For our new Fat Tire & Friends Collabeeration Pack, we teamed up with Firestone Walker from Paso Robles, Calif.
A happily hopified Fat Tire thanks to our California friends. First, they created an assertive hop presence and then they added a lager yeast to the Fat Tire recipe. The result? A hoppy amber lager version of Fat Tire with an amplified American hop aroma and flavor. Time for you to hop on this Fat, too.

3.8bottled - nice hoppy/grapefruity aroma. Nice amber color. Great hop flavor. Very good.
4.0From a bottle into a 2016 New Belgium stem glass (also had on tap at Beer Camp Fest in Longbeach, CA. Pours amber with head and lace. Aroma of grains, malt, and straw hops. Medium carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of pale malts, straw hops, slight pine & grapefruit, minerals. Overall tasty and the best of this collaboration series with New Belgium.
3.5Bottle from collab pack. Pours amber. Aroma and flavor are grassy and piney hops, doughy and toasted malts, and faint pear. Medium body.
3.5From a 12oz bottle poured into a glass. Golden Amber color with a thin cream color collar. Nice citrus aroma and taste. Carbonation seems to be high. Great overall collaboration on this one.
3.5Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma is toffee, pear, hints of citrus and caramel. Taste is moderate hops that sweetens on the finish. Medium bodied with some stickiness. Interesting take on Fat Tire and the best of the bunch.
3.612oz bottle pours out a orangish golden topped with a nice head. Nose is pine hops bread dough malts and some wood. Taste is as the nose this a nice hop note.
3.7From bottle, the pour is clear, orange to blond in color, with an airy off white head. The aroma is hoppy and citrus. The taste is malty with a hop backbone. There is a sweetness from the malts but that is quickly washed by the hops. The hops communicate a crisp flavor, reminiscent of apples with a little lime. The mouthfeel is this and the finish is malts but also a watery note. Overall this is a bet with a solid hop profile but not an overpowering hop.
3.712 ounce bottle to wine glass

3.5Bottle at Mr. Goodbar in Buffalo, NY. Definitely has a hop kick to it with the standard Fat Tire feel to it. It’s really a hoppy version of Fat Tire. Not bad.
3.8Picked up single 12-oz bottle from Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, Minnesota. Pours a bright clear golden orange colored brew with a thick light beige head that has some excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of bread dough, northern woods pine, a touch of citrus and caramel malt. Taste is medium bodied, quite smooth texture, with flavors of caramel malt, some light herbal and pine hops and a touch of cream tartar. Finish continues the smooth texture, semi-sweet with a mild bitterness followed by a semi-sweet malt aftertaste. Nice herbal Vienna style beer. (favorite one out of the Fat Tire & Friends Collaboration Pack)
3.8Bottle from the variety pack. The beer is a clear amber with a white head of foam. Good retention. Aroma has doughy malt, crisp, herbal pine notes. Nicely balanced and very easy drinking. Medium body and medium carbonation.
3.7Pours clear blonde with a modest white head. Nose is potent east coast hops with a lot of bitter and earthy tones. Flavor has a good hop dose as well, balanced against a fairly generic malt. Very clean and crisp finish. Drinkable and quite hoppy.
3.6Pours an amber color with a white head. Aroma is of pine and floral hops with caramel malts. Flavor is pine hops right away with floral hops and caramel malts. Finishes with a decent bitter finish.
3.6On tap at St Augustine’s, Vancouver. Clear straw-yellow pour with a white head. Aroma is lots of fruit, a little grassy. Taste is more grassy, some citrus zest, nice lemon. Interesting yeast here too. Dry finish. Nice take on Fat Tire.
3.7Poured from bottle. Aroma of malt and grapefruit. Golden with slight head. Tasting citrus hops, malt, touch of spice. On the dry, crisp side. A very nice beer.
4.2Very bright, crisp orange citrus and hoppy flavor. Slightly dry. Very summer like.
3.6Medium orange. Soapy white head. Ahh yes, now we’re talking. Really great hop character. A good addition to the pack.
3.412oz bottle. Amber color with one finger head. Malty with a little grapefruit aroma. Taste is malty, grainy with some tropical fruitiness. Nice.
3.5on Tap. pours a nice amber color with a decent head. Aroma of citrus, malt sweetness and bit of grain. Taste of citrus, bit of light fruit and malt sweetness. Nice bitterness and a clean finish. Moderate body with a clean, smooth feel. Nice take on their Fat Tire.
2.9Appearance: Bright lighter copper. nearly clear. decent ring of white bubbles.
Nose: Lighter caramelized malt. Light pine and herbal hops. Lightly toasted cereal
Taste: easy drinking light to medium malt forward. Hint of sweetness. Hint of bitters at the end
Body: lighter and very fluid
Parting thoughts: a very easy drinking beer that feels a bit like a macro.
3.6Bottle in Seattle. Small foam, pretty clear amber orange. Soft, inviting, balanced aroma. Very nice pale ale, well balanced, sweet mild malt body with a modestly aggressive bittering hop regime. Very clean, bitter finish. Very drinkable. Solid.
4.1Aroma is pine and very dank hops. The flavor is grapefruit, citrus/mild citrus peel, malts and a mix of bitter, slight sourness and hops in the finish.
3.6Nice, hoppy ale. Very light amber color with tan head. Good lacing. Light body Cereal, malt in the aroma. Citrus and floral in the hops. A good beer from an underwhelming brewery.
3.3Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Golden color. The malts are a bit grainy, but the hopping is delicate and fruity; moderate bitterness, rather dry, with soft mouthfeel; I suspect there’s some butter.
Not bad.
3.5Sparkling, dark copper pour, creamy off-white head, a bit of light lace. Aroma has some toffee and caramel sweetness, a touch of date-like sweetness. Flavor has some nutty essence to it, a bit of pear-like fruitiness, just a wee bit of light citrus bitterness and some white grapes in the finish. Pleasantly textured mouthfeel. Good collaboration. Thanks to Aurelius for holding one of these out for me from his variety pack.
3.6Orange body white head. Aroma of resin and pine. Taste is slightly bitter very resinous some sweet bready grains. Nice beer.
3.3Pours a nice dark golden with soapy white head. Aromas are earthy and dusty. Vegetal. Similar flavours. A nice beer considering it’s usually a boring style.
3.512oz bottle. Filtered orange-tan body. Big, steady, off-white head. Certainly an improvement on the original, some pleasant lager tones. Some pleasant modern hop tones in the finish, but mostly just a classical "American" feel. OK.
3.5Tap at P house, golden with small white head. Notes of lager beer, piney and lightly grapefruit hops, and grain. Glad this wasn’t red colored even thought it was an amber. Somewhat clean and hoppy for a new Belgium. Had a sample, wouldn’t order one
3.9Bottle. Golden pour with a fluffy finger of white head, great lacing throughout. Nose is pleasantly hopped with citrus and fruity bits, some floral notes. Translates to citrus hop sweetness and a minimal amount of the Fat Tire yeast/malt. The hop flavor is signature FW with swirling citrus and tropical fruits. My favorite of the box by far.
