Ale brewed with Lemon Peel and infused with Espresso Giddy Up is a delicious juxtaposition of coffee, sustainably grown in Brazil and espresso-roasted locally, pressed into an ale with the deep color of a copper cowboy kettle. First whiff is full of sweeet caramel, toffee, latte. Then, a hint of lemon scone flavor from the addition of lemon peel. Body is creamy, resonant of espresso, yet the finish is bright, even a bit frisky. An ale to git along with...

3.0Not bad. It reminds me of the 1664. Nicely roasted with a hint, only a hint, of citrus at the end. Pretty mild, but not offensive.
3.3Bottle. Clear reddish, dirty brown with a frothy tan head that lasts. Aromas of espresso, toasted malt, and light citrus. Flavor is coffee, caramel, and some nutty/earthiness. Light bodied.
3.5Bottle - Pours rosy brown with a filmy white head. Nose is milky sweet coffee with chocolate bread malt. Taste starts malty and bitter, then flows into light roast coffee, hot cocoa, hazelnut, and milky sweetness. Lots of carbonation on the finish masks the flavor. Thin and bubbly. Decent.
2.3Backlog purge. From 12 oz bottle. Look I don’t even want to write anything about this. It’s lemon peel and espresso in a beer. Of course it’s bad. It can’t be good. It isn’t. It just tastes like dirty citrus.
3.5Interesting mix. Medium body. Typical porter flavors. Light roasted coffee, hinted with mild citrus hops. I expected a watery finish.. Yet it has a decent finish. Short finish, yet satisfying...
3.4pours a clear dark brown with a minimal tan head. This beer is sweet and malty with a light taste of coffee and a slight spice. I feel the taste is slightly watered.
3.6Pours a deep, dark mahogany. Mostly clear with a thin head and little retention. Aroma’s are really delicious smelling and well-layered. Coffee for sure with toffee also apparent and a noticeable lemon twist as well. Tastes medium bitterness with light sweetness. Medium bodied with good carbonation and a firm bitter/lively/acidic? finish. Overall pretty cool and kindof a style bender.
2.8pours a clear dark brown with a very small tan head that goes away quickly, and no lacing.
smell is of espresso and a touch of cocoa.
taste is thin, coffee, some cocoa, and a little lemon. ends light and a little fizzy.
3.3Pours orange and red with lacing tan head. Aroma of coffee and sweet sweet malt. Flavor is sweet, light body not too complex but good. Overall decent coffee beer
3.4Paired with ziti and meat sauce.
A: Oooh this one smells good. A little funky coffee color. Some hops. Smells like a really high quality light roast coffee.
A: If ever a beer poured looking weak: this was it. The good lacing from a rough pour is only what saved this. The pour looks thin. Water brown dull poop brown color.
T: Not bad on the taste. Light roast coffee to start with a dark roast coffee finish. It has a little sharp malty sour note that maybe is augmented by the lemon peel? Definitely cannot tell the lemon peel as a stand alone. Not mind blowing but not bad.
P: A little light. A little sour. Not bad.
Overall this is not a bad beer. It’s cool that the coffee flavor is being applied to a not stout/porter. In this case the coffee’s acidity is very under control: something missing in most coffee beers. The problem is there is a strange sour note in the middle. There is a strange juxtaposition between the heavy coffee flavor and the lighter ale sour note. Like I said, I appreciate putting coffee into a not stout/porter but perhaps there is a reason coffee goes with those heavier styles of beer....
3.4Pours a cola brown. Smells of roasted malt and coffee (duh). Taste is pretty much the same...dark roasted malt and coffee. I can barely taste the lemon peel, but it’s there. Has a hint of that earthy note that most New Belgium offerings tend to have.
3.8Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a moderate tan head on it. Nose has just a faint quick whiff of some citrus up front, but is dominated by the coffee in there. Taste is also pretty coffee laden, though there is a faint bit of sourness at the end. Actually quite tasty and very drinkable.
3.7Bottle from Shawan Liquors. Pours coca cola brown with a thin khaki head. Has some solid lacing in the glass. Has a nice roasted coffee thing on the nose with a hint of a lemon cookie thing as well.lots of coffee on the tongue but its not overpowering. Finishes clean. Another solid entry from New Belgium.
3.212oz bottle. Amber-brown, filtered, garnet body. Steady off-white head. A lemon coffee beer, huh. The medium body is decent enough, but the in yoru face artificial flavors are kind of off putting. Tastes like a pretty good, easy going coffee beer that got spiked by a little lemon flavoring...which of course heavily detracts. Someone should really ban NG from the flavor additives for awhile...this is another beer unfortunately tweaked, but not into oblivion..still enjoyable...grew on me a lot.
