Nebraska Hop God

Nebraska Hop God

(Previously known as HopAnomally)

A beautiful golden crossbreed of a Belgian Tripel and a West Coast IPA. Combining the best attributes of each style in a remarkable way, this beer explodes with spiciness, tropical fruit, and an intense citrus bitterness that will leave you begging for more! Hopped with Warrior, Chinook, Centential, and Cascade hops.

4.0 Wow... This is an impressive brewery. Another winner. Pours a clear golden. Dank hop aromas, a touch of bubblegum too. Nice sweet Belgian characteristics with a hop finish. Awesome stuff.
3.5 Tap at AQ Bevolution 2nd Anniversary event at Yellow Ape Craft, as "Nebraska Hop God IPA". Strong fruity nose, condensed sourish peaches and yeast. Hazy medium amber/orange color with a thick 3-cm head. Medium sweet, Belgian yeast, strong bittering, heavy does of stone fruits, unripe apricots. Thin body, with a pop gun of sour/bitterness in mouthfeel.
3.7 Tap at Yellow Ape. Bright orange, cloudy. Estery nose, stone fruits, oranges, Belgian yeast. Decently dry and fruity flavor, peaches and oranges. Very bitter.
3.7 On tap at the AQ event at yellow ape. An opaque deep gold pour with a foamy filmy white head that lingers. The nose is a bit boozy, a bit bretty, bready kind of like a sweet thin cake. Medium to full bodied with a slightly sharp carbonation. The taste is yeasty hop goodness with a good dose of boozy burn. The hops give you earthy tropical fruits - very interesting but a bit too much heat for me. Ah I forgot it was a Belgian yeast beer that explains the Brett like character I detected!
3.6 750ml bottle - Aroma - mango, peppers, vanilla, lemongrass and orange juice...pretty extravagant Appearance - bright golden body, clear with a fluffy 4-finger pearl white head, good lasting power and nice lacing Mouthfeel - prickly, medium bodied, medium-high carbonation Flavor - grassy, green mango flavors, bitter black walnuts, finishes with an herbal bite. Tasty! Overall - extremely overpriced, but super tasty. Knocked down a mark for the sticker price."
3.2 Quite strange. Does feel like a blend of an average citrus IPA and a Belgian brew with some wheat and peppery yeast character. Doesn’t seem quite balanced, more of an odd Belgian IPA.
3.1 Draft - Mellow earthy hops and caramel. Clear gold with a decent white head. Vegative hops, orange, some tropical fruit and booze. Resinous on the finish. Not nearly as good as some of their others with a huge bitter finish.
2.8 No backbone, uber simplistic, just not how I like my IIPAs. Not horrible, but really don’t like this and shared with many people.
3.7 Nice balance of citrus, fruity hops and oak. Paired well with shrimp tacos!
4.1 Draft at Moriartys. Clear amber brown with red and gold highlights. Poured in a tulip. Produced a large frothy bright white head that left unusual Styrofoam-looking lace. Sharp taste up front of a strong resin floral drenched in dark caramel. Some dark amber fruits in the background. Sugar cane. Tangerine peels. Pineapple cores. Heart of palm. Pink grapefruit. Barley sugar clear toys. Burnt oranges. Anbesol. Varnish. Autumn leaves. Apricot pits. Sweet, but well balanced with a lot of bitter hoppiness. Feels like a bright sharp Barleywine. Great stuff!
4.0 On tap at Doherty’s. Served in a tulip glass. Deep honey color. Aroma of floral and spice. Flavor is deep and sweet slightly fruity at first, with plenty of rounded bitterness on the backside. Spruce and honey notes on the finish. Complex and interesting. Very Nice.
4.0 Poured From the Tap into a pint glass The color is a bright hazy yellow/orange with two fingers of thick foamy white head and some thick lacing left on the glass. The smell is citrus but with a touch of earthy funk aroma. There is some navel orange or tangerine here in the nose along with earthy grass aroma. The taste is tangerine and a touch of banana with a earthy, herbal flavor. The hops here have some bite but it seems less sharp then expected where the fine malt bill shows that this beer has more balanced then I anticipated. At times there is a bitterness that threatens take over and dominate with a spicy flavor that was interesting. The malts makes this beer work as touches of Belgian malt flavor rears it’s head keeps things from being one sided. The feel of this beer is medium bodied with a crisp, drinkable feel. The ABV here does give a slight kick but this is a beer that can be sipped and not rushed.
3.3 Bottle. Golden pour with a fluffy white head. Citrus, banana, sweetness, yeast, light spice, and hops. About what you would expect, decent.
