Nebraska EOS Hefeweizen

Nebraska EOS Hefeweizen

This medium to full-bodied beer, pale to golden in color, is most accurately described as a Bavarian wheat beer. The aroma and flavor of this unfiltered beer is decidedly fruity and spicy evoking tastes and aromas of cloves, nutmeg or sometimes vanilla with banana-like esters. Somewhat sweeter in style with a barely noticeable tartness. An award winning Hefeweizen from the heartland.

4.0 Pours a cloudy gold with a good-sized eggshell head that leaves some spotty lace. Nose of typically hefe yeast character, spice and dough. Fairly sweet, somewhat bitter. Medium bodied, softer carb, slick, with a dusty spicy doughy yeast finish. Good American take on the style, pretty well played.
3.9 12 ounce can into weizen glass, canned on 2/3/2017. Pours hazy pale golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big lemon, orange, banana, bubblegum, pear, apple, pepper, clove, nutmeg, coriander, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, orange, banana, bubblegum, pear, apple, pepper, clove, nutmeg, coriander, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/grassy bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange, banana, bubblegum, pear, apple, pepper, clove, nutmeg, coriander, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness and carbonation, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, and fairly creamy/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a very nice hefeweizen. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink. Well rounded yeast complexity and balanced malts; with just enough hop presence to round it out. Slightly on the thin side; but still very flavorful for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
3.6 Pours a hazed golden with a white head. Spiced clove and light banana aroma. light bodied with a moderate clove spice character and light banana notes. Notes: on tap at the brewpub, June ’17
2.6 Light Hefe with slight hints of spice and even lighter fruits. Some body but thins on the palate.
4.1 From the taps, a slightly hazy golden pour with a pretty porcelain head. Aroma delivers strong wheaty, lemon and malty tones, a little sweet and really tempting on a day that’s hot. Lip-smacking wheaty flavor offers rich wheat, malt and citrus tones plus more than a hint of yeast. Mouthfeel features firm, smooth body but lively, sassy fizz. A great hefe for heifers - and other bovines, and humans alike.
4.1 A divine appointment to the hefeweizen style, Nebraska’s EOS is impeccable. Full bodied with a soft pillowy mouthfeel, it delivers both fruity banana notes and mild clove. Very quenching. Pours very hazy maize, but little head, which might be It’s only flaw.
3.4 5.2%ABV. Hefeweizen. Poured out cloudy gold. 6 SRM. Nose is pronounced bubblegum with hint of sweet cloves. Mouthfeel is beery and carbonated. Palate has good solid pale malt giving it a clean lager-like palate. Finish is beery.
2.6 12 oz, can pours a hazy light golden color with a few white bubbles, but basically no head. (I then looked at the bottom of the can to find "canned 06/16/16" stamped there). Aroma is of wheat, lemon, and banana. Taste is sour. Body is light to medium with very lively carbonation. A real disappointment, but I should have checked the date first.
2.8 Can, beerfox, lv. Golden yellow hefehazy. Yeasty doughy node, floury, dusty dirty feeling. Yellow fruits, raw banana. Med bldied, malty, wheaty, doughy. This light be a little old. Feels doughy dusty. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.3 Pale, hazy, thick white head. Nose of light citrus and lots of yeast. Some banana. Taste is refreshingly sparkling yeasty to spicy. Good yeasty finish... Decent...
3.7 Can. Very refreshing, sparkly, clove banana mix. Nicely balanced and good.
3.1 Can. Pours a hazy yellow golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity wheat malty spicy banana aroma. Fruity wheat malty spicy banana flavor. Has a fruity wheat malty spicy banana finish.
3.7 Updated: tried it @ the source and I’m not getting any ginger this time. Probably misidentified the clove? Solid beer though. Tap @ Taco Mac Chattanooga- pours hazy yellow, disappearing white head. I’m getting bananas on the nose and a lemony ginger thing. Interesting.
3.6 Draft at Taco Mac Chattanooga. Pours light yellow with a white head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Nice banana notes on the nose. More of the clove element comes out on the tongue. Nice example of style.
4.0 B-. From a can. A cloudy yellow color with white head. Kinda bland flavor wise
