Mother Earth Sin-Tax (Sintax) Imperial Stout

Mother Earth Sin-Tax (Sintax) Imperial Stout

Don’t let it fool you. This is an imperial stout first and foremost. Deep dark malts lend espresso notes and British crystal malts contribute the perfect toffee and caramel flavor. Despite the dry finish there is a wonderful molasses character compliments of brown cane sugar, and just enough residual sugar to finish full-bodied but never cloying. The peanut butter is simply featured to augment what is already there…a fantastic example of a legendary beer style.

3.6 Creamy tan stayed all the way on a thick jet black still body. Peanut butter, liquorice & malt aroma. Full bodied, creamy, smooth & oily on the palate with a cloying back. Malt, demerara, liquorice, spices & peanut butter tastes with pine, citrus & light hops on the finish.
3.7 11/24/19 - East Point, Ga - on tap at Malone's Bar and Grille. Dark brown pour, light off-white head, thin lacing. Top soil, generic peanut butter in the aroma. Flavor has some baker’s unsweetened chocolate, some store brand peanut butter, essence of topsoil. Thickish, dry mouthfeel. Pretty decent.
2.5 Draught at Harry's Hofbrau. Deep brown with beautiful, huge brown head. Falls apart after the appearance and it is a bit of scorched caramel. Molasses doesn't work with the rest of the beer.
4.0 Dunkles Bier schöner schaum, im Geruch Walnüsse malzig, im Geschmack Ahorn Sirup und Walnuss malzig röstmalz, sehr nussig vor allem Walnüsse das gefällt mir
4.2 12oz Dose. Dunkelbraun, fast schwarzes Bier. Hoher schöner brauner Schaum. Ahornduft. Nussig. Im Antrunk richtig nussig. Hat was von einem Langnese Maple Walnut Eis. Süss, aber noch an der Grenze zu zu süss. Es bleibt nussig auf der Zunge. Für mich eher Walnuss wie Peanuts?!
4.0 (Thanks, Jim! "Ozzy70") Can. A- Peanut butter, mild chocolate, mild espresso. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Peanut butter, cocoa, molasses, roasty, slightly sweet, subtle bitterness. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, dry finish. O- This is one of the best PB beers I've had. Wanted to try it against Blue Pants Pinstripe PB Stout but ended up trading that away. This had a decadent aroma of pure peanut butter, maybe even a bit Reese like. The flavor didn't quite match but was still good. Lots of peanut butter and some molasses and cocoa. Roasty, dry and a subtle lingering bitterness that really balanced it all out. A tiny but sweet but far from cloying and very natural tasting. Really well done.
3.4 Can. Very dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is dark roasted grains and coffee. Taste is kind of sweet. Coffee, nutty and roasted grains.
3.8 Pours one of the richer brown colors I have seen without getting overly dark and close to black. Has an extra large dark mocha head that continues to grow from the bottom long after the pour is complete. Good looking beer in the glass. I have to say I'm having a bit of hard time putting my finger on the aroma, but it smells pretty good. A bit sweet smelling but also bitter and fruity. This beer is pretty yummy but slightly boozy tasting. Smooth sweetness with burnt toffee and a bitter finish. Smooth and rich in the mouth but still pretty clean mouth feel. I have only had one other peanut butter stout (Port Huron) and it may have been a bit better (though not an imperial), but I am impressed with this beer. I'll be drinking another one of these at some point.
3.3 Can. Poured black with a tan head. Aroma of peanut butter, nuts, brown sugar, milk chocolate, roasted malt. Taste was mild sweet, peanut butter, milk chocolate, nut.
3.0 (fraise-choco-cara-nut, ~onctueuse, ~beurre peanut, mais ça fait vite artificiel (je fuis les ‘with natural flavor added’))
3.7 355ml can. Pours a clear dark brown with red hue and a medium, creamy, long lasting, beige head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, caramel, vanilla, milk chocolate and peanut. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, milk chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, peanut and oats in a dry, mild bitter espresso finish. Medium body with a creamy, oily texture and soft carbonation. Enjoyable.
0.5 No foaminess or head. Thin mouthfeel with bitterfinish and soda like carbonation that is physically visible. Light color for imperial stout. Peanut butter aroma is almost non existent compared to belching beaver’s creamy peanut butter aroma. Cost $10.20.
3.6 33cl can from Pastures Discount Foods. thick creamy beige head. Clear almost black pour. Lots of chocolate. yummy
3.6 I didn't think you could get peanut butter flavor into a beer in a pleasant way, and I was proven wrong. Nice dark stout balances well a strange sweet savory of the peanut.
3.8 On draft at the Bodacious Pig in Boise. Pours a sinful black with an abundant beige head. The aroma is definitely peanut butter but with strong dark chocolate and some vanilla notes. The Mouthfeel is rich and satisfying. The taste of course, peanut butter, but not overpowering . Nice balance of dark chocolate, some roast coffee, hints of brown sugar and vanilla. It lingers long and echos pb..pb..pb....(nice).
