3.0 35 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small off white head. Aroma is grapefruity and light pine hoppy. Dry, pine and toasted toffee malty. Bitter and biscuit into a medium dry finish.
3.1 Poured from 12 ounce bottle purchased as part of a mix six pack purchased at Whole Foods in Brentwood (suburban Nashville) Tennessee. Light amber/ginger ale-like color, aroma of hops and sweet malt with citrus and pineapple notes, light to moderate bittersweet flavor that favors the bitterness but is a tad watery.
3.3 Overall a good hop forward pale ale with taste of grapefruit and pine that lingers on palate with good carbonation. Refreshing and very drinkable.
3.4 Draft at Green Leafe Williamsburg. Pours clingy copper with off-white head. Nose is caramel malt, hops. Tastes earthy, resiny hoppy, with spare caramel malt, and some floral bitterness in the finish.
3.2 February 2012. From bottle. Not a bad pale ale, but nothing special either. Drink and forget kind of beer. A little metallic flavors, but overall drinkable.
3.4 Overall very good pale ale, bomber, Whole Foods, easy to drink, some hops but nothing too intense.
3.0 Good APA... But can't hold a candle to Sierra Nevada PA in my opinion. Obviously it isn't trying to be Sierra Nevada, but SNPA is the gold standard for balance, flavor and drinkability. Dig is a bit sour and zingy on the hop end of things, and slightly toasty caramel on the malt side of things. Good... Not amazing.
3.4 Serving: 12 oz. bottle from the Wegmans Leesburg. It pours a nice gold color with a frothy white head. The nose has a bit of citrus zest, cracker and grain notes. Fairly crisp on the tongue with a little King’s Hawaiian roll note and a touch of citrus. Light to medium body with slightly higher carbonation and a pretty clean finish. Solid summer fare.
3.1 Pours a clear golden amber with lasting head and spotty lacing. Aroma is lemon zest and sweet caramel malts, a little funky dank maybe. More malts than hops here. Taste is along similar lines - malty, a little sour funk, mild hop bitterness towards the end, with a mild bready aftertaste. Medium bodied with lots of carbonation. Easy to drink.
3.6 On tap. This is a great summer beer with the hops and the lemon flavors abounding.
1.5 Dull brown appearance, but with nice foamy head. Somewhat sourish aroma. A bit bitter on the palette. Taste not unpleasant, but probably not one I would buy again for my taste.
3.6 Bold, clear amber with a firm, lasting head. Aroma is slightly citrus with tropical fruits in the back. Light grains finish it off. Flavor has some solid tropical notes, but not overly festive. A bit of cereal grain in the finish. Solid pale. Could easily go through a few of these in a night.
3.4 Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Poured a clear golden honey color that was amazingly crystal clear and had a frothy layer of head. Nose is bready with an aroma of biscuit and caramel malts but not much else and oddly enough reminds me of a whiff of mashed potatoes being cooked in the kitchen, wow. The flavor is mostly malty with a easy caramel flavor and only a minor taste of hops but nothing significant to ever make me want to buy this beer again in bottle or on tap.
3.5 Nice, smooth pale ale, with mild hops and some malty biscuit qualities that remind me of their Fat Tire. Highly drinkable.
3.1 Although I’m not much of a Pale Ale fan, this beer is quite nice! Hop character is strong but balanced with a fruit tinge- not like a lambic or wine, but perfect to make this a very dry, crisp, and refreshing brew. Great for a hot day and very smooth with relatively low carbonation.
3.3 Pours clear copper with about an inch of rocky white head that soon dwindles to a white film - good lacing. Aromas of citrus, lemon, and floral hops w/ some pale malts. Tastes follow with malty sweetness really only coming through as it warms a little. Crisp, med mouthfeel w/ fairly dry finish. Solid pale ale w/ a good hopp character. Straight-forward, nothing outstanding but a good brew. Nice session.
3.6 Nice lemon, grapefruit and a hint of tropical fruit aroma Very good summer beer. Flavors the same with a aftertaste if bitter mango.
3.8 24 carat color and a head that leaves good lacings. Mangos and lemon. Good body with moderate hop bitterness. Unique flavor profile from the hop selection. Nice beer.
4.0 Bottle from Total Wine and More. Pours a clear copper with a creamy beige head and good lacing. Nose is a medley of hops, with citrus, flowers, pine, earthiness ,and tropical fruits, Medium in body. Smooth in mouth feel. Flavor is big on the tropical fruit and there is just the right amount of bitterness for an APA. Finishes very flavorful, and dry and lightly bitter. Really tasty.
4.1 New Belgium Dig Pale Ale has a thick, creamy, white head and a clear, bubbly, amber appearance, with nice lacing left behind. The aroma is of citrus, hop oil, sugar, and white bread. Taste is of those, with some pleasant and mild bitterness. Mouthfeel is watery and slick, and New Belgium Dig finishes semi-dry, refreshing, and quite drinkable. Overall, this one is very nice, and I score it as being excellent. RJT
3.4 12oz bottle. Pour is brown and a ring of white. Aroma is nutty and sweet. Flavors sweet and nutty. Not really seeing the Belgian character. Seems like a decent brown ale.
3.6 Some fruit and citrus in the aroma with a very nice malt base. The flavor has the malt but is taken over by the hops. Very refreshing.
3.2 Draft. Decent pale ale. Medium bitterness, didn’t pick up too much sorachi notes. Light fruitiness. Average APA
3.7 Bottle to snifter. Pours a dark gold--almost like brandy or iced tea. About a finger of white, mostly dissipating head. Light to moderate lacing. Nose is slightly skunky with a touch of yeast. Nice mouthfeel. Light zesty fruit, nice hop profile and just a bit of the usual NB earthiness toward the lingering finish. Very good pale.
2.9 Tap at Mxs Fells point Balt. This was a nice full bodied, heavier pale ale. A bit too malty bready and heavy for my taste, but nice flavor.
3.2 Bottle. LIght caramel malt and fruity hops aroma. Slightly hazy amber with a large off-white head. Fruity caramel malt and mild herbal hops flavor. Medium body and carbonation.
3.4 From a 12 oz bottle at home. Pours a hazy dark gold with a white head. Aroma floral hops. Tastes of hops with a nice malt backbone. Light and refreshing.
3.6 Nuts, pine, some cocoa, tea leaves, and mango on the nose. Clear mahogany with a mostly lasting, off-white head. Light sweet maltiness, some vanilla flavor, and bitter. Light bodied and crisp, with a snappy, hoppy finish.
3.2 Bottle from Total Wine, Sacramento. Pours cloudy amber with a modest white head and a bready malt aroma. There is a fruity pale malt flavor with a dry hoppy finish.
3.8 Draft. Pours clear medium brown with a thin white head. Tastes slightly sweet and slightly hoppy. Smooth and tasty. Smells like grains and sugar. Light body and medium carbonation.
