1.0Bottle to shaker glass, pours clear yellow, small quick head. Slight lacing, no retention. Aroma of corn. Taste is skunky sweet. Light bodied, fizzy carbonation, watery mouth feel. Finishes skunky sweet. Tasting notes of corn, grass, skunk, bubblegum and metal. Next............
1.9Pours a clear and bubbly corn colour, 1" of foam.
Has that adjunct Lager smell that’s perfumy with corny vegetable notes.
Corn sweetish flavour with a mild bitterness, usual mouthfeel for the style, which ain’t a bad thing.
Picked up in a mixed 6 pack. Only way to go..
2.2This is the typical skunky lager, but I find it a bit smoother than most of the american lagers, probably because it’s a pale lager. Also maybe the water slightly better/cleaner. To me, it’s more like the Molson Exta Pale versus Molson Golden...but with a slightly higher ABV%. It’s not a bad bar beer if they only serve domestic and such.
1.9355ml twist off bottle. SEP0814 printed on neck. Drank from the bottle on an outdoor ice rink. Its a crappy ice beer, not as good as the dry versions.
2.6"very similar to Labatt Ice in almost every way. A decent enough session beer. Nothing more, nothing less...I guess it depends what you expect. Ever so slightly recomended for a macrobrew."
2.5DATE TASTED: September 12, 2014... GLASSWARE: Baltika stange...OCCASION: O’s double-header sweep... APPEARANCE: shockingly lucid soft yellow body that is thinly bubbly; thick, foamy three-finger head laces sporadically; surprisingly tangible patterns .. AROMA: definite biscuit mats present; hops are slightly corny, a bit funky and gassy? noxious? some light bubblegum too--odd... PALATE: firm, medium-bodied, oily and lingering, though the aftertaste is light and unobtrusive...TASTE: lightly toasted, with some beechwood in the aftertaste; sweet and malty when swished; nondescript otherwise...OVERALL: mellow-not at all the Ice that one expects; at 5.6 ABV, it provides a bit more heft than the usual rote pilsener; sweet, cleansing and soft by its end...like the oversized can, but not much making this experience memorable...
2.7Transfer from BA review on 12-30-12-
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance- Pours a golden-straw color with a one finger fizzy head. The head of the brew fades quite quickly to leave only minimal lacing.
Smell – The aroma is sweet of corn and has a decent bready smell. Mixed with these aromas is a light caramel as well.
Taste – The taste is quite sweet up front and remains so throughout the taste. It begins with a light bready taste mixed with a strong sweet corn taste. As the taste advances the bready fades with the sweet getting stronger. As the taste sweetened with flavors of caramel and more corn, it became a little cloying. The flavors were never really off, just a little too sweet. In the end a light metallic taste joins the sweetness leaving a sweet and light metal flavor on the tongue.
Mouthfeel –The body of the beer was on the average side in terms of creaminess and carbonation. Both were good for the style and made for a rather easy drinking brew.
Overall- Well nothing really all that fantastic and definitely nothing to go out of your way for. For 50 cents a bottle thought, you can’t expect too much, and it could be good for a party style brew I suppose.
3.4It has a light golden color with very good clarity and lots of carbonation. The head builds up tall and foamy and it is just off white in color. It fades nearly as fast as it forms leaving behind little to lace. The aroma is simple and clean with a mild cereal grain character. Its flavor is similar to Molson Canadian but a little stronger. The favor is somewhat sweet with a cereal grain malty body offset by a light grassy hop presence. It finish quickly and cleanly, a little bit dry, with some of the light hops bitterness. The texture is smooth but with good carbonation and a medium body.
2.6Hmmmm...ha, just found an old after hockey beer. Here’s my take.
This was always poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a super light yellow to almost golden color with a rapidly dissipating white foamy/bubbly head. The lacing was mainly not really there.
The smell had that typical cooked corn/rice thing going on.
The taste was mostly just sweet through the previously mentioned flavors.