3.412 oz. bottle. It pours a a dark reddish orange color with an off white head. The aroma is decidedly coffee forward with some cocoa and hints of vanilla. The flavor is big with lukewarm coffee, some citrus and a bit on the acidic side with not much else. Nice effort, but not real exciting.
3.3Clear brownish amber with a small beige head. Coffee and toasted nuts aroma. Taste is malty with some nutty and coffee flavors; barely sweet and just a little bit more than that bitter. Aftertaste kind of cola-like. Medium bodied and a little dry.
3.2Bottle. Pours a dark brown with almost no head. Aroma of fresh coffee grounds, toffee, and roastyness. A little creamy, but kind of thin. Flavor is coffee, roasted malts, and slightly acidic. Not bad, really
3.0Hints of espresso in the aroma. Pours a hazy brown/red with an off white head and good lacing. Lots of coffee with a nutty character and a medium body.
4.0Brown ale with the destinct smell of coffee. Looks almost like carbonated coffee too. Taste is mostly coffee with some caramel lurking in there. Never noticed the lemon the bottle said was in there but don’t know that I really wanted to have lemon in my coffee so it was all good. Really good breakfast beer (yep drank them after eating my eggs and bacon). Hope to see this one come out in 6 packs so I dont have to keep buying samplers.
3.8On tap @ New Belgium. Brown pour with a white head. Big coffee aroma. Toast, light roast, and sweet sugar. Slight creaminess. Nice creamed coffee flavor. Roast, toast, and brown sugar. Slight nuttiness. Quite nice.
3.512oz bottle, pours a dark brown with a bit of light passing through the bottom of the glass. Aroma is coffee and chocolate and am unable to smell any lemon. Light mouth with sweet coffee and a bit of tartness balancing out the back end. It’s unique.
3.5Location: 12 oz bottle from a Spec’s, 9/24/13
Aroma: The aroma is a mix of coffee and toffee malts with some lemon zest
Appearance: It pours a reddish-brown color with a tan-brown head and average lace
Flavor: Flavor-wise, the mix is the same, it is malty, with some coffee, and lemon too
Palate: The body is light-medium, not watery at all, and it has a decent overall feel
Overall Impression:
This one delivers what is describes in the description. It doesn’t sound like it would work well at all, but it kind of does. Odd and interesting. Worth trying too, just not necessarily 100% my cup of tea...
3.8Bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a small lingering tan had. Aromas of coffee, carmel, toated malt and a hint of citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of coffee, carmel, light roastiness and a hint of citrus with a crisp lingering coffee finish.
4.0Nothing wrong with that! It’s actually a pretty good ale, and I like the nice light body and rich coffee flavor. Aroma is great: strong brewed coffee aroma. The finish is nice too: dry, coffee, and a faint smoothness...is there a market for breakfast beers yet?
3.5Dark amber pour. Thick eggshell head. Espresso aroma. Roasty. Earthy. Flavor is very coffee. Nutty. Roasty. Chocolatey. But not bitter. Very nice.

3.5Bottle. Pours a ruby red to brown with chalky white head. Aroma is roast malt with expresso notes. Some toffee noted in the taste along with roast caramel chocolate. A slightly zesty finish. This is a unique offering from New Belgium.
3.4On tap at the brewery. Pour is hazy brown with a light red tint and a tan colored head; great lacing. Big malty, biscuity, coffee, lightly floral, caramel, green peppery, and malty aroma. Taste is big coffee, straw, lightly grassy, earthy, caramel, and toffee with a ligh roasty finish. Light body with medi carbonation. I remember chugging this stuff back in the day, but not as good. as I remember.
3.212-oz. Thanks M&H! Pours a cloudy, grainy dark brown with a loose tan head. Big coffee nose. No real lemon presence. Watery medium body with flabby carb. Lots of coffee on the mid palate. Gets pretty thin toward the end.
3.912 oz bottle from the Folly Pack, thanks brenn79. Aroma is doughy, coffee, bread, chocolate. Pours clear mahogany with a medium off-white head with good retention. Taste is sweet with a hint of tartness, finishing lightly bitter. Flavors of coffee, vanilla. Mouthfeel is creamy, body fairly thin. I remember rating this with a Facebook app back when it first came out in 2008 before I joined Ratebeer. Good brew, I’m glad they brought it back.
3.9The second non-porter/stout coffee beer I’ve had this year. There need to be more of these. I don’t really get any lemon but the espresso aroma and taste is excellent, blending well with the caramel malt backbone of the beer.
