Moylans Moylander Double IPA

Moylans Moylander Double IPA

Our Moylander Double IPA is fat and resiny, with aggressive and excessive hops swinging on an enormous malt backbone like naughty monkeys on a vine. Double malt, double hops - do the math, it's academic.

3.7 Poured a hazy golden orange color with a small off-white head. Aroma was hot booze, caramel, lots of citrus notes, and finishes with pine resin. Flavor was touch of pine sap, lots of citrus, boozy. Light heat on the finish.
3.7 @ SBWF 2015: Riktig tung maltig ipa men även med rätt mycket humle. Trots det ganska len. Gott
3.8 Sample@SBWF2015. Fruktiga aromer med grape och tallbarr.Mycket kraftig beska som sakteliga klingar av. Hyfsad.
3.5 This is a pine hop bomb. Pours orange with ok head and lacing. Pretty bitter finish. Average carbonation. Not a lot of complexity here and not much malt - just a hopbomb. Tap at Snallygaster.
3.8 Draft pour at Snallygaster. Hazy orange with off-white head. Aromas of caramel, sweet malt, citrus. Tastes of citrus, pine, light malt, toasty notes. Medium body with a dry finish.
4.0 On draft at Snallygaster 2015. Pours a clear orange copper with an off white head. Aroma of orange. Flavors of orange, pine and rich malt.
4.0 Another treasure from Whole Foods Kailua. Copper with an eggshell white head that leave "rings" down the side of the glass. Nice scent, well balanced, Yes, it has plenty of the "Left Coast" hops you’d expect but those are nicely countered with some sweet caramel malts. Sweet with a lingering hop follow, good stuff!
3.8 Sample at KØ 15. Hazy orange colour with an off-white head. Aroma and flavour of hops, malt, caramel, fruit, bitterness, grape and citrus.
3.9 Bottle. Hazy orange color. Aroma: tangerines and other citrus. Taste: tangerines, fruity juicy, malty sweetness and bitter finish.
4.0 Bottle. It pours hazy golden with a creMy dense white head. The aroma is sweet peaches, pine and grapefruit. Sweet malty and fresh fruity flavor. Gooseberry, peach, blood orange, fresh grass and grapefruit. Lovely.
4.1 650ml bottle, pours hazy light gold, large foamy white head. Aroma is juicy tropical fruit hop, light sweet caramel, peppery spice. Light medium bodied, creamy, oily texture. Finish is long and bitter. Carbonation is soft.
3.7 Tap at cbf15. Hazy yellow color, white head. Aroma has multifruity notes, orange, grapes. Malty base, orange notes, some soapy notes.
4.0 (bottle 22/05-2015) low white head, slightly unclear yellow color, intense hoppy aroma, good bitterness, rather long hoppy taste, full body. BB date 28.12.15.
3.6 Bottle from Hopology, Nottingham. Hazy gold colour, with a white head. Aroma has tropical fruit, and citrus, but also a touch biscuity. Taste is mid sweet, with a very bitter finish.
4.1 On tap at Le Saint-Bock, hazy amber-orange hue, with a small white head, with a mild honey, lemon candyish lollipop, lemon marmalade nose, with some mild floral citrus, leafy hop, honeyed pale, toasted, caramel malt, faint peachy, apricot accents, and a lemon, grapefruit, orange peel, toffee, light tropical fruit, lemon pie crust, pine needle, bark resin note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a strong warmth, juicy earthy flowery citrus, leafy, grassy, piney, resiny hoppy character, with some spritzy, zesty lemon, grapefruit, lime rind, faint lemon marmalade, candyish lemon lollipop, pine bark, pine resin, faint toasted, caramel malt flavours, leading towards a warming, lemon, grapefruit rind, faint toasted, caramel maltiness, intense lingering leafy, grassy, piney, citrus hop bitterness finish.
3.3 Poured from bomber...nose was all malt to me not getting much hops at all...mouth is the same with malt overload...i just like more hops....good beer just not for a hop head like me....
