3.6 Etched glass bottle - pours dark brown tan head - nose and taste of chocolate, roast and cranberry with some vanilla - medium body
3.7 Bottle at CWC III; hazy dark amber pour with a light tan head, aroma has chocolate and some meaty malt action, taste has tart red fruits, chocolate, fairly big roast.
3.9 Tried at the cotteridge bottle share 2017. Brown/black colour with a tan head. Aroma has the chocolate and fruit (well cranberries i guess). taste roasted bitter and light fruity. Rich body.
3.7 Bottle at Cotteridge Convention III 2017. Dark brown beer lasting tan head. Some sponge cake. Chocolate good fruit. I liked it. Soft chocolate and fruit. Yes decent.
3.1 Bottle, LCBO. Bottled Sept 2016. Brown with small beige head. Aroma’s delicate, sourish of the cranberries, pretty low on sweetness considering all the sweet adjuncts. Tastes sourish sweet... Cocoa and cranberry bitterness in finish. Carbonation very modest, mouthfeel too thin, which kinda makes the booze shine through as it’s warmed. A disappointment.
3.9 Mørk brun klar med høyt beige skum. Lukter mørk sjokolade, vanilje, kandis og noe kakao. Middels + i fylde. Lett bitterhet, kaffe, mørk sjokolade, noe brent karamell og noe salt lakris. Middels lang
3.8 Smells faintly of chocolate. No cranberry to be found. Slight bitter smell. Pours a very dark brown. Head disappears into mild lacing. Taste is very balanced, with a slight chocolate note. Would never know this is a 8% ABV beer. Medium carbonation, with no aftertaste. Overall it is by far one of my favorite stouts. Not as heavy as some, and a lot easier drinking. Will buy again and cellar for 2 years. See you then! MB The Beer "Bear"on
3.4 Pours black with light brown head. A faint aroma of chocolate and roasted malts. A strong chocolate taste that turns tart with cranberry, as well as some roasted malts. A dry malt and light tart aftertaste.
3.6 Pours a dark brown. Dark chocolate aroma and in the taste as well. Cranberries only come in towards the end but they are nice. Overall Good but not worth the price
0.8 This beer is like all Muskoka beers, flavourless. It you’re looking to get an 8% beer for $14 but don’t like the taste of beer.. This is for you. I don’t know how these guys make such flavourless beer, honestly. I thought all of their regular cans were bland, but maybe they showed their talent for a more expensive bottle... Wrong. It doesn’t taste like chocolate or cranberries at all, it’s boring as hell. Go with a better local like Flying Monkey’s or Forked River, because their beer has aroma and flavour. This beer sucks.
3.7 Opaque dark brown color, faint frothy 3 finger beige head that last around 5-10 minutes, with a good amount of lacing. Flavors of dark chocolate, cranberries and dark fruits, with some coffee and molasses, and faint red ale spices. Earthy and herbal. Smooth medium body with moderate carbonation. Strong finish of sugary earthy chocolate, and sharp bitter coffee. Does not feel fresh with lots of alcohol and very spicy. Still overall good quality stuff. Not very accessible, yet for an imperial stout, it’s quite soft. The flavors are very tasty, quite filling, and warming.
3.2 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a small brown head. Notes of berries, chocolate, malt, caramel, light fudge.
3.8 Had a pint at Sir John A in Ottawa Has a creamy brown coppery head, very small. Extremely dark appearance, almost completely black. Thick dirty lacing. Faint aromas of chocolate and malts, not much else to me. Flavours are abundant: chocolate and roasted malts dominate. The cranberry is coming through just slightly but noticeable enough. Mocha, toffee and nutmeg round it out. Coffee taste as well. Tasty and has a thickness in the mouthfeel. A hint of alcohol is apparent. Really good brew on a cold winter day.

3.4 Bottle 750ml. Pours black with high creamy beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, chocolate. Taste is of roasted malt, fruits, chocolate. Palate: Full bodied. Soft-medium carbonation. Overall: Ok.
4.6 Pour ruby black with big crema head. Aroma is of chocolate, cranberry, toffee, and roasted malts. Tastes of dark chocolate, cranberry, toffee, and brown sugar. Has a heavy dry body with low carbonation and a bitter cranberry aftertaste. I would love to grow one of these beards for the Winter.
3.5 Pours a good black with a beige cap that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of grapes and chocolate. Taste is of chocolate, roasted malt and is moderately sweet. Body is medium-full, carbonation moderate and mouthfeel is smooth. Pretty cool.
3.0 Bottle (750 ml) shared at tasting. Slightly hazy amber-brown with a small ring of beige foam leaving little lacing. Aroma is of cranberries, dark chocolate, roasted notes, caramel, dark fruits and a bit of alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet with cranberries, dark chocolate, caramel, roasty notes, medicinal notes and mineral presence. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Cranberries and roasted malt finish. Not so easy drinking.
3.0 Bottle shared. Deep red almost black pour with frothy tan head. Aroma is fruity, roasty, light raisin, light cocoa. Taste is lightly sour, roasty, fruity, super medicinal finish. Palate is med bodied with good carbonation.
3.7 On tap at the Old Toad. Pours black with tan head that disappears and leaves very little trace. Aroma is berries, licorice, chocolate and roasted. Flavor is light to medium bitter, light to medium sweet, chocolate and roasted. Nice malty and oily. .
3.3 Dark black unfiltered stout. Thick brown foam head that dissipates quickly. Dark bittersweet chocolate aroma some faint berry fruit notes. Fairly dry and simple flavour chocolate and malt. Alittle yeasty and spiriteous. Pleasing enduring aftertaste.
4.0 Drinking a bottle I got Christmas 2014. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and faint sour notes, that I can’t quite peg as cranberry. Taste is much the same, sweetness upfront, with a chocolaty body with vanilla and sour undertones, fading to a more distinctly cranberry backend, and a bitter chocolate aftertaste. Body is smooth and had some weight to it, but lighter than many of this style. From what I remember from other tastings of fresh bottles, a year of aging has softened the cranberry notes, and made this much more balanced. I liked this much more than I have in the past.
4.1 Pours is dark black with a medium beige head. Nose of coffee, chocolate and a bit of dark fruit (probably cranberry) and caramel. Medium sweetness creamy mouthfeel, small to medium bitterness at the end. A bit of alcool coming throught but not too much. So well balanced. Very good!!!!
3.6 Courtesy of Tim Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, light roast, vanilla, and a touch of cranberry. It pours a dark brown with some orange highlights and a small beige head that fades to a minimal film outlined by a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate and a touch of caramel. The finish has mild roast, vanilla, and a hint of cranberry. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation.
