Montegioco Demon Hunter

Montegioco Demon Hunter

Demon Hunter an intense beer with great complexity. It is of amber color with a persistent head. the nose has notes of chestnut trees, mature plums, grapes and caramel. The pepper compliments the light herb notes from the hops. The flavor starts with a taste of honey and is finishes on a beautifully hop note.

Demon Hunter is brewed using malt and hops. The alcoholic content obtained from the fermentation of the malt is of 8 % in volume, while the final one is 8.5 % in volume. Demon Hunter is matured for 15 weeks.

Corpo intenso. Finale sontuoso.
3.2 Beetle @ tasting. A little grainy and sweet. Hazy brown with dissipating cream head.
2.9 Bottle shared at a tasting at tomer’s place. Murky honey-brown with white film. Honeydew, yeast, a little spicy, perfume-like aroma, sweet and yeasty taste with some honey. Medium-to-full body, some plastic and soft fizz.
2.3 Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks kerenmk. Hazy orange amber color. Smell of candy, yeast and fruity esters. Sweet sugary flavors of honey, candy and alcohol. Medium-bodied, sticky, quite hard to drink.
2.0 At a tasting, small bubbly head, cloudy rusty orange to very light brown color, honey and wax aroma with some candy in the back, flavor of manure and a strange spiciness with some dried fruits in the back as the beers warms up, very sweet and alcoholic. Over the top, almost undrinkable.
2.1 Bottle sample at a tasting at tomer’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Hazy orange. Aroma of cardboard, fruitiness, a bit of honey. Sweet flavor with honey, cardboard, fruitiness, and a bit of alcohol in a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied.
3.8 750ml in Peja, Kosovo. So great, Alberto! Rosy bright red, thick soapy foam. Great bright aroma. Finishes darker caramel than expected. Some alcohol richness. Some smokiness to malts too. Dry finish. Really lovely.
3.5 Owl Farm, Brooklyn tap: Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is dark fruit, earthiness, a little bit of alcohol, and some yeast. Taste is a little bit sweet. Plenty of fruitiness and earthiness. It is more subdued than one might have expected. That said it was good.
3.9 A loud pop when I popped the cap, which has a curious plastic cylinder thingy attached to it. Hazy copper coloured with plenty of sediment floating around. The smell is big on toasted malt with side notes of Belgian yeast and some conglomerate of spices. The taste is spicy, again, not easy to distinguish which, with toasted malt, Belgian yeast...maybe that spice is or at least reminds me of rye. No mention of rye in the beer’s description but that won’t stop me from mentioning it. This also has a dankness and earthiness to it. And the finish? I get light fruity tones that make it on the dry side. Okay, this beer really has me befuddled; I’m now getting hints of horse blanket as it warms up and you probably know what that would suggest. Overall, I’d say smell wins over taste. This is weird and I will just have to let the cards fall where they may. If you see bottles of it, give it a go.
3.9 On tap at the King Arthur pub in Rome-Italy. Pours a great hazy amber/copper colour, off white head which leaves lacing and drafts. Nose: dry fruit, hint of caramel, fresh candy sugar. Mouth: medium carbonation, round sweetness, molasses. Very balanced and refreshing.
Corpo medio, abv ben mascherato, effervescenza gentile, struttura leggermente oleosa.
3.8 Pours a murky orange with thick white head. Aroma is caramel, oranges, figs. Taste is sweet, caramel, some malts, dark fruits, slight herbal finish. Nice.
3.4 Bottle. Caramel colored beer with a dark cream head. Malt and dried fruit aroma with a little backing sugar. Caramel and dried fruit flavor with light honey and light herbal notes. Medium bodied. Dried fruit and light herbal notes linger with rich malt and alcohol.

