3.6 Thin tan head left a spotty cover on still black body. Coal, tar & burnt aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a light tickle on the back & clean aft. Malt, chocolate, light smoke, berries & roasted tastes. Excellent
2.6 Can, from Beer52. Jet black, thin short lived pale beige head and no condition. Sweet coffee, chocolate and liquorice in the nose, with a slight roasted barley fruitiness and a late hint of woodsmoke. Soft and sweet in the mouth with a slight chalky bitterness and some chocolate powder notes, finish is slightly fruity with a muted coffee sweetness and a little spicy bitterness lingering.
3.3 Can from beer52. Black with a tan head, light malt chocolate aroma, medium body, smooth, chocolate hint of coffee in the finish, all a bit too subtle for me
3.5 330ml can from Honest Brew. Look - pours black, small beige head, decent retention. Aroma - roasted and sweet malts, chocolate, dried fruits. Fairly standard but very inviting. Taste - sweet malts followed by a chocolate and dry liquorice note and the the roasted elements combine with a moderate bitterness. Nice but lacks a bit of depth to take it to next level. Palate - medium body which is smooth and creamy, soft carbonation. Excellent. Good session stout.
2.8 Drinkable stout from Beer 52. Hints of chocolate but flavours subtle. Very drinkable though.
3.2 Can from Beer52 Black with very little head with a slight coffee taste and is quite drinkable.
3.6 52. Coffee, sweet, low carbonation. Smooth, easy drinking
3.8 Pretty nice, no particularly strong flavours, a very low key stout. Slight head but long lasting.
3.1 Lovely, not too heavy,
2.8 Pours like cola lol smells very chocolate like with sweetness .the first flavour is a sweet Ness followed by a chocolate aftertaste
3.0 Can. Simple black pour, no head. Malts and earth aroma. Medium body, mildly oily. Initially chocolate and malts, with a coffee finish. Flavours don't really stand out, but pretty decent.
3.4 Can from Beer 52. The nose is faint, but contains chocolate and fruit cake. Pours almost completely black. Very difficult to get a head, but what there is is a dark beige, with and almost reddish tinge. In the mouth the texture is very smooth and creamy. The main taste is sweetness. Roast malts are there, but they take a while to come through. Plenty of chocolate and liquorice though. Malts and coffee dregs in the finish. Very nice and drinkable, but lacking a bit in stout character.
Mooi gebalanceerde stout.
3.2 Tobacco, chocolate
3.3 Cask pint at the Hope, Carshalton. Pours dark brown black with a beige head. Grassy roast malt aroma. Chocolate grass taste. Thin dry finish.
3.2 Sweet, medium body, with dark chocolate and liquorice taste notes. It is naturally carbonated, as it's say's on the can, but I think it make the beer , a bit flat and lifeless after the first couple of zips.
3.4 Pours almost black with a small dark yellowish/light brown head that fades quite quickly, but still leaves thin layers. Super classic stout aroma shows roasted malts, grain coffee plus hints of chocolate and dark fruit cake. Average intensity and definition. Taste is sweeter than i would've guessed from the aroma and probably a bit sweeter than usual per style, though still enough in balance. Roasted malts and slight coffee with hints of sweet fruitiness. Semi-sweet but clean and dry enough finish. Very classic in taste as in the aroma, but not very deep. Light to medium bodied with light, soft carbonation, resulting in an easy but pleasantly silky mouthfeel. Was not impressed, but still satisfied.
4.2 Pours a dark brown colour with a beige colour head Notes of roasted toffee caramel and malt coffee with roasted toffee caramel and malt
3.2 Very dark ale with very little head. Moorish smell and a nice smooth classic stout taste.
3.7 Home. 33 cl can. A brown foam layer on a dark brown beer. Aroma of dark malt, light roasted, chocolate, caramel and some cherries. Taste like aroma with a nice malty bitter in aftertaste. Good balance and nice complex. Slightly sticky and bitter dry.
3.7 on cask birraio dell' anno really well balanced low natural carbonation solid
3.4 Draft at Delancey Grand: pours black with loose beige head. Aroma is light chocolate, molasses. Taste is lightly roasty, milky chocolate. Easy. Solid.
3.5 Dark, Opaque, Tan Beerhead, with thin, loose, and course foam, low retention. Chocolate, toffee, roasted malts, and dark caramel on the nose. Slightly licorice and woody flavors, and somehow tobacco.Medium sweetness, soft carbonation, smooth touch, low bitterness. The taste is similar to the aroma, malts are the main character in beer. Dry in finish. Slightly oily.
3.7 Shrewsbury Beer Share Group Meeting, Chez Sophie; 28th Oct 2019. Cheers Mike for this 330ml can. Black with a head of tan. Chocolate and coffee esters in the nose, the taste is also dominated by those two flavours. Nice balance between dry, bitter and sweetness.
4.0 330ml can @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Oct 19, thanks Mike for this. A beer that everyone here assumed they'd had already, but no one had. Deep hazed dark appearance, frothy tan topping. Aroma of roast, coffee. Taste is roasty dark malts with a nice coffee presence, good malty edge. Very good stout.
3.6 Bevuta alla spina. Aroma di caffè abbastanza intenso. Colore nero ma senza schiuma. Gusto stout delicate. Fgpr
4.0 TGIF! My stock now says "dark beers" after having given obvious priority to the hoppy girls. Going here with a classic stout, unpretentious, as it reads on its label, but smooth and perfectly made. Black pour, small beige head, poor lacing, just some skirt. Aroma of roasted barley, licorice and herbal hops. Tastes roasty and bitter, licorice and herbal hops as Mr Nose said. Smooth, light bodied, the old school perfect stout!
4.0 Lata de @Vivalabirra, Oviedo. 29/08/2019 Color negro opaco, corona de espuma beige, aromas torefacto, regaliz, sabor regaliz, tostado, cuerpo ligero.
3.4 V Trip Time Beer. Vona kavy ide hned. Kavova nepriesvitna farba. Pena sa zlahka drzi. V chuti melta skor ako kava, sladkost ku koncu voda. Po chvili len na podnebi citit neurcitu horkost a vodu. Skoda.
3.9 June 6, 2018 - at Southampton Arms - on handpull cask. Black pour, smallish tan head (4-). Very very malty aroma - chocolate, nutty and low-level sweet - just a little bitterness - almost a sweet stout (no lactic or acidic character) and an appealing aroma for sure. Taste follows - a little more herbal bitterness, with very little alcohol presence - still malty, nutty chocolate for days, but even better balance than the aroma. Decent body, sticky and mildly carbonated - medium-quick malty finish chocolate with some emerging espresso in the linger. Well-made - my wife loved it.
