Nebraska Reserve Series Black Betty

Nebraska Reserve Series Black Betty

Black as night and every bit Imperial, this RIS was originally launched to tremendous accolades. Aged in Whiskey barrels, this barrel aged version meshes the rich chocolates and the coffee-like aromatics with the sweet whiskey nose and drying character of the oak. Slightly behind on the palate are the hops, held in restraint by the wonderfully full mouth-feel and broad flavors brought on by the perfect blend of so many malted barley varieties. Ready to enjoy now and perfect for extended cellaring.
Malts: Pale Ale, Chocolate, Caramel 60 & 80, Black Malt, Roasted Barley, Victory
Hops: Chinook, Columbus, Cascade, Liberty

3.9 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Beczka rządzi i dzieli, nie da się ukryć.
4.0 Bottle. Teku. Pitch black with densed, light brown head. Very long head retention and excellent lacing. Light heavy malty profile - mainly roasted, dark chocolate. Also light to moderate woody, vanilla, some tabbaco and dirty earthy notes in the end. Taste is semi-sweet with some dry and bitter character in the end. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, finish is bitter, dry with nice barrels accents. In general the appearance, head formation and lacing is a "gold standard" for other imperial stouts here. ABV is also extremely well hidden here. Too many earthiness and roastiness here with dirty accents in the end. All in all good and creamy brew with nice whiskey barrel notes.
3.7 75 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt, chocolate, and liquorice - with a slightly bitter finish.
4.4 On draught. Pours black, with a moderate brown head that is dense and persists. Nose is dark malt and cocoa. Taste follows, with a creamy mouth feel and a long finish. Very good example of the style.
3.9 Fat. Svart med ett beigt skum. Dofter av kaffe, choklad och trä. Smakinslag av choklad, vanilj, whisky och kaffe. Fyllig kropp.
3.8 Draft. A- Chocolate, mocha, subtle sharpie. A- Black color, black liquid, beige head. T- Sharpies, chocolate, mild bitterness, roasty, mocha, alcohol. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly boozy finish. O- Pretty good but a tad boozy. Loads of chocolate and mocha throughout. Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to rate this, especially since I’ve had all it’s variants.
4.3 black liquid with tan head. aroma of coconut, chocolate, bourbon. tastes same medium sweetness, medium bitterness, lightly sour. full body, creamy, average carbonation, long finish,
4.1 Appearance: black, clear, brown foam, rocky head, lasts well. Aroma: toasty, whisky, bread, coconut, vanilla. Taste: medium sourness, medium bitterness, medium sweetness. Palate: medium body, creamy, soft carbonation, astringent, long finish, light bitter.
4.4 Bottle. Pours dark brown with medium fluffy-sticky pale brown head. Aroma: bourbon, roasted, vanilla, butterscotch, coconut, toffee, sweetish- i love this. Taste: sweet, some balancing sourness for a second, roasted, milk chocolate, vanilla, bourbon. full body. Smooth to drink. Nice one.
4.0 A rich and flavorful RIS, the barrel attributes don’t overwhelm the stout but compliment it, as it should. Plenty of toasted malts with coffee, touches of chocolate and licorice. The barrel gives it vanilla and a touch of drying woodiness. Overall it’s very nice.
4.0 750ml bottle. Jet black colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, mostly lasting, well lacing, tan head. Whiskey aroma, notes of leather, oak, vanilla, chocolately dark malty background. Taste is slightly sweet, chocolately dark malty, hints of treacle, integrated, mild, slightly dry whiskey notes of oak, vanilla, leather; relatively light body, dangerously drinkable, in no way tacky palate. Not overly complex, rather focussed, harmonious and balanced.
4.0 12,000 beers and no end in sight. Sample from 2012 and 2011 bottles at the "Black Friday 02" tasting on 11/25/2016. Black pour with a medium foamy khaki head that diminishes steadily to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, oak and dark chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of charred malt, oaky bourbon and bittersweet chocolate. The finish is oaky with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.
4.2 pitch black color. Big vanilla bean, dark chocolate molasses, oak and bourbon in the nose. Full on. Tons of dark chocolate, treacles, bourbon, oak, slightly sour mouth. So well integrated and put together. Fantastic lingering dark chocolate oak and bourbon finish.