4.1 Can from Total Wine in San Jose. Pours black with a heavy body and a light tan head. Rich sweet imperial stout aroma. Malty, caramel, low bitterness, maybe some lactose. Very good.
4.0 Can, 330 ml. Complex Imperial Stout. Dark brown colour, beige creamy head. Aromas of maraschino cherry, cherry bon-bon, milk chocolate, lactose, some sweet coffee. The taste is full, has a nice body, i don't feel the peanut butter, instead it's cherry again with chocolate on the palate. It's like a chocolate fruitcake, big and full taste with a pleasent IBU balancing sweet tones. Bullseye for me, great complexity!
3.9 Sampled from a can this beer poured a black color with a medium sized fluffy tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was peanut, molasses and maple. The flavor was peanut, maple, brown sugar, cola and a bit of wood. Turns dry on the very long finish with lingering brown sugar and maple. Medium body.
3.2 12oz can. Poured a near black color with an averaged sized tan head. Roast, chocolate, vanilla, nutty and coffee.
3.2 On the mild side of what you'd expect from an Imperial Peanut Butter Stout, which isn't an altogether bad thing. Sugariness is kept in check, so the chocolate and brown sugar are apparent without growing overbearing. But the dark fruit and cherry leans towards a metallic undertone, and the peanut butter notes are too subdued against these acidic notes. Texture's on the thin side, but the Reese Cup nose is nice. Eh. You could do better. You also could do a lot worse.
2.9 Bottle pour. Very dark brown with a large tan creamy head. Aroma is molasses, nuts, peanut butter, and roasted malts. Full smooth body. Light bitter with a strong salty finish.
3.8 Can. Pours a dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of chocolate malt, chocolate fudge, peanuts, maple syrup, roasted malt. Flavor of chocolate, maple, chocolate syrup, roasted nuts, mocha. Not very peanut buttery, but still a tasty chocolatey imperial stout. Sweet. 8/4/8/4/14 (3.8/5)
4.0 Pours a three finger khaki head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Black color, no highlights. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Caramel nose and flavor is caramel, brown sugar and hints of peanut butter. Not cloying. Higher ABV, 8.1%, is hidden. $2.45 for a 12oz can from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.
3.0 Medium, greige head, rather stable over jet-black beer. Chocolate, vanilla, vanilla creamcookies, speculoos spread, caramel spread - sweet! Bitter(ish) roasted, almonds, peanuts; caramel & sweet underneath but getting the upper hand, again vanilla but in a mediocre, synthetic cream way. Some dried spinach or other dark green, non-bitter vegetable under an Ersatz chocolate layer. Rich, velvety feel, warming, gumming out some of the... Clashing flavours all over the place; vanilla/buttery cream impression as from British cookies (and that is NOT a compliment), in a near-offputting way. Meh.
3.5 Canned from BevMo. Rich and roasty up front with a sort of odd sweetness to it. A little bit of nuttiness. Full flavored with well hidden alcohol. A little bitter in the finish. Drinkable stout. Might be better without the peanut butter.
3.5 12 fl oz can. Appearance is a clear dark mahagony brown black, with a finger if tan froth which persists quite well. Aroma is roasted malt and espresso coffee. Taste is lightly sweet, burnt sugar, roasted malts and coffee, with a nutty flavour. As described by the brewer, this is a (light) imperial stout first, with a hint of nuttiness.
3.8 DATE: January 11, 2019... OCCASION: Friday's here and a double helping of Mother Earth purchases (their Primordial is in can for tomorrow)... GLASSWARE: Duvel snifter... pour a staunch, jet black body with an off-white, uneven surf of head... intense peanut brittle, oat, toasted bread, light chocolate, and lactic aromas make this a dessert beer for sure; a strength of floral hops rounds this into more than the usual porter... in fact, some sugary fruitiness makes this even more intriguing... gritty, biting, full-bodied, with a long-lasting flourish that lingers... this is a BIG, flavorful experience, replete with peanut butter, chocolate, toasted bread, floral and citric elements, and sweet malts--this is a wallop at 8.1%, though it hits harder than its weight... I find this a manageable entry in the style, worthy of sipping and savoring... slightly boozy and lingering in its profile...
4.0 Can from Rehills, Newcastle. Black with a huge tan head of foam. It has a sweet milk chocolate and peanut butter flavour with more milk chocolate and warming nuttiness on the liqourice, chocllate finish. Very good.
3.5 Black pour with a thin off white head and spots of lacing .... aroma of brown sugar, maple syrup, roasted malts, chocolate and vanilla .. taste is of maple syrup, brown sugar, roasted malts, chocolate and vanilla .... finish is dry roasted and chocolate with vanilla and maple syrup with brown sugar .... sweet and maple syrup finish ... average