The palate, well, that was pretty light for the most part and it showed a fairly decent sessionable quality about it.
Overall, well, its an AAL, what does one expect? Me, hmmm...not bad, I’d have again depending upon what else was served.
2.0Bottle (Old Notes)-Pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of corn, grains, and slight malt. Taste of malt, corn, and light hops. This light bodied brew is just another "ice" pale lager.
0.7This is my first stab at a rating, so I figured I’d start with a softball, good ol Molson Ice. Once upon a time, I used to think Ice Beer was some kind of premium; now I know them for what they are: crap beer that has had extra crappiness frozen into it by removing some of it’s most redeeming ingredient...water.
Smell: Awful. Reminiscent of the men’s bathroom at a stadium during your 6th inning piss break.
Appearance: Darkish yellow, pretty much what you would expect when you take a light beer, freeze it, then squeeze it out like concentrated orange juice. Imagine that. lots of misleading head that quickly dissolves to nothing. However, if forced at gunpoint to experience this swill using just one of my senses, I guess looking at it isn’t all that bad. So, you know, props to Molson Ice for not looking as bad as it smells/tastes/is!
Taste: Remarkably metallic, considering I poured it from a bottle. When I was younger, I drank beer with my friends but secretly thought it tasted awful and assumed all beer was like that. This is one of those beers that lead me to that early opinion and no doubt robbed me of several years of actually enjoying good beer. Thanks a pile, Canada!
Palate: Sticky yet watery, like a sprite that’s gone flat in a solo cup. Only instead of sprite, it’s actually mop water from aforementioned stadium bathroom, and by solo cup I mean a crusty sweat sock.
Overall: Terrible. Not even a low-budget choice. For tight budget weeks, I’ll stick with the lights...not much to right home about either way but at least I’m spared the assault to all of my senses (except one). If this is the only thing to drink, I can’t help but wonder if I floated a few ice cubes in this swill if maybe, just maybe, the water-to-alcohol ration might balance out enough to turn it back into plain ’Ol Molson and henceforth become merely tasteless yet tolerable.
1.9Bottle at home. Pours brilliantly clear gold with a small, frothy white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is corn, Pils malt, light alcohol notes, and spicy hops. Flavor is pale malt, corn, light hops and bitterness, light alcohol and a sweet finish. Light body and medium carbonation.
2.8I poured a 24oz can into a 1-liter boot stein. It had a best before date of 6/16/14 and cost $1.28 ($0.05 per ounce).
Appearance: Crystal-clear golden hue with plenty of spastic effervescence. Pours to a fairly large, white, fluffy head which actually laces and retains well for the style.
Smell: Corn grits and flaked maize (but I repeat myself). Generic adjunct lager aroma. Nothing foul.
Taste: Usually, beers with "Ice" in the name tend to intimidate me more than actual malt liquors. Something about the freeze distillation tends to give the beer a dirty, metallic flavor. That’s how I remember Molson Ice when I reviewed in 2010. It was brewed in Canada back then, but this particular can was brewed by Coors in Colorado. I’m not sure if the recipe was changed or if Americans do a better job of brewing it, but the result is a relatively strong pale adjunct lager that’s far from terrible.
Much like Coors Light, Molson Ice has an overt taste of corn that dominates the palette. Unlike Coors Light, there’s no tang or sharp sensation, nor is there any club soda-like character present. While there isn’t a lot of true taste to the palette, what’s here isn’t offensive. It’s not appealing, either, merely tolerable. No overt off-flavors or brewing flaws, but little to genuinely enjoy.
Drinkability: I was surprised at how quickly and easily I was able to suck down an entire 24oz serving of Molson Ice. The mouthfeel is rather thin, but of course quite bubbly, which leads to plenty of burping. It is refreshing while crossing the tongue and finishes completely clean. It’d be nice if it had more flavor considering its weight of 5.6% ABV, but this beer is consumed for its performance value so it’s understandable.
