Mühlen Kölsch

Mühlen Kölsch

Mühlen Kölsch has been brewed and filled by hand in the traditional way since 1858, in the original building of the Brewery zur Malzmühle at the Hay Market. Only natural, raw ingredients of the highest quality are used: barley malt and a small portion of wheat malt, high-quality aroma hops, spring water and yeast. The combination of ingredients and production using an old family recipe dating back to 1858 imparts the typical, characteristically robust, malty, full-flavored taste to our Mühlen Kölsch.

Medium body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is pale malts with cereals and toffee, as well as floral hops with light herbal notes. Quaffable and food friendly.

3.1 Bottle from summer eurosanta, thanks snowcrash000! This is little bit boring, well, kolsch. Grainy, malty and sweetish. Okay
2.6 Lasch, muffig, bisschen hefig, bisschen malzig
3.4 Tastes very grainy, a lot like a helles. But clean and good. Drank warm though. d&S Dresden
3.2 Thanks to Erzengel for this swap. Creamy white head stayed on a translucent, ultra pale golden, finely carbonating body. Faint aroma of malt, grain & corn. Medium, creamy on the tongue with a slight tickle on the back & cloying aft. Floral tasting with light malt, grass, biscuit & wheat followed by a pleasantly tangy citrus finish. Quaffing Beer - nice!
3.1 From tap @ Brauerei zur Malzmühle (visited 11.6.2019) in Cologne in Germany. F: big, creamy, long lasting. C: gold, clear. A: malty, bready, yeasty, bit like lager. T: malty, caramel, bready, bit fruity, nice refreshing when cold, light to medium body, lower carbonation, ok.
2.5 0,5 l bottle from Getränke Hoffmann, Deutz. Clear golden in the glass, little bit darker than expected. One finger white frothy head. Low sourish malty smell. Taste is smooth, some malt, some fruity elements, low bitterness, thin. Typical Kölsch out of Köln. Nothin´ less or more.
2.7 Tiefes gold, primär getreidig-grasige Noten, etwas Malz. Nur leichte Herbe im Abgang.

3.1 Bottle shared with some colleagues in the office. Aroma is malts and citrus. Pours a clear golden body with a tiny bit of haze and a small white head. Taste is malt based with citrus and subtle yeast. Very refreshing. Good choice for a summer day in the park.
2.7 Malzmühle, vom Fass. Brotig und. malzig, wenig Hopfenaroma, grüner Apfel. Schlank, leicht bitter, ertwas kratzig. ok
3.0 Visited the brewpub a few times before Ratebeer was invented, but never since. The rating is from the Bierbörse in Leverkusen on 10th Aug 2018. The brewery had a large area at the event and I made a bee line to it for my first beer of the day. Light golden body, bright, clean and clear, on top a fading white crown. Light malty aroma and taste, but like most Kölsch it's all a bit subtle in the nose and flavour. Refreshing and thirst quenching it is, robust and interesting it isn't. Anyway it was an ideal starter for the drinking session and I am glad to have finally rated one of my favourite Kölsch from the past.
3.8 Bottle. Golden clear appearance with a small head.Typical clean sharp flavour that you expect from this style. Refreshing traditional taste with no airs and graces. Just what I expected-and that is a compliment. Well worth trying.
3.3 Bottle from my Summer Secret EuroSanta. Malty aroma, grainy and light bready notes. Tastes the same as aroma, light to medium bitter. Light body, malty bitter finish. Easy to drink. Ok.
2.8 Helt vanlig øl. Ikke noe merkbart med den. Kanskje bedre bitterhet enn pils, men ikke så mye mer enn det... 5,6/10 180627
3.1 Bottle at home. Clear golden with white head. Sweet malts, wheat, green bean boilwater, butter. Moderate sweet and bitter. Light body and soft carbonation. Plain but refreshing.
3.5 Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Clear, green tinged gold. Nicely dense, lasting, white head, kept going by streams of fine bubbles. Nose has wheaty grain. Some soft toffee. Privet leaf. Taste is a little sweet, with a grassy bitterness. Clean mouthfeel. Lightly drying. Fine, foamy carbonation. Leafy bitterness to finish. Decent sweaty neck beer.
2.9 500ml bottle into glass. Bought from random kiosk in Freisenplatz, Cologne. Pours a clear amber with a solid white head. Only a few bubbles. Nose is sweet malt. Light body, fizzy mouthfeel. Grainy taste. Finish initially sweet then a touch sour before a lingering grainy finish with underlying sherbet. Like all Kolschs, it's easy-drinking.
3.0 Bottle at Beerdock Leek. Pours a clear golden colour with a medium white head. Aroma of pear, some apple, straw and subtle spicy hops. Taste of pear, straw, some soft bready malts, a hint of yeast, a touch metallic and subtle spicy, floral hops. Light bodied and moderate carbonation. A soft, dryish, fruity and spicy bitterness in the finish. A nice, pleasant Kölsch. Fruity flavours and a soft, malty texture.
3.5 Bue à la pression. Couleur paille bien claire et totalement limpide as Fuck. Mousse compacte et tenace. Nez un peu mielleux et doux. Douce au palais mais amertume assez présente en fin de bouche. Arômes sur les grains et un peu sur le miel. Sympa.
4.7 This beer tastes way better tapped than bottled. It's an issue that only freshly tapped it can release its full potential and provide a sufficient sensory image. It's very fresh, light in taste and brings a solid hop aroma.
3.3 L: -pours a clear light golden with a medium, foamy, white head -high carbonation visible S: -grainy,metallic,toasted grain, spicy T: -grain husk, toasted malt, herbs, spicy F: -medium carbonation -light to medium body O: This was a bit disappointing. It was missing the usual Kölsch yeast esters from other Kölsch Beers. Too grainy for my taste
2.9 La tomé de barril. Cerveza marrón oscuro. Espuma blanca compacta y duradera. Gusto ligeramente amargo tirando a las stouts. Me la esperaba más dulce. Cuerpo medio-alto. No es mi gusto aunque es una cerveza de un cierta calidad.
2.6 On tap in the brewpub. Pours clear light golden with nice white head. Aroma is fruity, somewhat floral with a bit of yeast and unpleasant cellar. Taste is bitter with spicy hops, malt, grass. Somewhat sour aftertaste.
2.6 On tap at Brauerei Zur Malzmühle, Cologne, 10.10.17. Clear gold with a white head. Slightly buttery, candy aroma. Buttery and sweet taste, slightly bitter. Light body, soft fizz, sweetish finish.
