2.8 500 ml bottle. BBE Apr/16. (K-Citymarket) Tampere, Finland. Black color with a mid-size foamy light tan head. Mild chocolatey malty aroma and flavor. Easy. Mild hops.
2.9 It’s lower abv lets it down a bit imo. Yeast derived aromas, some leather, olive and brown sugar notes detected with a watery mouth feel. Ok for a mid strength.
3.2 50 cl bottle @ home, BBE 04/2016 Aroma has licorice and toffee typical to English ales. Flavour has licorice, mint and toffee. Finishes with ash and coffee. Nice.
3.3 Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is roast chocolate, toffee, taste is similar, sweet.
3.7 Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - close to opaque black but with a nice head. Nose - smoky earthy, Taste - chocolate, earthy, creamy backdrop. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long and balanced finish. Overall - lovely ale.
3.9 I love this beer, 3.4% but still decent body, Grainy roasty dry chocolate dominates the flavour and it’s awesome! Blends wonderfully with the hops, well balanced, and very smooth finish. A classic English dark mild.
3.6 Pored a dark brown with ruby highlights. Clear with a tan head that quickly disolved. Hints of chocolate and moderate maltiness, also some background hints of raisin, no hop aroma. Light bodied with low carbonation, hints of chocolate and some wet papery oxidation, probably due to age. Overall a nice mild, would like to try a fresher version.
2.9 Bottle, 3.4%. Very dark brown with small beige head. Aroma is light roasted malt, caramel, chocolate and bread. Flavour is light roasted malts, chocolate, medium sweet, chocolate, caramel, thin, little watery and a little bitter.
3.0 @ Greens Discount Liquor / Columbia SC --- Clear very dark ruby with a tiny rim head, no lace. Taste is light malt that quickly into the palate where a thin veneer of roasted chocolate adds body to the brew. The finish is more smooth than hoppy. This is the epitome of session beer. I could drink several 17 oz. bottles in one sitting without missing a beat. Also good with cheese and white crackers, and it even works well with sliders from White Castle. Very successful at what it attempts to be.
3.4 500ml bottle from b&m. Dark almost black colour with a thin white head. Aroma of chocolate and dark fruit. but with a nice amount of black cherry and black berry as well. Flavour is also chocolate with cherry and toasted malt.
3.6 A classic mild at the right gravity sampled on the first hot day of the year. Roasted aroma, big creamy head, the taste belies its strength. Black cherry, hints of coffee and chocolate, toasted muffins, really nice.
2.9 Bottle from B&M Bargains; dark mahogany brown pour with foamy beige head, anise and fruit aroma, taste has dark fruits a hint of liquorice and a subtle hit of coffee.
2.4 NWAF 23 Jan 13. Svart. Lavt skum. Bra sjokoladearoma. Vassen smak. Tørr ettersmak. Bra for alkoholstyrken, dog.

3.2 Bottle morrisons. Black slight red colour thin tan head. Aroma is chocolate roasted malts. Taste is cocoa slight roasted malts with bitter coffee aftertaste. Palate a bit dissapointing thin watery strong carbonation this let’s it down.
3.0 Appearance: Clear ruby/brown with cm thick ivory head. Aroma: Bread, chocolate, fruity, roast/burnt malts and burnt caramel. Taste: Medium bitterness and sourness, low sweetness. Palate: Thick grainy texture, light body, average carbonation, dry burnt malty lingering finish. Comments: Tasty mild.
3.3 Aroma: Chocolate, but with a nice amount of black cherry and black berry as well. Maybe a little fruitier than expected, but very nice. Appearance: Dark ruby with a ring of bone head. Flavor: Chocolate and light cherry mingle up front; the finish is dry and somewhat chalky. Palate: Light body, thin texture, flat carbonation, long finish. Overall: A nice mild with some interesting character.
2.1 Bottle. Pours red mahogany with little head that leaves no lace. Aroma is faint hazelnuts and earthy notes. Lightly bitter and lightly sweet, watery body, flavors of hazelnuts and coffee, oily texture, average to light carbonation and a lightly somewhat sticky bitter finish. Ho hum.
3.2 Thanks to Seanyfo. The Beer is very dark, white-beige head. malty-chocolate smell. The beer starts a bit watery, malty. Dry. The mainpart is medium-deep, a bit roasted, very dry. But not very deep. In the aftertaste hazelnut, roasted malt dominate. The nutty aroma lasts long with dry roasted malts. --> Nice aroma, but could be a bit more deep. --> 12/12/9/10
3.5 Bottle from B&M, Stockton. Pour deep mahogany with a big foamy tan head that lasts well. Has a quite thin and watery feel, which isn’t surprising considering the strength. Good flavours though. Quite dry with plenty of malt and a hint of chocolate and coffee.
3.4 500 ml bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a thin wispy head that leaves a tiny collar. Aroma has strong English malt and bitter bakers chocolate. Taste is bitter up front with malt and more chocolate and more hops in the finish. Palate is thin and chalky. Solid!
3.6 Bottle at draught 55. Pours dark ruby with light nose of cholate malts. Tastes of chocolate, dark fruits, molasses, and cola. Nice and mild but with good flavor. I have been craving this style as of late
3.5 pours an opaque brown with a thick creamy tan head...nice lacing and retention. aroma has chocolate...like tootsie rolls...and earthy dry leaves...just a light touch of hops. flavor follows suit...nice balance...leaning just a bit to the hoppy side but not excessively bitter. true to style. mouthfeel is medium/full and the finish is earthy/hoppy with a touch of chocolate...dries and lingers with hoppy/roastiness.
4.2 Appearance: Very dark, ruby. Almost stout-like. Aroma: Very strong coffee smells with a hint of chocolate. Taste: Again coffee, slight hint of hazlenut/chocolate. Light bitter, acute after taste.
3.8 Dark with ruby hints and a good creamy head diminishing to suds.Liquorice in the aroma and on the tongue, followed by roast and coffee flavours. Light body, slips smoothly down leaving a velvety chocolate finish. Really very good.
3.2 Clear very dark brown beer with a frothy beige head. A light, malty aroma. There’s a bit hit of malt on the tongue and a slight chocolatey hint to it with a hoppy edge as well. The aftertaste is a sort of hoppy, coffee blend. It’s lighter than I was expecting too, both in terms of strength and body.
3.5 Liquorice on the nose. Frothy head very dark ruby appearance. Low carbonation and almost stouty taste. Slightly bitter/burnt malty aftertaste. Good starter/relaxed drink.
3.5 Small head, attactive deep red against light. Aromas of chocolate and granary toast with malteasers. Palate very well balanced with more chocolate and malt with a bit of coffee but also some hoppy undertones a great all rounder.
3.4 (Bottle): Pours a black with brown tinges, small white head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, nuts and some coffee. A great roasted flavour with subtle bursts of chocolate, coffee and nuts. Little bit of sweetness on the finish in a good balance with some mild bitterness. Was a nice surprise this, not bad at all!
3.8 Bottle. Almost black ale with a medium frothy mocha head. Aroma of cocoa and coffee. Taste is chocolate, roasted malts, dark fruits and coffee. All of which have blended fell with no one taste overpowering the other. Well balanced. Medium bodied. A very good mild, I imagine the cask would be better and reaching towards a 4.0.
