3.0Brown with tan head. Smoke, caramel, raspberry, herbal, slick, metallic, wood and noble hop.
1.7Uff, that one was... special, that’s for sure. Pours a hazy brown color, topped with a medium sized small foamy head, off-white. Intense smokey aroma, wood, bacon - all together strong and just too much. Taste is similar. Strong herbal bitterness, juniper presence easily felt and I’m no expetr. Smoke and bacon again, going into the aftertaste. Light body, but just not for me. Terrible
3.450 cl bottle. Clear brown, small beige head. Aroma is smoke, charcuterie, sausage, berries, small hints of sweet bread. Taste follows basically, alcohol and wood note in the finish. Medium body, low carbo, sticky texture.
3.7A: Deep brown with some red notes and a huge off white head. N: Heavy smoke on the nose, a bit metallic and a nice wooden tone. Hint of plum as well. T: heavy smoke flavour with some tart berry flavour. Single malt flavour. O: Nice!
3.0500 ml bottle bb 05/16 from my EU Local Swap 1/2016 sender omhper, thanks!
Dark copper body, with a medium, fluffy, lacing, light beige head.
Aroma of dominant peat, wood, some spices, some caramel.
Tastes also of dominant peat, smoked wood, spices, caramel, some dark fruits.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes smokey, wooden, dry, a bit sweet, a bit fruity.
OK, but not my cup of tea, as I don’t like peat. The nose is almost only peat, taste is a bit more varied, with some dark malts and fruit notes. If you like peat dominated beers, this is perfect, but I’m not one of those people.
2.90,5l bottle at home shared by Saeglopur, big thanks. ABV according to bottle 6.5%. BB 05/2016. dark brown color, small off-white / yellowish head. smells smoked, quite a lot of peat, leathery, light spices. decent smell, peat too dominating. medium to full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of ... peat, peat, peat, bit leathery, some spices, light smokey, hints of fruits. finishes lightly dry with quite a lot of peat and some leathery notes.
I can do a bit of peat, but just peat and not much else is not my thing. just OK.
3.550 cl från systembolaget. Fick denna i födelsedagspresent. Riktigt mycket smak av Laiphriog
2.2Bottle @ RBWG 2016. Thanks, Viktor. Not sure why I even bothered trying this...well, I know why, it’s just not a very good reason. Amber beer with some khaki foam. Pretty much what I expected here. A lot of smoke, plastic, rubber, and soap. Holy smokes. Big time herbal quality to go along with it. Some grass, baked apple, peat, and moss. Very strong smoke to the flavor. Perfumey, too. Not a fan.
3.5Bottle shared by one of the Swedes, presumably, at the RB Best Awards - thanks again, Viktor or Christer! Pours an amber color with a small off-white head that settles into a ring and leaves ropes of lace in the glass. A little rubbery atop notes of smoke, caramel, peat, oak, juniper, and earth. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a peaty, sweet mouthfeel that finishes dry. Good peaty smoked ale.
3.1Bottle at RBWG. It pours an amber color with a tan head. The aroma is smoky with some peat and a little ham. Plastic notes. The flavor has peat smoke, plastic and some herbals near the finish. Very strong flavors. Weird stuff and kinda harsh on the palate.
3.5Bottle shared. Clear copper pour with thin white head. Aroma is super smoky, peaty, intense peat, light herbal notes. Taste is malty, intensely peaty smoky flavor. Med-full bodied with good carbonation. Good but intense.
2.9Bottle. Pours a clear brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is hairspray and smoke. Thin mouth, strong smoke, ash, boozy.
3.5Borefts 2015, Day two. Tap. Peaty, rokerig en gronderig. Backlog from 2015/09/26.
2.6Halvmörk med en tydlig rökig doft. Chark och rök i smak. För överväldigande smak, fastnar nästan i halsen. Rököl är inte min stil men vissa funkar, dock inte denna
3.6500ml bottle from Systembolaget, Örebro. Smokey tar whiskey aroma with sweet caramel notes and leather and tar. Smooth silky mouthfeel. Some sweet notes from malt and caramel behind that big smokey sausage, whiskey and tar taste, juniper and mild resin.
