Muskoka Legendary Muskoka Oddity

Muskoka Legendary Muskoka Oddity

Each year the tempered thaw of Muskoka winter gives rise to new and strange creations. Legends date back to the 1800’s when lumberjacks and fur traders took to the woods and encountered the mysterious culture and wildlife in the unknown Northern region. Today, we echo our ancestors’ quest and have unearthed this season’s most distinct offerings. The culmination of these ingredients rests in the LEGENDARY MUSKOKA ODDITY brew.

3.0 Bottle @ ZZT9 shared by Dutchdrebus. Hazy orange colour with a small off-white head. Smells sweet, banana, malty, alcohol and raisins. Tastes sweet, banana, alcohol and raisins. Mwah.
2.8 Bottle @ RBBSG III. Pours orange, white head that goes away quickly. Aroma is oranges, spices. Taste is more oranges, spicy and sweet. Don’t really like this.
3.3 If your brew comes in a box it better be damned serious. This beer is not serious enough. It’s good, but not in-a-special-box good. This yeasty beasty also smells of caramel and old toffee, some dankness indeed on this hazy, light amber and thin headed fiend. Quite boozy, floral honey-sweet and bubblegummy. A low fizziness and medium heavy body on this brew. I was hoping to taste more of the wacky ingredients they added but no dice.
3.2 Bottle from the Great White North. Cloudy yellow color. Aroma of light spice and flowers. Taste is spiced and floral.
3.5 Vintage 2013, labelled Legendary Muskoka Oddity. Golden color with a white head with good retention and medium lacework. Aroma has notes of some spices, alcohol and some fruity hints. Flavor is slightly fruit, good presence of alcohol, spiced hints and some bready notes. Alcoholic final with some sweetness in the aftertaste.
3.5 7/VII/14 - 75cl bottle leftover saved from RBBSG III with cap and in the fridge, since I couldn’t keep up with the tick fest @ home - BB: n/a, 2013 vintage (2014-784) Thanks to Travlr for sharing the bottle! Clear dark orange beer, small aery white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: spicy, orange peel, very spicy, bit sugary. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bits weet start, some orange peel, very spicy, bit oxidized, might be due to keeping though. Aftertaste: spicy, orange peel, bit sugary, sweet. Meh.
3.6 They should have never put this beer in a box. The box automatically over hypes the beer and gets your hopes up too much. Not that it is a bad beer, it just isn’t a standout in my mind. Pours a hazy peach colour with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma is of basement, wheat and honey. Taste is pretty complex with hints of banana, booze, honey, apple, and gum. Has a medium heavy body with low carbonation and a tingly feeling left in your mouth. Quite quaffy for how strong it is, but all those fun ingredients didn’t do too much for this brew.
2.3 Clear amber pour with a very quick head that leaves no lace at all...no, wait, there’s a few bubbles clinging to one edge of the glass. Nose has some bready yeast, spice and candied fruit. There’s a real kerosene note on the palate on top of some spice and faint fruit. There’s something very sharp in the finish and the alcohol warmth isn’t altogether pleasant. There’s almost a burn in the long finish. I’d pass on this a second time. Gah.
2.5 This beer is not for me. Has lots of wine/boozy fruit notes and stone fruit flavours. Tastes like it was aged in an oak barrel or something out of sync with the other flavours as well.
3.4 Bottle - Malty stone fruit. Hazy orange with a thin white head. Stone fruit, boozy sweetness and a long finish.
3.3 750 ml bottle. Vintage 2013, labelled Legendary Muskoka Oddity. Pours a bright amber with moderate head and lots of carbonation. Aromas of candied fruit, orange peel, and resin/esters. Similar sweet flavors with a buttery finish.
2.7 Bottle at RBSG 2014. Thx to everyone for sharing today’s bottles! APPEARANCE:clear blond beer, small unstable white head. NOSE: chemical, bad. TASTE: chemical, bad
3.0 Pours a hazy brilliant gold color with white ring. The smell is wort, citrus. The taste is fruit, sweet malt, caramel. The body is medium and sticky with mild carbonation.
3.4 Bottle @ RBBSG, 2014. Thanks travlr! Orange colour, white foam. Medium carbonation. Spicy with soft malty notes. Sweet, light hoppy aftertaste. Decent.
3.7 Vintage 2013 bottle bought at the LCBO in toronto/Canada. Jarred pears aroma no doubt! Amazing. Color is hazy orange golden. Taste is like a fruity Duvell. Very close to a standard Belgian ale or tripple. Overall a very very good beer!
2.4 750 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG III. Thanks to travlr! Cool label. Golden, white head. Doesn’t smell okay to me, lactic, this yeasty, sour, citrus, soap. Tastes of thick old chunky yeast, plaster, lactic, spoiled yoghurt, artificial citrus. Thick yeast, this doesn’t feel alright to me.
3.9 Corked bottle from Steamworks Liquor Store, Vancouver, as Muskoka Oddity vintage 2013, bb 30 Sept 2014 Hazy blond color with medium sized compact head. Belgian aroma, lightly spicy and fruity, some esters, very light soap. Dynamic mouthfeel, lean and with very moderate sweetness; nice malt flavor, with delicate fruit and spice presence, no dominating traits; correct bitterness. Has a few merits: clean, great balance, harmony and not showing too much the spices. Very nice.
3.8 Vintage 2013. Scent of yeast, malt, spice, and hops. Cloudy golden colour. Flavours of malt, yeast, gin, honey, and spices, with a slight sweetness on the front and a mild bitterness throughout. Medium in body and carbonation. Quite tasty; can’t wait till next year’s incarnation.
4.3 Pours a light amber, with a very thin, one finger white head. Aromas of citrus, banana and a slight mustiness underlying it all. Tastes of citrus, and a some bitterness on the swallow. If you know "the Belgium Taste" this one is spitting it out big time. Overall, this is a strange beer that seems like an ok beer, but somehow manages to convince you that it is a superior beer. And it is.
3.6 Bottle from the LCBO. slightly hazy pale orange with a small white head that lingers. Nose is yeast and spice with citrus notes as well as some apricot and caramel. Quite spicy with cloves dominant but not overpowering. Some light sweetness and moderate citrus bitterness. Medium sticky mouth with lively carbonation.
4.2 Wheat, spices and fruit in the nose. Taste is a refreshing, fruity Belgian ale, but not overpowered by Belgian yeast. A range of fruit tastes including citrus, citrus peel, tropical fruit and ripe berries are also nicely set off by a hint of toffee. Very tasty, thirst quenching and well blended.
3.4 Bottle @ ZZT9 shared by me. Hazy orange colour with a small sized off-white head. Smells wheat, sweet, alcohol and raisins. Tastes sweet, alcohol and raisins. Medium body, soft carbo. Slight dissappointment.
3.7 Bottled @ ZZT 9, small sample. Slight hazy golden color, short head. Flowery, spicy, cardamom, nutty. Slight bitter. Belgian spiced blonde beer. Quite nice.
3.3 Bottle @ ZZT 9 thanks to Dutchdrebus. Opaque yellow color, small white head. Can’t smell anything due to the hayfever goddamn. Taste malts, a bit yeasty, some hops, a bit bitter. Don’t know why, maybe because I can’t get the aroma good enough due to the hayfever, but I’m not too impressed. Medium body and carbonation.
3.5 Pours a golden slightly unclear beer with a good white head. Smells sweet herbs, brown sugar. Tastes sweet, bit caramel. Average carbo, medium body and a sticky texture.
