2.7 Smooth and mild beginning. Grainy, not too deep, not too much bitterness. Easy to drink Helles, slightly grainy-sweetish in the end but round.
3.0 From Gene’s. Not bad. Bready and malty, bitter to balance. Soft palate. Serving: Bottle
2.8 Pours a clear golden color topped with a rather small white head. Mild malty aroma, bready and grainy. Bready taste, some hints of bitterness in the finish. Not bad, but nothing to get excited about.
2.8 Total Wine, Delaware 50cl: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is grains, more hops than expected I suppose, but not really in a good way, and some bread. Taste is grainy and bready. It is not smooth and mellow in the way that I like helles style beers. This is an average, but not a good example of the style.
2.9 Grainy aroma, light bitterness, bread and cream and sweet malt flavors. Poured into a tall German beer glass resulted in constant bubbles and yellow bodied lager. $4 for a 500 ml old returnable swing top at Total Wine. Consumed during the World Cup Final.
2.7 Bottle 50cl, a clear golden beer with low head. Aroma is low malty, kind of dusty hops, medium bitterness, bit low body, wet paper touch, boring.
3.2 (bottle) clear yellow amber colour with a small white head; aroma of noble hops, caramel; sightly creamy palate; gentle balanced flavour with a hint of sweetness
3.7 Pretty custom bottle. Pale golden colour, fluffy head. Aroma of grain, straw, yeast. Medium body. The taste has a hoppy charakter that would rather be a Pilsner than Helles. At finish & in aftertaste hops dominate as well. Crafty German example.
2.9 500 ml flip-top bottle in Coral Springs, Florida. This bottle traveled a lng way to meet me and it shows. It like so many other German beers did not travel well. Would really like to have this fresh in the homeland. Pours a golden yellow with a soft white head. Aroma tells you that it was exposed to high temps. Malt fruit and some paper. Taste is deep sweet maly. Palate is smoh but soiled.
2.9 500ml Flasche. Ins Glas ergießt sich ein goldgelbes Bier mit durchschnittlicher Schaumkrone. Geruch malzig, getreidig, leicht herb. Geschmack malzig würzig, getreidig, minimale Bitterkeit.
2.0 bottle, picked up in weiden. sometimes i wonder why i bother with all these helleses. anyways, golden, dull grainy aroma, light bitterness, yawn
3.0 500 ml bottle, very drinkable, only the second Hell I got to know, I really can’t explain why I like this beer a lot, only a year ago I would have dismissed it as to weak. But taste evolves and I would surely have another of these given the opportunity
2.7 Generic malty helles lager, very bready aroma and taste. So-so appearance with malt finish. Average.
1.5 Weak malty and floral aroma, also some green apple. Almost no head. Clear golden body. Taste covered by unpleasant bitterness.
3.1 Als Lagerbier wäre es wohl eins der besten weltweit, doch auch als Helles weiß es zu überzeugen. Leicht in Malz und Honig mit einer netten Süffigkeit und Milde. Leicht trinkbar, einfach nett.
2.9 Pours out in a clear golden-yellow colour with low steady head and medium body. Boring aroma of dull hops and hay. Taste of hops, straw, flowers, caramel and nuts. Easy to drink, refreshing. Solid beer.
2.7 500 ml swing top to pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Bottle says it’s 4.7%. Looks alright a transparent gold with razor-thin white lacing and soft carbonation. Smells and tastes biscuity with a bit of skunkiness. Average on the palate. Okay for what it is.
2.2 .5L swingtop as pictured. I got my haircut this morning and was pleasantly relieved that I could not pull my hair out due to the absolute mediocre-ness of this beer. Look at the description above. ?Full flavored and light, mildly in taste and hoppy? Did a drunken translator from central China translated that from Bavarian? head is nearly extinct. Lackluster yellow gold. body is sickeningly sweet hops appear briefly and then continue to another beer. Meh. Boo Hiss.
1.3 500 ml. bottle. Pours dark yellow with almost no head. I wonder if my bottle is past its prime. Do dates to be found, but not very enjoyable at all.
3.5 Mostly full 500ml swingtop bottle. Opened and resealed several hours ago. Clear golden color. Thin white head. Couple loose bits of lace. Medium body. Crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry in the finish. Pretty satisfying smooth texture, not too hard to drink, unlike the wheat beers. Good doughy bready flavor. Nice satisfying hop to it - lightly spicy hop, light hint of grassiness to it. Perfect amount for the style, I think. Good moderate sweet taste, light bitter. Pretty refreshing, easy drinking. I didn’t finish the dunkelweizen or the hefe, but I actually finished this one relatively quickly, because it was legitimately tasting. This is surprising after how bad the other two were. Very satisfying lager. Much better than expected. Maybe it sitting around and breathing a little did well for this?
3.1 Clear yellow-gold with a tall, off-white head. Aroma is hay, lemon, malt. Taste is slightly bready, light fruit sweetness, trace of hop bitter. Fairly creamy...light. Pretty good, but simple.
3.2 Almost three fingers of head on a hazy, medium straw colored body. The aroma is faint overall; a little grain. Should have a lot more going on here. The taste is light bitterness with some graininess to it. The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation. Not great, not bad.
3.1 It’s golden with a creamy, white head. The aroma has notes of malt, hay and light flower. The flavor has a light sweetness and notes of malt, flower, grass and the finish is fairly dry with a light bitterness.
3.3 Slightly hazy gold with a thin white head. A grainy, baked bread aroma. Somewhat malty with notes of biscuit. Dry mildly bitter finish. Very drinkable but unremarkable.
2.7 Pale yellow coloured. Small off white head. Aroma of fruits and light grass. Flavour as well on the vague side. Some fruits and light herbs.
2.5 Pours a clear and yellow beer with a white head. The aroma is malt and DMS. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is dry. Overall a boring beer.
3.1 Bottle. Golden beer with an off-white head. Malt and light earth aroma with light mineral. Malt and earthy flavor with light mineral. Medium bodied. Easy drinking. Malt and earth lingers with light mineral.
2.7 Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is malt, light grass and fruity notes. Flavour is malt, caramel, grass, pine and fruity notes.
3.3 The official Odense sunny Thursday evening in June monster tasting event. Hazy golden with a lasting white head. Malty aroma with a bit of hay. Sweet malty flavour with grassy hops and a faint fruity touch
3.2 Bottle @ Odense Tasting, June 2012 (SfHOdense). Pours clear golden with a small white head. Hay and grass. Medium bodied. Very clean and quaffable.