3.5 Pours a hazy orange/gold with a decent small bead white head. Banana and clove aroma. Taste is sweet pale malt, banana, clove and a hop bitterness that is not overdone. This is a real IIPA/Tripel combo!
4.0 Sweet aroma and apricot color. Has long hop finish and sweet flavor with a fizzy palate.
3.2 Sampled on tap at Nebraska Brewing Co. Pours a hazy golden color with white head. Belgian yeasty, clove, spicy, citrusy, and hoppy flavors. A little different than the barrel aged version. A little boozy, I like the barrel aged version a lot better.
3.6 A hazed golden ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light candy sugar, coriander and citrusy pulp. In mouth, a nice spiced sweet malt with coriander, curacao, nice alcohol warmth, very Belgian. On tap at Breukelyn Bier Merchants.
3.0 Sampled at GABF 2013. Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma of yeast, citrus, fruits and weeds. Flavour is light moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
3.2 750 ml bottle to taster (shared by alexsdad06). Looks good for the style; a fairly transparent burnt orange with off-white head that dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; hoppy and spicy with a bit of tartness. Tastes like it smells, but less balanced. Average (at best) on the palate. Alright, but odd.
3.7 Interestingly odd beer here. This poured a golden color with a white head. The aroma contains citrus, spices, and perfume. The flavor is more boozy than bitter with some white grapes, citrus, and a creamy mouthfeel. A tripel and IPA hybrid going on here but leaning more toward tripel IMO. Overall pretty good beer.
3.9 Poured from a keg at Nebraska brewing company. Yellow pour. Very fruity and bitter but good. Balanced well between a IPA and a hef
3.6 Shared 750 ml. bottle, poured to snifters with a cloudy, orangey gold tint, modest layer of white, bubbly head foam, and spots & streaks of lacing. The nose was herbal, floral, lightly woody and earthy. The flavor presented moderate, somewhat lingering hop bitterness that was tempered nicely by pleasant, light malt sweetness and mild esters. A little less than medium bodied, with fair carbonation and well hidden alcohol presence.
3.9 Nice sweet belgian esters up front, citrus and floral hops, bready malts. Pours golden, nice head, nice clarity. Belgian yeast, grapefruit, floral notews, bread. Nice citrus mixed with yeast. Drinkable at this abv. Nice stuff
4.2 Pours a hazy deeper orange with a large foamy lacing white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, peppery Belgian yeast notes, peaches, mixed citrus and I’m getting a tart cherry/Brett nose out of this beer. Along the lines of a Jolly Pumpkin beer. Flavor of peaches, tropical fruits, peppery Belgian yeast notes, very dry and lots of citrusy hop character. Getting the Brett character in the flavor too.
3.5 Tasted on draft at the 2011 East Nashville Beer Festival. Pours clear, dark orange with an average white head that slowly recedes to average lace. The nose has a nice caramel base with plenty of piney green hops and spicy Belgian yeast, and a light touch of onion that I have gotten off of certain hops before. The flavor is much the same with the spicy yeast character and the bitter hops balanced well by the caramel malt, and that little hint of onion on the back of the palate. The body is full with average carbonation and a long spicy yeast, bitter hops, and hint of onion finish. I really like this beer, and realize that the onion thing is something that I perceive on certain hops.
3.4 750ml bottle. Pours a hazy orange/yellow color with thick white head. Aroma is citrus, green apple, and Belgian yeast. Taste is citrus, pepper, yeasty, with a sour apple aftertaste.
3.5 On tap. Comes golden brown with a nice off-white head. Aroma of pine, citrus, malt, and grass. Taste is lemons, grapefruit, malt, spice, and grass. Some alcohol comes through.
3.6 Enjoyed this beer as part of a sampler pack at the Nebraska Brewing Company with Family. I am not a huge hop head, but I enjoy a good hoppy beer now and again. This was one of the best I have tasted. Definitely recommend trying. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
3.5 Bottle. Very sexy-looking pour -- muted orange, with a roiling head of white foam that hangs on for the duration. The aroma is a bit yeasty and hints at some spice. But while this drinks like a gritty Belgian golden ale, it also carries a distinct fruit salad aspect. Way to easy to drink for 10%. (#4936, 1/25/2013)
3.7 Bottle from the Best Damn Beer Shop in San Diego. Pours clear light amber with a thick white head and a floral aroma. There is a nice pale malt flavor with some banana ester and a very dry finish. A nice combination of styles.
