New Belgium / Alpine Lips of Faith - Super India Pale Ale

New Belgium / Alpine Lips of Faith - Super India Pale Ale

Alpine might be small, but their brewing chops are mighty. We teamed up to create this triple dry-hopped imperial IPA bursting with Columbus, Amarillo, Centennial and Simcoe hops. Consider yourself a hero for getting an Alpine beer outside of San Diego.

4.2 Draft at public house in Ghent. So happy to have stumbled back across this! Been a few years. Aroma is a beautiful floral tropical fruit hops and a candy sweetness. Thick fleshy fruit tropical fruit hops in the flavor. Light to medium in body with a long lingering tropical fruit hops. Amazing IPA! Definitely thanks to alpines contribution.
3.8 Very nice IPA, nicely balanced between bitter and citrusy with a huge citrus and tropical flavour ending with lingering pine.
3.4 On tap at Ale Arsenal. Funk, dank and slight citrus. Clear gold with full white head that patterns down the glass nicely. Taste is pine and resin. High bitterness lingers late.
4.4 Had this on tap at the Press Room in Bentonville. Pours goldish with two fingers of white head. Aroma is slight grapefruit and some malt. Flavor is malty with nice grapefruit. Really a very nice beer. Almost my ideal IPA.
3.6 On draft at Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest 2014. Must be a new batch. Golden orange pour, slight haze, and a white head. Citrusy hops, grapefruit, pine, tropical fruit sweetness, mild caramel, bitterness, and fruity. Pretty tasty.
3.1 Keg @ Bier Baron. Deep gold with a small head. Nose has some stewed vegetable. Melon. Citrus and honey. Taste is similar. Canned peas with lemon and honey. Some bread. Light bitterness. Moderate carb.
3.9 This beer pours a very clear golden color with a large white head, and the aroma blends citrus and resin hops with some light biscuity notes. The taste is mildly bitter and mildly sweet with more of the bitterness becoming momentarily pronounced in the aftertaste. The palate fuses a slick texture, medium-light body, and an average carbonation.
3.9 On Tap at the River Room, Whole Foods, Boise Slightly hazy golden orange with a thin fleeting of white head. Classic pungent hop bitter aroma. Hop forward flavors lots of citrus and pine flavors. The Simcoe really makes it I think. A little thick on the palate and a pleasant lingering bite. A hefty sipper .
4.1 On tap at Rozi’s. $14 growler. Smell is very dank, has green flash written all over it from the begining. Nice golden color, solid off white head. Flavor is more dank hops, weed, grass, resin. There is a hint if new belgiums fruitiness. Some malt in there and some savory garlic-food thing. Nice, good and drinkable.
4.1 Growler, from the recent batch brewed at Alpine. Clear golden pour with a white head. Citrusy hop aromas. All kinds of citrus and grapefruit hop notes. Good body and mouthfeel.
3.8 Very nice IPA. Wonderful pine and fruit in this. Bitter finish. Golden pour with OK head and lacing. Great balance and package. Some florals and bitterness. Light sugar and sweetness. Tap at pizza paradiso.
1.6 On tap at the magic tree, nice place for tasting rare beers on tap. OK, so whats the up with super? Does that mean better behaved or more like a rude? Go figger. next is ultra ipa. Looks like any other beer, pale yellow. Has typical low co2 feel on the tongue;. Mouth coating fresh oily feel, like liquid soap. BO on the aroma, such a contemporary ipa thang. Bittermedicine on the tongue what else can be said? Super or not this is terrible on ipa style. Green chewing on rinds grapefruit. Not as rude as most ipa but make no mistake, this is kick ass. Probably least appreciative beer today.
4.0 Pours pale yellow with thick white head. Aroma of citrus, stone fruit, and wheat. Taste is stone fruit, citrus, cherry, melon. Very smooth and refreshing. No booze at all. Very dangerous. Mouthfeel is medium. Overall excellent triple IPA. One of the best
3.8 On tap at PreFunk. Hop resin rules the day, overload of pine, dry sappy bitterness. Slightly hazy pour with small creamy white head. Hops on the nose and full force in the taste. Dry sweet finish. This is what IPAs are all about.
3.4 Type: Draft Glass: Pint glass From: Alpine Beer Company Pub in Alpine, Calif. Price: $6.00 Purchased: Nov. 28, 2014 Consumed: Nov. 28, 2014 Misc.: Collaboration with New Belgium Poured a honey, golden, clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of khaki, white, rocky head when I got it. Serene setting underneath the head. Semi-layered spotty, spiderweb lacing on the sides of the glass. Above average retention. (Sight - 4.25) Smelled skunky resin hops, Citra hops, floral hops, caramel, nectarine, nectarine rind, a tad earthy and pungent grapefruit. (Smell - 4.00) Tasted booziness right away. Also mango, orange juice, tropical hops, caramel, rubbing alcohol, sharp tangerine, vegetables and floral hops late. (Taste - 3.88) Medium body. Creamy-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter, somewhat astringent finish. (Feel - 3.75) This beer had its’ moments, but not one of the top Alpine IPA’s I’ve had. (I know it was a collaboration). Still decent though. (Overall - 3.88) 3.91 88 B+
