Pipkin pale malt, Crystal malt and maltose syrup. Challenger and Goldings hops. Morland’s original yeast. A quite unique, strong, bottle-conditioned ale with an original gravity of 1059, full of flavour and character with a richly malted aroma and a nice, smooth finish. From a blend of Pale Ale and Crystal malts, this is a rich and satisfying beer with good presentation. A strongish beer in terms of alcohol, but there’s no bite from this Hen’s Tooth!

2.9Bottle. Backlog rating from bottle collection and historic scoring. Source not recorded. No tasting notes kept, just rating.
4.0phenomenal british strong ale. really light in colour for the type of brew that this is. on the nose it is reminiscent of hobgoblin and other ruby beers, but it tastes so much stronger. fantastic hoppy aftertaste that just grows and grows. essentially, it is old speckled hen on steroids. a cracking brew from morland.
3.2Pours an average amount of foamy head and has a clean, amber/copper appearance. Weak lacing. Has aromas of barley malts, mild caramel malts and some herbal hops. Flavours are equally malty with toffee, caramel and brown sugary notes. Hops are mainly herbal and earthy types. Also some toasted malts and berries in the finish. Much more sweetness than bitterness. A good balance nonetheless. Fairly creamy and smooth mouthfeel. Pretty good stuff.
3.1Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is caramel, earthy hop, toffee, slightly fruity, a little weak, ok. Appearance is dark amber brown, light tan head, clear. Taste is caramel, nutty, earthy hop, slight metallic, fruity, ok. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, earthy hop caramel aftertaste. Overall, it’s ok but I like the subtleties of the regular version more.
3.1Clear 500ml bottle in Blaendulais as ’Morland Hen’s Tooth Bottle Conditioned Strong Ale’, 6.5%. Dark amber, reddish to light, translucent, foamy creamy off white, light lacing. Aroma is redcurrant, candi sugar, Belgian strong ale. Body is frothy with tingly carbonation. Taste is interesting burnt biscuit, well toasted crumpet, metallic notes, quite spicy, decent bitterness hit. Quite a nice flavour to it but a touch overcarbonated maybe and not much aroma. Fine. 3.2500ml bottle Tesco - Amber body, clear, no head really. Nose is toffee and caramel, taste is a fruity toffee flavour, ripe finisg. Not too bad for the price.
W zapachu świeże, nieco cytrusowe i chmielowe. Nuty te potwierdziły się w smaku, pojawiło się też nieco więcej goryczki. Alkohol dobrze ukryty... Obniżenie oceny wynika z faktu, że piwo to niczym specjalnym się nie wyróżnia, niczym nie zaskakuje.
2.9500ml bottle. Why do they put this in a clear glass bottle and have it exposed to skunky ruining ?and it’s bottle conditioned too ..totally nonsensical. The nose is dusty yeast, boiled sweets, old leather furniture, and some skunny vibes that are off putting. Fire orange with a beige head ...Tastes like it smells . Meh
2.9Bottle. Dark toffee ale with a dark cream head. Smells like toffee and a bit of biscuit. Taste is heavy on the malt. A touch of metallic. Some toffee notes and very little "kick" for the decent ABV percent. Surprisingly light.
3.2Bottle from Tesco. Pours hazy golden amber with a thin white head. Aromas of toffee apple, stewed fruit, caramel. Taste is sweet, burnt biscuit and syrup. Sweet, but also dry finish.
3.2Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl.
Appearance - deep amber with a thin head.
Nose - honey and stewed apple. Some toffee.
Taste - syrup and burnt biscuit.
Palate - close to medium bodied. Dry crunchy/tangy middle section. Dry, but gnarly finish.
Overall - ok.
3.0The beer has a floral sweet aroma with toffee, banana, butterscotch. Also feels a bit oxydated. Taste is delicate sweet with some little dry/sour finish. Overall not bad.
2.7Bottle. I found this beer to have a strong distinct yeast taste that reminded me of sick that I naturally found off putting. Ive had a few stronger (6% and above) beers with this taste and I think it comes down to the yeast and brewing process and my odd palette. Other than that flavours of caramel, malt and English noble hops come through. Thin body. Other than the decent ABV its rather a dull pint
3.0Bottle from BevMo! in Menlo Park, CA. Aroma is toffee, corn syrup, old soggy well water. Taste is earthy malts and soggy vegetal hops. Some mineral qualities and then some artificial sugary bits.
2.8Old review before making ratebeer account. Not bad, but had fairly yeasty flavor.

2.8Medium brown colour with red tint. Decent white head leaving some lacing. Medium body, low carb. Flavours of water biscuits, toffee and red apple. Balance isn’t great.
3.4A typical strong bitter, but with a pungent flavour of yeast from the bottle conditioning. It was an enjoyable pint, but it didn’t have the smoothness that we are now getting with the modern ESBs.
3.1Pours hazy copper colored. Thick cream colored head, small bubbles. Aroma of hay, cut grass. Very sweet and alcoholic right on the front. Has some biscuity flavors, along with raisins. Acidic.
3.1Hazy red brown with small tan head. Malty aroma of crackers. Strong malty/sort of sweet flavor right at the front and a real kick of alcohol. Definitely unusual. Finishes strongly with a bit of burn.
3.1Wow, what a hit of malt. Satisfyingly caramel flavours linger on the tongue. Packs a mean punch at 6.5% too. Rare as a hens tooth but worth a buy!
2.3Normally like all Moreland ale but was disappointed with Hen’s tooth. Brewed by Greene King I thought it tasted closer to a Greene King type ale then a Moreland, The ale is strong but lacked character to me, found it very average & forgettable, much prefer an Old Speckled Hen any day of the week to this.
3.0Amber thin head sherry leather alcohol gives it a nice warmth. Bottle at home from morrisons.
2.8Pours copper with a huge fluffy white head. Skunky aroma with earthy hops. Pronounced earthy hops bitterness, herbal tones, citrus notes, leather. Dry, bitter finish. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Noticeable alcohol warmth.
2.7Butelka . Ladny bursztynowy kolor. Piana biala niska szybko zanikajaca.W zapachu slodowe nuty ale takze banany i karmel.w snaku rowniez slodkawe o owocowej zgnilej nucie z bardzo wyczuwalnym alkoholem.

1.8Caramel, toast aroma with hint of herbal and floral hops.
Too much white foam , but a wonderful super clear deep amber colour
Undrinkable overcarbed example... A waste of money and time. Probably too old bottle
