Mother Earth Weeping Willow Wit

Mother Earth Weeping Willow Wit

This beer style is over 400 years old, and continues to enjoy overwhelming popularity. Offering low hop bitterness, it is easy to enjoy. It pours very hazy, with a light gold color... we say it’s like summertime in a glass. Bitter orange peel and fresh coriander add zest and depth to this light, refreshing beer.

2.8 Bottle: Hazy light gold with a small white head. Grain....honey/lemon scent. Sweet grain malt flavour......not very citrusy....not very lively. Forgettable, at best.
2.5 name and label reminded me of a large willow in my property as a kid unfortunately the beer wont be creating such fond memories. Pours an extremely pale gold reminiscent of apple cider. Has a very light lemony granny smith apple and wheat flavor. extremely light aroma. A tiny bit of bitterness finishes almost as soon as it starts. some carbonation but virtually no head.
2.8 Bottle. Lactic lemon, coriander, and wheat malt aroma. Hazy golden yellow with small head. Sweet milky lemon, coriander, wheat malt, and straw flavor. Light body. Okay but pretty bland.
3.1 Medium to no strong aroma. Pours out golden yellow like a typical wit beer. Decent sized head at the top of the beer. Light orange flavored taste that is perfect for a summer beer on the porch.
3.4 Alisa brought this one back for me from a trip to North Carolina. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy yellow color with a medium sized foamy white head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was egg white, dust, lemon and cracker. The flavor was musty, pepper, coriander, yeast and sweet honey. Long finish. Medium body. Solid.
3.0 Bottle at dinner in Nags Head. Hazy orange yellow. Tart orange flavor, fairly sweet. More like an American wheat than a wit, lacking Belgian yeast flavor or any spicy character. Bland and kind of uninteresting.
3.0 Draft. Cloudy yellow body, white head. Aroma of coriander, toasted grain, soap, floral hops. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly tart. Medium body, watery/sticky texture, lively carbonation. Gummy in the mouth with a soapy aftertaste. Light coriander taste.
3.3 Gold and spicy. A bit too much spice in my opinion and the aftertaste had a bit of funk. Orange zestiness was a plus. Picked up in Asheville in 2015.
4.0 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a wheat and yeast aroma with a slight floral add on. Appearance- This is a golden yellow colored beer with a small white head. Taste- Has a nice flavor of wheat and yeast with maybe a hint of banana. Palate- A light bodied beer with moderate carbonation with a slightly thick/oily texture. Overall- A really good witbier, I will drink this againl
3.3 Old rating. Cloudy gold pour. Lemon, coriander, wheat body. Yeast is present but not too overwhelming. Well balanced and light.
3.5 12oz bottle, purchased on 2/23/15 from Habersham in Savannah. Bottled 10/13/14. Clear golden color. Good thin white head. Decent ridge of lace. Up front, very bready tasting, tastes very much like a very clean lager.. Not necessarily a bad thing, just not what I was expecting for the style. Good coriander and zest comes forward next. Medium body. Smooth, kind of soft, kind of crisp lighter to moderate carbonation. Light slick texture. Moderate sweet taste, good mild zest. Light spiciness. Pretty tasty, balanced belgian wheat ale. Nice to enjoy with my sandwich.
2.6 Very aggressive soda like carbonation on the pour but a disappointing lack of foam. Typical aromas & cloudy pale yellow color for the style. Very very sweet, almost artificially so. A lot of bubblegum, the usual clove & coriander spiciness & maybe some tropical fruit? Overall smooth, fruity & sweet.
3.0 Keeping real wit style. Tickers gotta tick tick tick tick tick, tick it off tick it off! Coriander, nanners, nickels, and corn flakes. Killing it.
3.6 12 oz bottle poured into an Ise Kadoya glass, thanks to a friend! Slightly hazy straw yellow with a finger of off-white head. Aromas of herbs, spices, lemon lime, coriander. Tastes of lemon lime, coriander, herbs, wheat, light spice. Medium-light body with a dry finish.
