2.8Taste: malty, some apricot fruit notes, some hops. Mild semi sweet fruit nose. Golden/orange hue, partly unfiltered, with an average head and lace. Medium body. Mellow.
3.4In my past life, I did not think that temperature matters. How wrong can a man be. It matters. A lot! This beer was not at all good when it was chilled. Really nice a room temperature.
A fine deep (dark) golden beer with a fine head. Good intensity in the flavor. At right temperature. Balanced sweetness. Pleasant carbonation level. Easy to drink. Oily texture. Toffee, dried fruits and a bit bready flavor. Nice one.
[Bottle from SPAR at Piccadilly Road (A6)in Manchester, England]
Brewery #1899
2.3Soft foam and darker copper body. Soft aroma of tin and malt. Flavour is caramel ans soft wood hints. Medium finish. Rather boring.
3.0Sweet malty with a toffee hit and slight bitterness. Tasty but only one.
2.8The local off license sells this out of date. Three bottles for £1. An absolute bargain although I feel that I just constantly poo foam all of the time. Not a recommended session beer. Biscuity tones (more an Oreo than a custard cream).
3.1chocolate, caramel, golden, clear, tan foam, minimal head, heavy cloying sweetness, medium bitterness,
2.5Bottle from B&M, Team Valley, Gateshead. A golden beer with a toffee, malty and caramel flavour followed by a slight floral hoppy bitter-sweet finish. Ok.
3.7Served in a snifter from a 500ml bottle. Pours clear amber with a white head. Aroma is caramel malts with bready notes. Taste is bitter-sweet, predominantly malty with notes of caramel and biscuit, with a short soft bitter and hoppy finish. Medium body with medium carbonation. Very drinkable, refreshing and enjoyable. Nice one.
3.9Lovely stuff. Poured into ceramic stein as outdoors . Light light tasting. Refreshing lemon slice aroma and in mouth. Creamy pine in there too. So easily sunk. Did not drink like 5.1%. Would be great for session

2.8Bottle from M&S Stratford and drunk at home. Clear copper amber colour with lasting ivory head. Malty pasteurised aroma. Some fruity malt flavour later on . Not much hop. Just the pasteurisation doesn’t help. Gets better later but still not great. Don’t pasteurise beer please.
2.9Don’t know if it’s a English strong ale more an e.s.b thin head floral hints some stone fruit bitter hoppy finish
3.0Sharezie from Rory Duncan watching rugby World Cup. Malty ale with brown ale overtones. Hopping to balance but overall sweet.
3.3Appearance is copper, hardly any head. Aroma- toffee and caramel, raisin hints, malty, brown sugar. Taste- brown bread, lots of caramel and treacle, brown sugar, yeast, malty finish. Very nice.
1.0Wonderfull etiquette :) and all bottle design... But beer not so good, don't feel sweet flavours...
3.3Bottle from Booths. Amber with a rapidly diminishing head. Light malt aroma with a hint of citrus and plums - though this description is slightly biased after reading the tasting notes 1001 Beer to Drink before you Die! Good malty body, bitter yet sweet. Nice fruity notes. A decent ale.
3.3Hazy , amber color; thin , white head. Aroma of malt , bread and fruits. Malty taste with fruity notes. Notes of English hops in the end . Moderate bitterness.
1.3500ml bottle, 2007 aged, @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, May 15, courtesy of Mike. Cobweb nose, murky dusty taste. Not a fair tasting admittedly. Definitely not aged well.
2.7500ml bottle - smooth taste if somewhat lacking in a palate and real taste. Quite disappointing.
3.8A very solid strong ale very drinkable caramel, orange, clear, white foam, light sweetness, medium bitterness, medium body, thick feel, average carbonation,
3.0Enjoyable strong English ale served in a pint .9 fl oz bottle. Found this on a clearance rack at Wines and More in Mansfield MA and took a chance. Slightly fruity, slightly malty. Cloudy amber color. A nice ale.
3.1Bottle from Morrisons, amber with a light caramel malty nose, body is sweetish yet fairly crisp, touches of citrus and toffee.
3.1500ML bottle. Decent beer, not spectacular but decentwith caramel on the nose and a slightly bitter finish on the palate.
3.3500ml bottle. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aromas of toffee and light spice. Taste is light sweet, bitter herbal tingle at the back. Medium body, clean finish. Not bad.
3.0Bottle at home. Poured a lovely golden with white head that soon cleared, notes of caramel and toffee, some malt. Pleasant pint.
2.2A lovely golden brown colour to the pour. Not much aroma. Strong malty taste with a little bitter aftertaste. All round an ok beer but nothing special
3.4Got this on the discount rack at my local store. Mild, malty aroma, with some caramel and toffee. Bready flavor with caramel and toffee. A little citrus in a somewhat watery finish. Better than I expected.
3.2Pours a clear copper color with a thick head and a good bit of lacing. Aroma of citrus, fruity with a bit of malt sweetness and grain. Taste of citrus, bit of malt sweetness, fruity with grain. Mild bitterness and a bit of a fruity finish. Fairly light body, smooth with a what seems like a grainy texture. Drinkable beer but short on the Strong Ale feel.
3.3Appearance: Clear copper with finger thick ivory head.
Aroma: Biscuit, floral, hint of citrus and marmalade.
Taste: Low bitterness, low/medium sourness and medium sweetness.
Palate: Thick smooth texture, light body, average carbonation, biscuit, citrusy lingering finish.
Comments: Very tasty and glass lace.
3.0Hazy amber/gold color; Medium creamy body; Aroma of caramel malt, hops, & fruit; Flavor of slight sweet malt, caramel, hops, and fruit; Not too bad - but a strong ale?