4.0 Pours an opaque dark brown color with khaki colored head. Whiskey, oak, chocolate, vanilla, and coffee on the nose; follows onto the palate. Full bodied and thick. Finishes with whiskey and plenty of chocolate notes.
4.0 Pours a deep brownish black from the bomber with thin ring of tan brown head that leaves light lace. Aroma of woody tannins, dark chocolate, deep roast, and a hint of soy. Taste follows, drop the soy and add some sweet chocolate and vanilla, earthy middle. Booze is well hidden, thick and viscous, solid beer.
3.7 Black pour with a tan colored, single finger head. Lace present. Aroma is full of oak and whiskey, along with some vanilla, leather and tobacco. On the lighter side in terms of body. Taste has some chocolate notes, whiskey and bitter dark malts. Dry finish. This is good, but the mouth is awfully thin. It’s got it all except for the body.
3.7 Half growler. Opaque brown-black with a ring and smattering of bubbles. Nose is caramel, char, milk chocolate and hints of soy and tobacco. Flavors of milk chocolate, barrel, whiskey and caramel. Medium body is a bit thin and hot with booze, but has a drinkable balance and a smooth, medium carbonation.
4.0 Bottle: Pours black with a small, dark tan head. Whiskey, wood, chocolate aroma. Ashy bitter....dark chocolate, coffee ground flavour. Great balanced alcohol warmth...drinks very smoothly....huge fudge notes as it warms.
4.7 Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Smells strongly of chocolate and some dark fruit notes. Taste is sweet, chocolate, and hints of fruit. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Nebraska Black Betty finishes with a subtle booziness.
3.9 shared bottle, poured a deep dark black colour with a light beige head. nose of roasted malts, caralem, hop bitterness, toasted nuts, dark chocolate notes, vanilla, whisky notes which add a extra sweetness to it. still a nice hop bitter aftertaste.
4.2 Bottle. Black coffee, chocolate fudge malt, wood ash, and whiskey aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Moderately sweet dark chocolate malt, black coffee, and moderately bitter whiskey/herbal hay flavor. Nice body and balance.
3.7 Draft at Mekong. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Fairly roasty on the nose with lots of Hop notes. Thick and viscous on the tongue with lots of hop flavor. Has some solid bitterness on the finish to keep things clean. Solid example of style.
3.7 Bottle at Mette and Theis. Brown with a medium sized light brown head with good retention, lace and regeneration. Chalk, light charcoal and mild roasted malt in the nose. Flavour has bourbon notes of vanilla, coconut, white glue. Some stinging alcohol, chocolate, hay. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation, medium sweet and bitter, moderately alcoholic. A touch hot, but ok.
3.9 Thick and heavy black in color and feel. Woody, chocolate, some dark fruits in the end for a sweet balance. The high ABV sneaks up for sure. Bottle
4.0 Bottle from Binnys, Chicago. Bought in February 2016. My first one from this Brewery. Black with a creamy tan head. Sweetish with bourbon, dark chocolate, oak, light coffee and some roasted malt. Kind of smooth and with a long finish. Tasty.
3.3 Bottle at Theis’. Pours an opaque black with a substantial beige head and lacings. Very very sweet with aromas of coco and vanilla. Full bodied. Medium carbonation. Long dry and sweet finish.
3.8 Bottle at home - thanks to SlackerMads. Pitch black - offwihite head. Chocolate. nutty. Bitter notes. Hazelnuts. Whiskey. Dark chocolate. Minerals. Minty. Very cold - hvor er Papsø. Light coffee. OK.
3.8 750 mL bottle shared with Gus. The pour is a dark brown/light black with a thicker khaki head that falls slowly leaving a good bit of lacing. The aroma is nicely roasty with a good bit of barrel and a light whiskey. There is a decent dark chocolate mixed in. It’s very plain, but well done. The flavors are nice. There is a good barrel up front and a lovely roasty malt and lighter dark chocolate. It’s interesting. It’s a blend of heavy malt and roast and nice bitterness. The mouth feel is a little thin with a nice soft carbonation and. A lingeringly boozy roast that comes through and carries it nicely to the finish. This is a pretty tasty beer
4.0 Bottle at tasting. Black pour. Aroma of whisky, creamy chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. Nice taste of roasted malt, whisky, chocolate, quite some hops, citrus, bitter coffee and some subtle red fruit. Very nice.
4.2 (En fût à Flights El Segundo): Un décadent amalgame de caramel, chocolat et nougat surmontés d’une touche fruitée, fumée et très légèrement soya. Avec la richesse de sa texture, c’est du gros calibre.
