Monteith's Brewer’s Series India Pale Ale

Monteith's Brewer’s Series India Pale Ale

There’s plenty of rich maltiness from this Pale Ale and higher-kilned malt combination. The Cascade and special New Zealand hops create a fruity aroma with a dose of bitterness to drive home the hop flavour. A beer for the IPA lover with a distinctly Kiwi style.

3.2 Dark Golden colour with white foam. Malt and hops in both aroma and taste. Could have a lot more to offer.
3.3 Bottled, 330ml at The Fizzy Moon Brewhouse, Leamington Spa, Warks. Burnished gold with white head. This is a light, quite malty beer with a bitterish edge, some cereal sweetness, some fruitiness. It’s fine.
3.4 Pours Clear red-brown with smell cream head, aroma of cheese and a bitter creamy taste
3.2 Medium white head, copper amber coloured body, yeasts nutty malts smell, medium co2 medium bitter, nutty taste warming malts
2.9 Bottle courtesy of Mum and Keith, purchased from Whitby beer shop, consumed at home Tuesday 21st March 2017, another non beer night when I naughtily drinking a beer. A fairly pedestrian IPA, lacks a little in the hoppiness and bitterness departments. Light fruitiness, deep gold in colour, it’s ok. A6 A4 T5 P3 Ov11 2.9
2.4 F: thin, light off-white, quick disappear. C: amber, hint of hazy. A: malt, caramel, symbolical pine, fruity. T: malt, fruity, hint of grapefruit, herbal, toast, caramel, hint of spruce, medium body, medium carbonation, as an IPA is good joke but as just beer so-so, 330ml bottle from AH supermarket in Antwerpen.
2.8 330ml bottle. Pours slightly cloudy amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is caramel and malt, light hoppy notes. Taste is sweet and caramelly, low bitterness and low hops. Not bad, but not a very believable IPA. I've tasted hoppier lagers.
3.4 Bottle @ home. Dark golden colour with a nice white head. Smells malts, pilsener. Tastes like a pilsener but with less carbo. Super easily drinkable and okay, but not an ipa.
3.3 Bottle at home.Clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma medium malty (caramel, roasted) and hoppy (piney, citrusy). Flavoe medium sweet and bitter, then more bitter, long lasting. Medium body.
2.6 33cl bottle from Viking XPRS. Pours clear deep golden to amber with a somewhat short-lived head. Rather malty and caramelly aroma with some fruity notes and hints of citrus and herbs. Medium sweet and not very hoppy with a fairly light bitterness. Completely drinkable, but far from a decent IPA in my book.
2.7 Light amber. Lightly malty with a minute hop profile. Lightly sweet taste with a dry and solidly bitter finish. Meidum body. Overall, an average IPA. It is lacking in flavour and aroma hops, but makes up for it with lots of IBUs.
2.3 330ml bottle for £1 at Key & Anchor. Shirley. Malt accented beer with an American accent. Not really to my taste, but cheap enough. Some fresh hops would lift it. Drinkable, though not that attractive.
2.4 15-10-16. Flasche 0,33L@AH Bodegraven. Aroma: Malz. Geschmack: Malz, Karamell, eher ein Bock als ein IPA.
2.9 Bottle, bb 21.04.17 (from auchan, Timisoara). Pours amber. Aroma is sweet, malty, some hops, caramel. Flavor is sweet and bitter, caramel, malt, pine. Feels rather watery. Carbonation is high. Overall: drinkable.
1.9 Bottle bought at AH Holland. Very bland, boring, grainy, malts. Not an IPA really.
3.1 Along with Yves at my home amber coloured body with a white head and a malt hops aroma a malt hops fruity bitter taste with a bitter finish
2.8 Bottle 0,33ltr: Slightly hazy orange colored brew with an dry bitter taste, some hints of citrus and caramel. This New Zealndic beer try at least to be an I.P.A.
3.2 Shared with wim at his home. Clear amber colored beer with small white head and no carbonation visible. Malty aroma. Full sparkling palate. Finish is bitter sweet malty bit roasted.
2.7 Getreidig hopfiger Antrunk. 8/9/8/8/10/8
2.5 bottle. Clear amber with tiny white head. Moderate hoppy aroma (fruity) and some malts. Taste is hoppy with some spices and medium bitter. I could wish for a more powerful taste and aroma
2.8 Bottle. Color: Clear orange golden, off white dense head. Taste: Grassy, herbs, malts and... hey, there are some hops too! Not as much as a India Pale Ale should have in my opinion. Overall not bad, but not what I expected. And a bit too sweet.
2.4 Herbs in aroma, head quickly gone, watery, malty, herbal bitter finish. Nothing special.
2.9 Bottle @ home. Clear orange golden color, medium sized white to off-white head. Smell and taste malts, some hops but they’re quite faint and seem a bit old. Lightly bitter. Average body and carbonation. Meh.
2.6 A bit low on the hop profile. A decent hoppy blonde ale. Not an IPA. Clear golden color with a fine white head. Decent dotted lacing. Moderate intensity in the aroma. Medium body and an average carbonation. Fair balance between sweetness and bitterness. Caramel malty, herbal, mild fruity and mild citric flavor. [Bottle from Mitre in London, England] Brewery #1503
2.4 Bottle at home. Clear murky golden colour, white foamy head. No nose. Watery malty, English hops, light bitterness. Light body, medium carbonation, dry.
2.8 Small yellowish head, reasonably stable over hazy orange to golden beer. Sweetish, dull, caramelly nose. Véééééry IPA, indeed. Bit dusty even, old syrup. Dryish, both ever so slightly sweetish as bitterish. In the main taste, the bitterness comes out more in force, slightly metallic, only to fade in the finish and aftertaste. Quite slick, very well-carbonated, medium bodied. IPA - pffff... NZL craftbeer scene has a good reputation, but Monteith’s a letdown, IMO.