3.9 Aroma is wheat, bananas, mild sugar and a hint of earthiness. The flavor is bananas, wheat and a mix of mild/medium sweetness and slight tartness in the finish.
3.3 12 ounce can. Sweet aroma with a thin white head. Somewhat cloudy in appearance with a dark straw in color. Taste is above average with it being sweeter, banana. Smooth, not overly carbonated Overall this a really nice beer for the style!
3.4 Can:   Dirty golden, orange hue, hazy, thin sudsy white head, little lacing.   Wheaty nose, faint clove.   Wheaty start, light sweetness, a little banana and clove.   Slightly German like, but not as heavy or assertive.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Clean finish, spices drop off quickly leaving a soft sweet wheaty aftertaste.   Good example, a bit light, but clean.
3.1 12oz can at home. No BB date. yellow hazy color, small white head. smells belgian yeasty, spices, light buttery, light sweetness. ok smell. medium to full body, quite light carbonation, light mouthfeel. tastes of belgian yeast, spices, lightly leathery, hints of peach. finishes lightly and and lightly belgian yeasty with some spices and peachy notes. okish beer, more like a belgian ale then a hefeweizen.
3.4 12 oz. can pours a translucent golden pear color with a thin ring of foam. Nose is rusty apple, caramel, cracker, mild clove. Tastes of oxidized apple and pear, cracker, caramel, clove and a finish of banana. Light-medium body has medium carbonation and a decent balance.
3.2 Can. It pours mostly clear light golden with a medium fizzy white head. The aroma has strong wheat, light lemony hops, hints of vanilla and spice. No banana or clove. The flavor is the same. Wheat forward with light notes of apple and vanilla. Soft wheat character. Pretty watery on the palate. Overall pretty bland, but refreshing enough I guess.
3.0 Can pour into tulip glass from Manchester Wine & Liquors. Aroma is yeast, wheat and mild fruit/banana and clove. Appearance is cloudy light yellow with sediment particles in suspension and at the bottom of the glass, nice sparkle, massive 4 finger-width off-white head with poor retention, no lacing. Taste is wheat and mild fruit/banana, yeast, mild bubblegum. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin, frothy texture, fizzy carbonation (dominant feature of palate) and mildly sweet, fruity finish. Overall, wondering if this might have been a bit old (but no born on or best buy date) as aroma was not banana and head and carbonation level seem out of character. That said, certainly had all the features of a hefeweizen but not to award-winning level.
3.1 Can at home. Aroma is wheat, banana, spicy yeast, touch of clove. Flavour is light to moderate sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. Pretty smooth Hefeweizen, not bad at all.
3.4 On draft at Wooden Legs Brewing Co in Brookings SD it is a clear pale gold with a slight head. The aroma is banana and the taste is a strong banana flavor with a bitter finish.
3.5 On draft at Wooden Legs Brewing Co in Brookings SD. Pours a clear pale straw with a white head. Feint banana nose. Flavors of banana and lemon. Crisp finish.
4.0 4oz taster @ VCBW 2016- Day 2. Super bright entry. Fully rounded all the way from start to finish. Clean wheat malt, no roughness. Flavours of peach, banana, pineapple. Custard-like finish. lvl-2-sweetness. This one blew me away, I’ve never had a Hefe this clean, full, bright, and fruity. Superb.
2.9 On tap at VCBW Festival 2016, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of clove and restrained bananas, with a touch of citrus. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of clove, mild banana and citrus finish. Standard hef. Drinkable enough but nothing special.
3.3 Can. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are rich banana, wheat malt, yeast, fruits and hops. Sweet finish.
2.5 Single can with no date code into a pilsner glass. Admittedly purchased only for the Nebraska state tick as I dislike wheat beers. A: Rough pour yields almost no head which was gone in a minute. Thick yellow appearance you cannot see through.. S: Smooth sweet earthy scent with the slightest hint of banana. T: Grainy tart flavor with thankfully no noticeable sweetness. Pear? Sort of saison-esque. M: Thick body with low carbonation and tartness lingering on the finish. O: Another wheat beer... Points off for no dating.
3.5 The beer pours a clear golden color with a persistent white head. The aroma blends banana and wheat, and the flavor is mildly sweet with stromy banana notes. It is a bit one dimensional though. The carbonation isn’t as high as I like in this style, but it has a nice full mouth feel.