3.3 Aroma of Belgian Yeast and spice. Pale straw color with a short lasting white head. Watery feel with a taste of bananas and cloves. Spicy clove finish.
3.3 Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow color with little head retention. Aroma of lemon grass, pepper, Belgium spice and coriander in taste. Smooth pepper finish. Above average carbonation. Pretty easy to drink. Just enough taste.
3.6 Hazed yellow pour with cream white head and lace. Aroma is a lot of wheat. Flavor is wheaty with a flat wheat bitter. Light medium bodied beer with good carbonation. ok beer
2.4 Bottle. I don’t get any aroma from it, either the bottle or the glass. No head, golden yellow color. Tastes alright, smooth, light to moderate carbonation. Floral maybe, and citrus taste. Not a fan, kind of average.
3.4 Multiple 12oz bottles consumed at a wedding in NC this past weekend. Poured a light golden color with a small white head. Aroma was notes of light grain, sweet, crispness, light orange notes. Flavor was light sweet zesty notes, wheat, and a little tartness. Perhaps not my first choice, but it quenched my thirst when it was nearly 100 degrees and I had to wear a tux for an outdoor wedding.
3.4 Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with white head. Wheat, spicy, straw, slight citrus aromas. Coriander, citrus, spicy, yeast, wheat flavors. Pretty nice belgian wit.
2.7 Pours straw colored with minuscule head. Very light and floral aroma. Flavor is also light with some citrus and honeysuckle notes.
3.2 A great Witbier from a local brewery. Found it to be a very refreshing and has a great finish.
3.5 Appearance: cloudy yellow color ... White head ... Came on draft, slightly translucent Aroma: slight funk smell, lemony, citrus Taste: citrusy flavor, the flavor of the sip comes toward the end, slightly funky but I'm a good way Palette: carbonation on tongue, light body beer slight bitterness at end but very subtle Overall: this is a very tasty beer and I would definitely get again
3.1 Refreshing taste, but lingering citrus afterburn. A little too strong on the citrus notes.
3.2 Not a big fan of wit beers, but this has an interesting lemony/coriander kind of spiciness. Served very cold, it would be a great summer drinker with grilled fish, barbeque, or Mexican fare.
3.5 Comes together great for style. Coriander and floral yeast, bread yeast. Cloudy golden with good head and lacing. Finishes with light and sweet sourness, some citrus as well. Tap at Summerfest DC.
3.4 On draft at the Pangea Tavern in Avon NC. Pours a cloudy pale yellow gold with a white head. Light herbal nose. Flavors of hibiscus and orange. Crisp clean finish.
3.4 Absolutely love this beer. Nice golden color. Pours a hazy white head. Just the right amount of orange peel and coriander. Great summer brew.
3.0 Bottle @ home, picked up in Charlotte. Pours a fairly murky dull yellow appearance with a dull white head. A lot of spicy coriander in the nose. Orange citrus / citrus peel, spicy yeast nose. Kind of soapy / potpourri flavor. A massive amount of coriander in the flavor. Low sweetness and bitterness. Not too great.
3.8 12 ounce bottle Thanks to my partner in the Carolina swap for yet another excellent session beer. A light wit that goes as well on a cold winter afternoon as during a heat wave it proves that bigger is not always better. I look forward seeing what else the area has to offer. Aroma / Appearance - Active carbonation bubbles in a golden transparent body. Bleached white head appears as if somebody sprinkled a handful of fresh snow on top. Lemon zest, bananas, sweet esters, and crisp dryer sheets perk up the senses after just one whiff. Without going to extremes it has amazing depth. Flavor / Palate - Honey, lemons, and 7UP tickle the tongue. Soon a wave of dryer sheets rises up before sticking in the throat with a yeasty finale. Light and airy it is almost like a summer day in liquid form. This is one of those nice back deck / porch beers that works all four seasons of the year.
