy-ness that some "juicy" IPAs do. The feel is fantastic as the carbonation seems just right with this one. This is like the "grown man" iteration of "juicy" IPAs. Love it!
3.6 Amber with small white head. Slight malty aroma with some hoppy notes. Medium strong bitterness on the fruity background. Earlier Rating: 7/25/2018 Total Score: 3.7 (For unknown reason the rating didn't appear her (or disappeared to communication error), so for now is difficult to recall all of the details)
4.0 1pint can from alus Celle. Pours slightly hazy amber, thick off-white head stays nicely. Aroma is tropical, fruity, caramelly. Taste is hoppy, fruity, pineapple, mango, tropical, caramelly. Crisp finish. Medium body, average carbonation. Well balanced and super easily drinkable nice IPA!
3.6 Lovely juicy hop mix delivering tropical fruit cocktail with some pine kick. Light sweet with moderate bitterness. Well balanced and enjoyable
3.9 Can at home. WOW such a good beer. This is a really good example of a west coast style. Slighty hazy, very good
3.5 Draft. Amber Beer with a cream head. Summer and tropical fruit aroma. Summer fruit and tropical fruit flavor. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Citrus and summer fruit linger with tropical fruit.
3.8 16oz can almost 60 days old. Color is an amber hued orange. Hazy due to fine debris throughout. Nose is tropical, floral and orange. Medium body with a creamy almost airy mouthfeel. Taste is tropical, flowery and herbal, some wheat, grass, citrus and a light alcohol note. Can says juicy. I would say more tropical-floral with a west coast bitterness. Good though.
3.8 Taster at Interstate. Smooth and creamy. Mild hoppy aroma and taste. Light and unassuming, lingering bitterness and sticky palate
4.3 Damn near perfect ipa. Crisp, clean but also juicy. Very tasty!hay, citrus, dough, alcohol, floral,
3.8 Dark golden color with a medium white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Floral hops, citrus, pine, resiny, dank, grapefruit.
4.6 Slightly cloudy deep golden hue with a huge fluffy white sticky head. Big delightful aroma that’s floral and sticky and citrus zesty and gooseberry. Big bright floral bitter flavor with tropical fruity tones like grapefruit and pineapple. Huge complex hop bitterness and flavor with a little grapefruit and slightly golden caramelly malt base.
3.7 Golden amber color. Frothy white head. Buscuit, citrus and tropical fruit notes. Fairly dank, malty, juicy with tons of citrus and tropical fruit notes. Medium bitterness. Nice,
3.5 Light citrus and pine aromas. Gold and lightly hazy in color with decent head. Taste is of pine, citrusy, faint resin notes.
4.1 A steady poor produces a two-finger thick, pale tan tinged head. The beer is a hazy straw-gold color, that shows a hazy, orange tinged, golden Q when held up to the light. The aroma has a juicy fruit-hop character to it that just jumps out of the glass. It is very smooth and at times almost candied like and its fruit character. Aromas of mandarin orange, tangelo zest, orange sherbet, floral apricot The beer has very little bitterness up front, with just a bit in the Finish; there is just enough to provide some balance but over all this is focused on the smooth, fruity side of the hot character. The body of the beer has a soft, viscous texture to it, that lightly coats the palate, there is a soft medium carbonation that provides some prickly texture as well. The fruit character has lots of citrus zest character, with notes of tangerine, Curacao Orange, mandarin orange, and tangelo. With the hazy and huge fruit focus of the Hop character here this seems like a West Coast interpretation of an East Coast IPA. This is quite well done and very tasty, something I am thoroughly enjoying and plan on getting more of until it runs out.
4.2 I'm having difficulty finding faults in this beer. Mouthfeel is heavier than expected; it's a 7.1 that feels like 11.7 in the mouth. That's it, that's all I can criticize. Great beer.
3.4 Barwa złota, piana średnia. Aromat pomarańczy, ananasów, grapefruit, pieczywo. W smaku cytrusowo, owoce tropikalne, lekka cytrusowa goryczka. Spoko pifko.
3.0 Aroma of hop pellets with some herbal citrusy notes, maybe bit floral character with exotic touch. Aroma isn't very intense. Hazy golden in the glass with a medium head. Taste is semi sweet with notes citrus, exotic fruitiness, bit herbal hoppy finish. Simple, but not really ass kicking.
3.5 On tap at the HandleBar, Boise Hazy deep golden orange. Nice off white head. A good balance of citrus and pineybhop aromas and flavors. Pretty big and a full smooth body.
4.0 Can@: pours haazy pale golden with foamy white head. Clean crisp malt profile, citrusy, fruity hop character. Medium bitterness. Medium-light body, smooth texture, moderate carbonation.
4.0 Draft pour at brewery, golden pour soft haze. Juice aroma, flavor is balanced hops orange, grapefruit and watermelon.
3.8 Tap at lomaland. Pours hazy gold. Aroma and flavor are juicy mango, pear, pale malt, chewy, and smooth hop bitterness. Medium body.
3.8 Pint can for $2.89. Slightly hazy medium to dark yellow pour. Aroma of spicy hops with some underlying citrus and citrus peel notes. Flavor is slightly sweet and bitter with flavors of sugar, cantaloupe, sweet orange, and a little lime. Medium body and level of carbonation.
3.8 Poured from a 16 oz an dated 12/21/2017. Aroma is very hop forward with some nice citrus and tropical fruit notes. Moderate pine and resin balance out the fruit and add a bit of a dank character. Light cracker malt notes and a hint of alcohol. Pours a somewhat hazy, golden orange with a medium sized, thick, pillowy white head that recedes to a thin film that lingers. Medium lacing and small legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with some cracker malt and biscuit notes. Medium high bitterness with some light alcohol notes. Flavor is fairly fruity with some mango, melon, passion fruit and tangerine. Medium light dank, piney resin notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice IPA; I'm glad I can just grab a 4-pack of this from my local Whole Foods. Its not up there with Moonraker or some of the super juicy IPAs, but its really nice.
3.8 Draft. Aroma of rich, ripe stone fruit. Flavors of papaya, butterscotch and toffee. Fantastic.
