Monteith's Bohemian Pilsner

Monteith's Bohemian Pilsner

Bottle: Filtered.

Monteith’s Pilsner Beer is a Bohemian-style lager in the heritage of extremely hopped blonde beers brewed in parts of Eastern Europe. It has a complex hop aroma and a rich hop bitterness characteristic of this tradition in brewing.

Monteith’s Pilsner Beer has a malty quality that includes smooth caramel characteristics from the use of Vienna-style crystal malts. The key flavour is its enormous hop character, crafted around this complex malt flavour.

2.2 330ml bottle (Viking Line). Clear amber color. Huge size, white head, stays. Very malty, perfume, dusty in aroma. Sweet and dusty malty taste. Maltiness is overwhelming. Typical Monteiths.
2.1 330ml bottle (Viking Line) Golden, persistent tight white head. Simple light lagery aroma, a bit dusty. Taste is a complete mess. Dirty malts, harsh acidic bitterness. Finish is rough and hash, very metallic and chemical. For a lager, not a total disaster, but this being vaguely drinkable reinforces my opinions of them not being ale brewers, as their ales suck donkey balls.
Bye, bye, adios. Aldrig mer detta bryggeri.
2.6 Bottle @ White Swan, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a carbonation and a thin head. Malty enough pilsner, although certainly not heavy in any of its characteristics.
1.7 Botella 33 cl de el c. Inglés Oviedo tomada en 2006. Fc pref 11-2007 (r185). Pilsner se 5 Vol sin muchos recuerdos agradables. Corriente.
1.9 Bottle at home. Aroma of malt, grain, corn. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Boring sweetish Pilsener.

2.7 KRS 311214. Golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is fruit, malt, corn. Flavour is sweet, malt, hop, fruit, corn, tropical fruit, caramel. Medium body. Ordinary beer.
2.6 Fresh smooth malty beginning. Hints of grain, hints of bitterness. Not too deep and fresh, but nice and round. Malty smooth, not too intense bitter. A typical Bohemian Pilsner, but not a too intense or deep.
2.6 .33l bottle @Pommi Pours pale clear golden with low head. Aroma is malts, hops, alcohol, grainy. Flavor is mostly same.
2.5 Bottle @ de Paas. Pours a clear golden beer with a medium sized white head on top. Aroma is very malty, grainy and sweet. Flavor is moderately bitter with a decent amount of hoppy bitterness. Short aftertaste, crispy mouthfeel, decent beer. OK
1.3 33cl bottle. Golden color, thin white head. Horrible aroma, unfermented wort, sweetness. Flavor has sweetness, malt, pesticides. Awful.
2.2 330ml bottle. clear gold pour with thin white head. aroma is grass, earth and hops. doesn’t taste like a pilsner much. quite grassy and stale. not great.
2.4 33cl bottle. Small white head diminishing. Clear pilsener color. Aroma is malt, leaves. Taste is quite sweet of malt, leaves, wood.
2.9 Bottle. Pours golden with an off-white head. Aroma of malt, fruitiness, some malt and corn. Flavor is sweet and fruity with some bitterness, malt and herbs. Medium body, average carbonation.
2.7 Yellow, clear, with white head. Mild aroma of apple. Mild taste, apple with considerable metallic bitter aftertaste. Watery
2.3 Bottle at Wild Lime, Reading. Gold with a thin white head. Gentle fizz in a soft body. Sweet but thin malt behind light grassy hops. A little pepper in the slightly dry finish. Beats the macros I guess, but it’s very very tame indeed.
2.6 Lahev. Clear, golden, smaller - slowly collapsing - White head; mild sweetish pale-malty nose with a bready touch, spicy Saaz hops barely detectable, but some are in the Aroma...; mild bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied and nearly soft; finish is watery, spicy hops and pale malt detectable in molecular doses: Not an unpleasant, but a very thin Interpretation of a Bohemian Pilsener...
2.7 0,33l bottle from Viking Gabriella. Pours pale golden with a very low head. Aroma is grassy malts. Flavor is slightly fruity malts with a hoppy finish. Pretty decent.
2.9 0,33 pullo from Viking Gabriella. Kirkas kullankeltainen. Tuoksussa makeaa mallasta, maalaisleipää, metallia. Maussa mallasta, humalaa ja metallia.
2.4 330 ml bottle. Clear golden body with a big but fast disappearing white head. A bit weak aroma of grain and sweetish malt. Flavor is sweet malty and a bit metallic, low bitterness. Plain and one dimensional. Medium body and short aftertaste. Nothing for me at all.
3.5 Bottle at Taps, Leicester. Crisp, herby, pizza crust, grassy Pils. Thick bubbles. Nice rainwasser arome. Enjoyed this.
1.3 Can one really make a beer this bad and take it to the other side of this planet to sell as exotic ..
2.2 Bottle 330ml Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt and floral. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter. Body is light, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.
1.2 A nice drop if you want a pure golden beer in your glass. Head didn’t last longer than 2 minutes but at least the beer tasted refreshing.
2.8 Bottle at viking line boat. Pretty basic bohemian pilsner. Malty and some spicy hops...
2.6 Bottle from Viking Gabriella taxfree as "Bohemian Pilsner" Clear amber-golden color, small white head. A bit papery, grassy hoppy aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Spicey bitter hoppyness, ok palate but some cardboard in the finish. Light use of crystal malts. Seems to be 8 months old bottle (BB 02/2015).
2.8 0.33 l bottle from Viking Line ferry boat form Stockholm to Helsinki. My bottle says Bohemian Pilsner on the red label but I guess this must the same beer. Does not look very promising but taste is malts and hops i.e. exactly what a Bohemian pilsner should be. Also, this does not die in your mouth as quickly as the other brewerages from the same brewery.
2.4 330ml bottle from Viking XPRS, labelled Bohemian Pilsener. Clear darkish yellow colour, small fully vanishing fizzy white head, not much lacing. Moderately malty aroma of bisquit and hay with moderate herbal, grassy and slightly earthy hops. Taste is initially balanced bittersweet and slightly acidic turning into a moderately bitter finish with an astrigent feel. Medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation. Ok pilsener, no idea about where the enormous hop character is. Certainly doesn’t have the bit of a bitterness bite in the end that many of the better pilseners have. Somewhat above avereage anyway.