3.4 How: Draught. Where: Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fà, Rome. Appearance: Amber colour with a white head. Aroma: Sweet malt, caramel, alcohol, some fruit. Body: Medium body and carbonation. Flavour: Carmel, fruit, alcohol, sweet malt.
3.4 Bottle. Pours a hazy amber with some floating sediment and a light brow head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of bread with a bit some earthy fruits and a woody backing. Flavor has a good amount of sweet bread with a bit of earthiness and a bit of grass backing.
3.2 2007 bottle, original imported batch to the U.S., drunk 2010 Figured this was big enough that it may benefit from some age on it. The pour was quite a deep mahogany brown with auburn highlights. Clear, leaving the sediment behind and a large beige head recedes steadily to cover. Honey, caramel, toffee, prunes and just a hint of roasty/ashy coffee. Traces of yellow fruits that must have been more dominant when young but have no faded in to the caramel and just add to the maltiness. High strength of aroma, with alcohol present but thankfully adding dryness and very easily balanced by the malt. In the mouth, it’s sweet, chewy, rich and thick. Some light oxidation going on, adding dried raisins and lots of plummy flavors. Tons of creamy vanilla-like malt sweetness clear to the finish, with black pepper phenols and alcohol attempting to balance. For the most part it does, though the beer still leans heavily to the sweet side. Has all the dark fruits, rich malt, phenols and alcohol of a BSA, but nothing really sets it apart, otherwise, from the rest of the pack.
3.4 Bottle - Bought Aug 2012; BBE date Dec 2016; Drank Jun 2013 - BCA, heavily sedimented - Hazy Amber Brown in colour. Fruity; dark fruits, plums, raisins. Malty; sweet malts, caramel, honey. Yeasty. Hoppy; spicy (peppery) and herby hops. Sweet fruity malty throughout. Dry slightly hoppy finish. OK. Very drinkable.
4.1 Bottiglia 75cl a casa. Ambrata carica con bella schiuma piuttosto persistente. Potente, complessa e ricca. Davvero notevole! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhold
4.0 Bottle at home in London with Lyoli. Bottle aged appx. 2.5 years. Pours lightly hazed auburn with a frothy, off-white head. Tangy berries on the nose with mild funky twang, a bit of old leather. Medium sweet flavor with lightly aged, leathery fruits, hints of barnyard, plums, mild figs, cherries, subtle wood, melon and bubblegum. Medium to full bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Lightly warming to finish with suggestions of woody bitterness, slight bretty diapers, well-ripened berries, some cherries, plums. Quite tasty and very drinkable for the strength. Has just a subtle bit of oud bruin character, which I like. Good depth, nice balance. Solid.
Bittermandel i eftersmaken.
3.4 Hazy copper with off white head. Aroma sweet and vanilla-y, some fruit and caramel. Taste fairly bitter, sweet notes, fairly hoppy palate.
3.6 Bottle from Corks and Kegs on 02/06/2011. Slightly hazy golden body with a medium creamy white head. Sweet fruit, spice, caramel and floral aroma. Sweet fruit flavor with some spice, pale malt and caramel. Medium body with moderately high carbonation.
3.2 Bottle as an extra. Pour has a deep brown color with patches of white foam and a still look in the glass. Aroma has dark fruit, sweet malt, caramel, and oxidation. I think this bottle may have matured for quite a while after the initial 15 weeks. Mouth feel is medium and there is basically no carbonation. Flavor is heavy to the malted side, dark fruit, heavy yeast, and a lingering finish.
3.0 Still, I do not know how to enjoy Demon Hunter. The road is long and harsh, but this beer’s earthy, yeasty character is sometimes overwhelming; a profound warming sensation is not enough to classify it as a satisfying strong ale. Nose is usually messy, taste is sweet and dirty. Like "Rurale" I usually find this overcharged by yeast character.
Corpo medio, carbonazione media, grande beva. Eccellente belgian strong ale, Montegioco si conferma su standard altissimi!
3.4 Pours a hazy gold from the bomber with thin white head and no lacing to speak of. Aroma of bready grain, funky yeast, and citrus. Taste is sweet caramel malt, peppery notes, and funkiness. Weird but good.
3.5 Bottle. Color unclear orange with medium white head. Aroma yeast, malt, orange. Taste sweet, malt, yeast, orange, some bitterness.