3.9 Draft. Aromatic. Floral. Fruity. Very hoppy. Strong bitterness with a Moderate duration. Fresh.
3.7 Rated on 02-02-2013 (Bottle) This beer pours a small smooth white head that is mostly lasting, transparent golden body, very fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is pine, earthy hops and caramel malt. The flavor is pine hops, bitter, alcohol and caramel malt. The mouthfeel is lively and this beer is medium bodied. The ABV comes through in the flavor and this is a hop head beer.
4.2 "Citrus and slight tropical fruit abounds in this sticky yet very drinkable double ipa. though intensely flavored, didnt think this was a 9% brew. Very fresh, very good. Alpine and NB know what they’re doing with the hoppy stuff."
3.0 Pours clear golden color with white head. Pine, citrus, and floral notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Just an average IPA, nothing special.
3.7 On tap at St Augustine’s in Vancouver. A medium amber ale, with a bit of white head. No mention of peppers in the listed description, but they are sure by gosh there! They combine mightily well with the hop brigade to provide a very interesting diversion from the usual swill. Well done!
2.5 Horrible horrible beer. Curry flavored ipa which is really sweet and coco nutty. Smells like coconut and pours a light yellow.
3.8 2012 bottle and on tap: pours golden with a light white head. The hops are amazing. Bright citrus along with piney resin flavor. Malt is balanced. As with anything from Alpine, a great beer!!
3.6 Been looking forward to this one... Pours a nice toasted golden with a steady fine white foam sheet with central dome. Smells of sweet pine, resin, grapefruit, sweet malts and hints of alcohol. Smells solid enough to drink. Not mind blowing, but very nice. Flavor is sweet, biscuity malts, bitterness, oranges, grapefruit meat, cotton candy, and some peaches. Medium bodied on slight syrup with low carb and a slight, warm finish. This beer is nice, and I enjoy it. Strong work between the two and a good buy while available. Serving type: bottle 09-04-2012
3.7 Funny name, somewhat 1970s. Massive aroma with so much pine (I get what others note about resin) that it becomes vegetable-like...onion, maybe a bit chemical, too. Good appearance with hazy yellow/peach, white head. The flavor didn’t end too badly, actually. Long finish. Reasonably well rounded. Shared with a neighbor in celebration of my wife’s 43rd birthday. Happy birthday, honey! Bottle.
4.0 I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste citrus, pine, bitter. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.
4.0 Tap at falling rock. This is a bright yellow gold with a nice head. Smells of straight up hoppy goodness lots of citrus an a bit o pine. Flavor is bitter pine rezsin and clementines. Finishes with a lingering sweet and grassy citrus.
3.9 Nice bright citrus and pine aromas even a little tropical; ample hops. Moderatly bitter and balanced. Good IPA for sure but not quite super. Sure wouldn’t mind another one though.
4.4 A: Golden Straw/Mild Amber Hue, Passes Most Light, White Head Ring, Some Lacing S: Malty, Piney, Mild Floral T: Piney, Semi Sweet Malty, Mild Floral M: Decent Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Bitter, Mildly Malty Overall, a pretty decent IPA that doesn’t burn you out and maintains a good malty flavor.
4.0 October 2012. 22 oz. bottle. Amber color with a white head. Huge aromas of pine, citrus and tropical fruit. Caramel, citrus and hoppy flavors. Dry, bitter finish. Awesome!
4.1 Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Upon pour, an instant olfaction of citrus like hops dominate my nose and give off scents of sweet grapefruit, sweet onion and freshly compressed hop buttons. Appearance was simple golden liquid topped with a soapy frothing of foam head. The flavor is intensely bitter that boast a hefty dosage of hops that almost make me start coughing a little like as if I took a sip of cough medicine or shot of hard liquor. The taste of this beer reminds me of a fresh wet hop ale with oily succulent hops while also clearly being a unique and different hop combination that I haven’t tasted in other Imperial/double IPA’s.
