3.9 330ml Bottle from Beersniffers Webshop, Saltburn by the Sea, Cleveland (2021) and 750ml Bottle from Binns, Darlington (2004). Hazy, very dark brown with a massive rocky head of white foam. It has an unusual medicinal cherry flavour with dried fruit, burnt toffee and spices on the smooth finish. Very good.
3.8 330ml bottle from Trembling Madness. Nutty brown with a fizzy white head. Candied caramel aroma, flavour has caramel with hints of Christmas cake and a slightly spicy finish
4.0 Copper, white head. Malt, caramel, citrus. Taste of marmalade, banana, white pepper and banana split.
3.7 Buli van aprajafalván! A cicunak máj, a cicunak háj meg hasonló örökbecsűk.
4.0 Sweet big mouth feel
3.8 Aroma of caramel, dried fruits, malt and hints of spices and yeast. Dark brown with a tan head. Medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter. Medium to full body with average carbonation. Overall a nice, well balanced and warming Strong Dark Belgian Ale.
3.4 Dark brown colour. Taste and aroma of malt, caramel, dried fruit, some citrus. A bit spicy.
3.6 Smell-weak, malt-ish, hard to tell. Foam-thin, Belgian yeast, weak caramel, weak sweetness. Head is medium-sized, medium-dark brown color. Goes away fast. Appearance- beer-specific bottle cap? the label is somewhat nice also. I will assume so, so rounding up to max score. Clear, dark ruby color, no carbonatiion. From- snifter Price- 2,49 euros for 330ml Taste- thin, malty, Belgian yeast, caramel, some sweetness. Generally sweet, malty and Belgian-y beer. Very drinkable. alcohol semi-well hidden also.
4.0 Dark brown pour, finger of mocha head. Nose is roasted malt and dried fruit. Middle is toffee, dark kilned malt, currants, some candi sugar, light herbal property, touch of citrus. Finish is malty & spicy, with cherries rolling in the background.
3.4 Hazy brown with a moderate beige head. Aroma: Malt - milk chocolade, cocoa, honey. A notable touch of fruity esters. Mouth: Mostly sweet, fruity. Bitterness (roasted) is moderate. Some alcohol. Medium body.
3.7 Plum aroma, full bodied dark Belgian with orange and herb flavors. Has a nice kick to it. Bottle of 2020 N’ice Chouffe had been lurking in the beer fridge long enough.
4.5 Dark ruby/brown in colour. Sweet aroma, very spiced with hints of dried fruits, nuts and liquor. Taste is a mild sweet taste with warm winter spices, nutty flavors, caramel with a mix of berries and raisins. silky texture with a slight bitterness. Complex and warming. Just lovely :)
Aroma afrutado, a malta y caramelo.
3.4 Bottle in Serbia. Coffee bean color going black, ivory frothy foam. Nose: dark chocolate and orange peel, cherries under spirit, alcohol. Mouth: strong alcohol taste a bit over the top, orange even a bit tart and bitter, herbal.
3.8 Slight orange aroma and flavor. I am not getting any thyme aroma or flavor.
Schiuma persistente a grano grossa, cremosa. Colore bruno deciso. Forte sentore di liquirizia. Un po' dolce. fPr
3.4 Dark ruby colour with a thick tan head. Sweet aroma, very spiced with hints of dried fruits, nuts and liquor. Mild sweet taste with an accented nutty flavor with a mix of berries and raisins. Medium body, bitter aftertaste, silky texture. Complex and warming.
4.3 Santa's elf. Dark brown color with ruby reflections, reminescent of a monk's frock color, with a huge and long-lasting hazelnut colored head. The aroma is intense and characterized by scents of ripe dark fruits (figues, plums), sour cherries, brown caramel, spices (cloves and pepper) and vagues hints of licorice and even vanilla. The taste is very pleasant, generally but not overly sweet, with a well balanced and amalgamated mix of flavors like caramel, dark chocolate, sour cherry liqueur, plums and cloves, with a sligthly bitter and spicy finish reminescent of licorice and pepper. The body is full and rather creamy, with a medium-low level of carbonation and minimally perceptible alcohol, dangerously hidden to come out only at the end of the drink. I could tell that this beer has exceeded my expectations, as I found it full of interesting aromas and flavors, as well as adequately balanced, obviously all with respect to my personal taste.
3.3 On tap at Dive 106. Pours dark red brown. Chocolate, herbal, thyme, gravy, biscuit. Medium body. Bit odd honestly.
4.2 Aroma contains dark (ripe) fruit, licorice, and spice. Look has a dark ruby-brown body, clear with active carbonation feeding the thick, off-white to tan head. The head recedes quite slowly, dropping by pock-marks and valleys in the surface. Taste starts with the malty dark fruits, fig, raisins, plum - especially plum, a bit sweet, with licorice, brown sugar, and spice. There is a mild bittering starting in the middle and carrying though to the finish. The interplay among the fruits, sugar, and spice is quite nice. The finish is somewhat sweet, but well short of turning this into a sipping beer (although the delightful flavors will encourage you to savor rather than gulp). There is no alcohol apparent in the flavor or the feel. The feel is smooth, albeit a tingly smooth, with a bit of a coating on the tongue. Overall, excellent, and as is true for many Belgian strong ales / quads, far too much of an easy drinker for the ABV (this is not a criticism; just a warning!)
3.9 8-4-7-5-15 Bottle, L21003, 20 months before bbd. Pours dark translucent brown, with a big creamy beige head receding to finger thickness. Aroma is spicy yeasty notes with cloves and herbal notes as well as malts with bread, kandi, toffee and heathery minerals. Full, creamy body, with very soft carbonation. Flavour is malty notes of bread, kandi sugar, and toffee, as well as heather, earthy spices and herbal notes. Very mellow and thoroughly enjoyable.
4.2 Initial bubblegum aroma. A hoppy and plum taste. Nice warming effect and not as strong as the ABV suggests
3.8 0.33 bottle bought at Mega maxi supermarket, Niš. Deep amber colour with thick tanned head, aroma is really christmassy, cloves, orange, spicy, taste is perfectly balanced , cloves , orange peel, spicy. Great mouthfeel.
3.5 Complex malty aroma with ethereal notes and spice. Dark copper color, transparent beer with foam at the edges of the glass. On the palate with malt and esters, aftertaste with a little alcohol. Medium body, low carbonation.
