3.3 Pine, medium bitterness, golden body. Malts back up the hop profile. Mad Tom is a workhorse IPA. Picked up a 473 ml tall boy at 1000 Islands Bridge Duty Free Shop.
3.9 It is really a wonderful IPA - shame given that I tried it as the style is exploding with so many different nuances and hops because this one feels like it would have been really impressive a decade ago. It is really great - don't get me wrong - but it doesn't taste remarkable or outside of the box in today's beer world. I'd order it again in the Muskokas.
3.4 Thanks to Derek for this one. Pours a hazy dark golden with an average white head. Heavy grass comes out of the aroma, along with mango, pine, caramel, and grapefruit. The taste is moderately bitter. Mild herbal and sugar flavors is present throughout the sip. There is pine, grapefruit, and mango, and lesser honey and resin. Light herbal aftertaste. Medium in body and a little sticky in texture. This is a good, no frills IPA. Its pretty solid in most every aspect, but nothing is too exciting.
4.1 Excellent beer brewed in cottage country. Lots of body and flavour a favourite.
3.1 Toronto 12/7 2018. 47,3 cl can from a very depressing shopping experience in The Beer Store. They seriously need to loosen up. Guy with a bowler hat looking mad and slightly nervous while carrying a barrel (of beer I assume). Pours slightly hazy golden yellow with medium-sized white head. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of frothy foam climbing up the side of the glass. Aroma is not particularly strong. Stuffy refrigerator, caramel, with citric notes of Grape fruit. Low carbonation. Slightly thick, velvet Soft, creamy texture. A little flat. Flavor has a fairly strong sweetness for this style of beer. Followed by a rather light bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet caramel with a light touch of bitterness. Lingering. This is a fine and well tasting beer. But a tad too sweet to fit the Bill for a IPA.
3.4 Aroma: citrus and herbal notes, caramel, malty. Appearance: hazy amber color and white head. Taste: medium herbal bitterness, malty, caramel, melanoidins. Palate: medium body and medium carbonation/ Overall: decent classical IPA.
3.4 bottled - nice orangey color. Sweet hoppy aroma and flavor with a slightly bitter finish. Pretty good.
4.8 Hands down my favorite beer. Can't say enough good things. The beer has an amazing taste immediately with and enough better aftertaste.
3.0 Slightly cloudy orange/amber. Aroma malt and generic hops. Medium body. Light carbonation. Off dry. Some slight citrus, some caramel. Not bad, maybe a little too much malty sweetness.
3.6 Was on holiday with my girlfriend in Ottawa when we stopped into a busy pub for lunch. I saw the tap and decided to give this a try. The aroma was pleasant with notes of hay. It had a gorgeous colour and poured to an attractive but not overpowering head. The first sip blew me away with its slightly sweet malty palate which was then overtaken by a nice but not over aggressive hop bite. Overall, this is a nice session IPA that l have bought plenty if since this trip.
3.3 16 ounce can gifted to me. Drank at home One inch white head with film on glass. Smell the hops. Orange, hazy in looks. Taste the pine and citrus. Very hopped beer. Hops on the palate. Somewhat bitter after bite. Strong taste. Overall above average for the style. Cheers!
4.0 Striking aroma, this one was recommended to me by two volleyball friends. A good one.
2.8 Having trouble seeing the hype here! Everyone said it was their best and I found it their least attractive. Hops were just overbearing.
2.9 Pint at Toronto airport: as soon as I saw this, I wanted to try it, imagining a hop forward, juicy fruit, caramel bedrock, citrus rind slap in the face taste explosion with ganja, tomato vine, cat pee and sports shoe left in schoolbag over the summer undertones.. I mean, it’s called MAD TOM for God’s sake! Well Mad Tom’s medication appears to have kicked in. Disappointingly dull muted caramel flavoured beer. Shouldn’t really claim to be an IPA IMHO.
3.5 Pour out of 16 oz can, clear orange-red pour with white head, aroma brought notes of grapefruit, pine, spice, slight lemon into some bread. Taste was grapefruit heavy, some pine, grass, spice, hints of yeast, slight bread, finishing fairly bitter, slightly dry.
3.2 16-ounce can from LCBO in Toronto pours slightly hazy orange-gold with small off-white head and lacing. Aroma: super sweet-smelling with honey, toffee. Flavor: brown sugar, caramel, sweet pine. Mouthfeel: medium- to full-bodied. Tasty, yet too sweet, even for a West Coast-style IPA. An IPA should be more hop-forward.
4.2 Great beer, a little pricey for a some what local beer!cereal, roasty, floral, dough, golden, hazy, white foam, medium bitterness, medium sourness, light sweetness, full body, thick feel, soft carbonation, long finish,
3.4 Had a nice bite of hoppy flavour that I like in IPAs. Slightly Carmel and I would buy this again.
3.5 Had this with Marc from the tall boy can. Hoppy nose and good citrus hoppy flavor. Well balanced with 6.2% alcohol. Muskoka brewery is in Bracebridge. F Avey
3.4 Bottle at Mondial de la biere 2017, Montreal. Small head, golden/amber colour, hazy. Aroma: citrus, grapefruit peel, pine, spruce. Bitter taste, medium body, long finish, lively. Alright, could have been more bitter.
3.9 Bottle from Community Beverages. Amber pour with small, creamy head. Dry malty aroma, hint of leather. Taste is dry and dusty, malty, toffee, some nuttiness. Sharp bitter bite is a fine razor cut at the finish. Still dry at the finish. Very English, and tasty too.
3.5 I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours copper with an off-white head. The aroma is citrus, earthy hops, and some caramel. The taste is earthy and bitter hops with grapefruit and some caramel. It’s subtle and nicely balanced with nice carbonation. This stood out and was a good beer.
(Rating #7607)
2.9 More bite than I require. Resinous, chewy, and powerful. Nose is citrus and malt. Taste of citrus and malt. A required taste for a rich and resinous beer.
3.4 341ml bottle, best before 2017-05-11. Pour golden, lightly hazy with a white foam that reduce as a thick cloud. Aroma is resinous and tropical fruit. Taste is malty and bitter. No green hops. High body and medium carbonation. Bitter, oily and slick. Long malty and bitter finish.
3.9 Bottle. Pours a orange liquid witha head head. Nose is resin, citrus, and caramel malt. Taste like a good IPA with a well balanced hop, citrusy, malt and resin bitterness. Well done!
3.7 473 ml bottle. Clear golden orange colour, dense off-white head. The aroma is fruity, with grapefruit and orange, sweetish malt and resiny hops. The flavour is caramel-malty, with grapefruits and notes of caramel, and a lingering bitter resiny finish. Tasty.
3.7 Overall, great taste! The malt tastes as a bread and and in my opinion there is a kinda mix of citrus and resin hops. Great gold appearance.
3.2 Pours copper with a thin yellowish head. Aroma is grapefruit. Taste is bitter with notes of soapy grapefruit, smoke, and a touch of malty sweetness. Grassy, spicy hops follow. Medium bodied and medium carbonation. A bit too much hops for my taste.