3.7bottle @ home. Pours an alomost clear reddish to brown liquid with a long lasting frothy and tan head and thin lacing. Aroma is dry, with "sweet" smoke, tar, juniper, charcuteries, background bread, herbs and maltiness. Medium bodied, medium sweet with good duration and drier finish. Juniper is evident on medium to high level thoughout the taste. Also tar, firewood, charcuteries, bread. Finish has some nuttiness, spices & ham. Balanced bitterness. Becomes more tar-like and almost tart from the smokiness the more you drink.
3.7Lätt dimmig, röd-brun-orange, snyggt djup orange skum. Doft: Rökt skinka, grillning i skogen, ved, gammal jordkällare. Stark 7:a. Smak: Som doft + lite terva lejona.
3.4Flaska systembolaget. Mörkt bärnstensfärgad. Rökig doft med charkuterier och enbär.
Samma i smak. Lätt beska
2.4Fra kran på Haand Ølfestival 29 Mai 15. Ultramørk amber. Lavt skum. Aroma av litt sur røyk & lær. Smaken er som et skotøymagasin etter brann. Her ble det for mye røyk.
3.9Van de tap op borefts 2015. Robijnrood met een fijne creme schuim laagje. Geur is rook to the max, steenkolen, bello in een glas. De smaak blijft wat achter caramel en rook in tweede instantie. Met wat drop in de afdronk.
3.7On tap @ Borefts 2015, De Molen Bodegraven - NL. Color: dark brown beer with no carbonation and small white foam. Smell: peat and smoked malt domination. Taste: nice peat and smoked taste. Good medium body with nice attenuation. Quiet drinkable. Aftertaste: peat and small alcohol taste.
3.7Keg at borefts. Pours deep amber, nose is smoky, meaty, peat, taste is dry, light medicinal, sweet, wood.
3.8Tap at Borefts. Slight hazy amber with off white head. Lots of peat, ham, smoke, ash, charcoal, sweet caramel. Mainly just a very complex smokyness with some underlying sweet malts. Campfire in your mouth. Medium bodied with sticky feel.
3.4Smokey, like a laphroigh wiskey including sulphite aroma and jodium. Ruby/brown coloir with a little white head. Flavour still has a lot of jodium flavour but nicely balanced with malty flavours. Good carby appearence in the dry hoppy aftertaste. Good beer!
3.8On tap, 1dl tasting glass @ Borefts 2015, Bodegraven. Body is opalescent brown, head is small, beige, creamy, average lasting, good lacing. Nose is smoked cheese, flavor is smoked wood, smoked cheese, leaves, herbs, spices. Light sweet, heavy roasty bitter. Finish is long lasting smoky roasty woody medium bitter. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Quite easy, tasty smoked beer.
3.30,2l on tap @ SOPP2015 HKI. Pours hazy deep amber with a low tan head. Aroma is malts with loads of whisky, smoke and peat. Flavor is malts, whisky, smoke, peat, alcohol and hops. Far from balanced but quite nice.
3.7Reddish brown colour, not much head on top. Aroma has lots of smoke. Oak maybe, and more smoke. Taste continues with the same pattern, oak wood, smoke and some malts. Medium body and medium to low carbonation. Nice smoked beer.
3.90.2 l draught @ Suuret oluet pienet panimot festival, Helsinki. Dark amber colour. Well, this is smoked all the way. A bit different taste to that of the Bamberg rauchbiers. Still heavily smoked. Wet wood in open fire etc. Quite nice, well done.
3.7Draught @ SOPP 2015, Helsinki
Pours reddish brown with a smooth head. Aroma of leather, smoky wood, ham, toffee and syrup. Taste is smooth, sweetish and woody with loads of leather, ham, toffee, smoke and caramel. Finish is smoky, woody and leathery with loads of ham and toffee. Quite a smoky leather overdose.
3.6On tap at Haandbryggeriet Beer Festival. Deep chesnut coloured with off-white head. Smoky aroma eith lots of bonfire, hints of wood, bacon and some earthy notes. Medium sweet with wooden and smoky notes, mild carsm er l and a light bitterness. Tasty smoked beer, but slightly one dimensional.