4.3 Pours a hazy golden orange with a very strong off white head. Aroma is peach juice, tropical, hoppy, grapefruit, strong mango, lemon and orange dominant and a weak lime zest for citrus, heavy and oily pine, all with a great sweet malt backbone. Taste is peach, orange, grapefruit, lemon, biscuit, malt, mango, tropical fruit, average hop bitter. Extremely solid double IPA, much more drinkable than most, the fruit sweetness actually is stronger than the hop bitter, buy a couple of bombers if you like IPAs.
3.6 On draft at Tap 25. I’m pretty sure I’ve had this beer on several occasions throughout the years, but I’m finally getting a chance to rate it. It pours a rich gold color with a lasting white head. The aroma is sweet peachy, florals, citrus and tropical fruit. Not too potent. The flavor is extremely bitter with pine and sweaty tropical fruit. It has an oily body. Pretty good, if a bit heavy on the bitterness.
4.0 24-OCT-2014, bottle @Morten. Huge 9/10, creamy, fluffy, yellow head. Aroma is hops. Perhaps not all that fresh. Pine, fruit, touch of cheese. Taste is so hoppy. Very, very bitter, grape fruit, pine, touch of cardboard. Full body, sweet. Very heavy malty backbone. A rough one. That I like.
3.8 "called a double ipa, but drinks like a hoppy barleywine...a little more hop and a little less pine, and you’d think it was a bigfoot. good beer, not best of style, but worth trying. 2010-as the years pass, this one keeps getting passed, but it’s still good. too much biscuit malt detracts from it, though."
4.0 Pours hazy gold with very large frothy head out of bottle. Pleasant aroma of tropical fruits, citrus, and a mixture of hops. Flavor of citrus, fruit, caramel, and of course hops. Very good beer!
3.6 Nice hoppy bouquet, citrus, mango, pine, decent caramalt backbone, dry hoppy finish. Solid IIPA, but found the muscat version a tad smoother.
3.5 Served on cask at Al’s of Hampden into a nonic pint. A - Pours a clear dark copper color with a thin white head that leaves a very faint lacing down the glass. S - Strong tropical fruit aroma with hints of mango, lemon, and other citrus fruits. A slightly sweet smell from the malt is a welcome addition to the strong hop presence. T - Based on the smell I thought this was going to be a hop bomb, that was not the case. The malt, while hiding slightly behind the strong hop presence in the nose, offers tons of sweet malt flavors that overpower the somewhat subdued hop presence. The hops are there, just not as much as you would expect. M - The body is medium-light with the flavor being a little on the heavy side. Fairly good carbonation that fades over time. The malt flavors linger on the pallet for some time afterwards. D - The nose was much better than the taste. While I enjoyed the opportunity to try this one I just feel that it could have been better, especially for $7 a glass.
3.6 Round orangey citrus aromas, caramel, sweet bread dough. Hazy orange with a lasting white head. Off-dry, initial malt sweetness, mild bitterness, great balance. Medium bodied.
3.4 Sweet caramel and light hoppy and malt aroma. amber orange body and light white head. Nice malt and hop balance with a dry hop bitterness. Crisp and bitter on the palate.
3.3 Bottle. Pours a transparent amber with thick off white head. Aroma of bitterness with some malts. Taste pretty much the same.
3.6 Double IPA indeed. Extremely hoppy, but with a very nice taste. Not one you would drink several of, but one is recommended.
4.1 Bottle. Hazy amber pour, minimal White head. Very hoppy Nose, notes of pine. Mainly hoppy taste, with a bitter malty finish. Medium oily body, soft carbonation.
4.1 On tap in Durham. Pours amber dark malty colour, with long lasting head. Intensive aroma of hoppes selection with citrus fruits, very well balanced, rich but not heavy with undesturbing bitternes. Great beer double IPA!
4.0 On tap at le saint bock in montreal. Dark amber/copper pour, with a sticky off white head. Aroma of super sticky pine resins, sweet malts, some caramels, and citrus marmalade. The mouth feel is thick and oily, with a soft carb. The finish is very bitter, loads of pine resins and soft citrus notes, with a solid amount of bready, sweet boozy malts. This is an old school american double ipa. Great stuff.