2.2It doesnt smell or look all that great but it tastes alot better than I was told and really not too bad for a ice
2.524oz can, from the Growler Stop shell gas station. Best by June 9 14. Clear golden color. Inch of nice rocky white head, with great retention. Nice continuous stream of bubbles. A few arms of lace. This is a nice looking beer. Medium body. Smooth, soft, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Reasonable smooth and easy drinking. Relatively clean bready aroma, some lemon citrus. Moderate tart taste, sweet, a very light bite. Much better than expected. Good value for the $1.50.
0.9can’t fathom how this beer is 5.5% abv..and i use the term beer very loosely..
2.5Had to come to the States to try this Canadian Ice brew, supervised by Molson, but brewed by Coors here. Pours a clean golden colour with a frothy white head, good retention and thick creamy and foam lace. Smells like fresh malt at first, then just gets mild. The taste is malty and a little sweet, but not overly. Goes down quite smoothly. I guess it is well-supervised, as it has this Canadian feel to it (and not A-B style). Did not find much corn in this. Just not as "iced" as most tried (with the no-aftertaste). Nice and malty.
1.724 oz can to pint (shared with the Mrs.). Looks fine for what it is; a transparent gold with white head that steadily dissipates into very thin lacing. Smells doughy and skunky; cheap with notes of lager yeast. Tastes like it smells with a sub-par mouthfeel. Not good at all.
2.3Bottle:
clear gold with a small white head.
Grain, corn malt aroma.
Taste is sweet....corn, a little light fruit, sugar.
Fairly smooth, but too sweet for the mix.
just OK.
1.9A: Mild Golden Straw Hue, Passes All Light, White Head, Some Lacing
S: Corn, Barley
T: Corn, Water
M: Average Carbonation, Light Bodied, Watery
Overall, corn water, need I say more...It really tastes like watered down corn in a glass.
1.9Signature cornmeal aroma of the ice lager. Vegetal central. Clear medium to dark yellow. Bitter only in terms of a cold bite, increasingly sweet to a sugary pitchas it warms. Body is thicker than the average watery lager. The strange appeal of ice beer continues, but that doesn’t make it good.
1.7Expired 12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear pale gold with minimal head. Aroma of skunk and sweet malt. Caramel or syrup. Taste is light sweet. Corn and syrup with some skunk on the end. Light bodied with a thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, meh. Not good, but better than I thought it would be.
1.3Can pours a yellow water with a foamy white top. Nose is corn and taste is water and metal.
1.5Can, thanks to a neighbor who thought he was doing me a favor... Bursted out of the can. Pours pale yellow with quick disappearing white head. Well carbonated, with a nose of copper, aluminum, but there are some fruity notes there too. Taste is of copper, kind of like sucking on a penny. Alcohol aftertaste....
1.9Big fucken can @ home, courtesy of BlackIPA! Thanks Soul Sister! Pours a light yellow appearance with a spidery white head. Lemon, light juicy, corn, watery aroma. Somewhat watery with a nice corn backbone. Light lemonade and a touch of vanilla. Not all that fucken hard to drink. Thanks LaToya!
3.4Nice just to enjoy a beer in a moment of relax. Quite industrial one and somewhat strong too.
3.0Tall can courtesy of the fine lager purveyor known as BlackIPA. Pale straw color with a short lived white head. Nose is corn, grain, and a little bit of bread. Some sugary sweetness, water, grass, and an odd maple syrup aroma. Tastes kind of like Aunt Jemima’s. Maple flavoring and sweetness. Grain, corn, and sugar. A touch of grass and some water.
2.3Clear piss yellow. Smells and tastes of corn husks, tin, and LME, with a small amount of yeast. Could be worse.
3.1Typical for its class. Crisp, clean and a good session beer. Aroma stronger than taste.
2.4Clear copper pour, .white head.. Skunky aroma...got this cuz ive never had... Was actully assuming i would hate it, but its actually drinkable.. Notihgn special, but decent for what it is
