New Belgium Lips of Faith - Heavenly Feijoa Tripel

New Belgium Lips of Faith - Heavenly Feijoa Tripel

Oh my God. It’s not only a reaction for drinking one of Dieu De Ciel’s beers, but a figurative translation of the Montreal brewery’s name. Just ask our brewmaster, he’s in heaven when drinking this collaborative tripel, inspired by Dieu De Ciel’s love of hibiscus and Belgians love of the obscure, hence our addition of tart feijoa fruit. Cheers!

3.0 Tart but not overly sour. Taste of lemon, raspberry, and strong funky flavor. It's quite potent so drink careful. This is a craft masterbeer
3.8 On tap at Flix Brewhouse in Round Rock...bread, floral, dough, cheese, banana, alcohol, smells like tart citrus, orange, hazy, minimal head, medium to heavy sourness, medium bitterness, light sweetness, light body, slightly sticky, lively, med finish. Super beer with a tart profile from start to finsh. Semi sweet to balance the minimal hop bitterness.
3.6 Pours deep hazy gold into a tulip. White head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet hibiscus and tropical fruit aromas. Medium bodied with sweet/sour pineapple and kiwi fruit and mild pith upfront turning quite tart in the lasting finish. The best/only use of feijoa I’ve ever tasted... but becomes a little cloying after a while bringing it down a notch.
3.0 Bottle. Poured a light amber color with a white head. Very bitter floral aroma. Sweet malt flavor with a bitter and floral flavor. The hibiscus is very prominent.
3.8 Bomber with Zach and Brandon, tasted blindly, but guessed a sour, obviously not, pouts a burnt orange color with a small head. Nose is tart and sour with subtle yeast. Taste is bitter with some sour and tart notes. Alcohol buried in the taste. Finish is sour and tart, could pass for a sour to me. Quaff Score 8 / 10
3.7 Pours a hazy golden orange with a white head and aroma of spices and floral notes. Taste is tart, with fruits, floral notes, spices, and hops leading to a sweet, sour, fruity finish. Nice collab brew

3.0 I commited before the bartender got to say sour. Doh! Tasted like a trippel at first but then sour face.
3.6 Rich amber/gold color; Medium creamy body; Aroma of yeast, caramel, fruit, & clove; Flavor of sweet malt, yeast, caramel/syrup, fruit, some hops, and spice; Nicely balanced; Overall, slightly cloying - but pretty decent.
3.4 It poured a hazy amber/copper color with an off-white head. The aroma was of fruit from the feijoa, spices with pale and caramel malts and a hint of dough. The taste was similar with a nice blend of the fruit and a tripel. Very nice.
3.6 Hazy strawberry blond, the aroma carries the florals of NB. Tripel but also this crazy fruitiness that must be feijoa. Sour fruity character, but mixed with the malts, florals and hop of NB tripel.
3.9 Bottle... Clear amber pour with a tiny, creamy, white head. Decent retention. The nose is spicy, floral and fruity. Medium to full-bodied with tingly carbonation. The flavor is tart, fruity and floral accompanied by a hint of black pepper. Tangy finish.
3.2 Overall not a bad Tripel but not one of my favorites. A bit of a fruity aroma but nothing special. The flavors were interesting with that fruity tartness that apparently is from the feijoa fruit. Mouthfeel was too thin. A unique beer but not a great beer.
3.6 Pour is a little thin, with a typical trippicle aroma. When cold, it tastes like a yeasty, boozy blonde. When it warms, the tartness of the fruit takes over. Interesting to let this sit a bit.
3.7 On tap at Krazy Karls. Appearance: finger of white head, amber orange color, cloudy. Aroma: orange, leathery yeast, light apricot . Palate: average carbonation, light body, good lace. Taste: slightly sweet to mild tartness. Overall, like how malts show through yeast, but not amazing still. Unique for style.
3.1 On Tap at Whole Foods, Boise. Hazy golden with a small white head. Dry Belgian yeat aroma, with a standard light malt and fruity yeat flavor. rather dry for a Trip but flavorful and pleasant. had a few bel-trips recently and this is in the pack.
2.9 Golden Amber pour with a finger of head. Yeasty aroma. Sour overtone with a bitter finish. Meh.. .
3.3 Light orange color, lingering white head. Fruity hibiscus dominates the aroma with dough and toast in the background. Flavor follows the aromas very close; hibiscus and bready malt. The beer has an initial sweetness which that’s quickly subdued by a pleasant tartness. Reminds me of a pino gris. Solid beer.
3.9 22 ounce bottle, best enjoyed by March 2014. Served in a goblet, the beer pours a slightly hazy golden/peach color with about an inch off-white head that stayed around a while. There’s also a lot of lacing. The brew smells like hibiscus, stone fruit/tropical fruit (which I assume is the Feijoa), bready malt, and some peppery spice. It has a fruity taste that’s hard to describe, but like the aroma it reminds me of a stone fruit and tropical fruit, along with some citrus making it an unusual mix that I wasn’t expecting. It’s a bit sweet and tart. I can also taste some bready malt and floral notes (hibiscus). Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s well carbonated and easy to drink. I think it’s a good brew overall, I liked it. $8.99 a bomber.
3.8 Honey color with white head, nose of spices and light fruit, cherries, banana. Light body with good amount of carbonation. Tangy from the start, dry, vinous characteristics, slight fruity sweetness. Balanced and delicious.
3.5 Color of dark honey, poured very clear with a very slight head. Taste starts with a good mild tripel and quickly hits with flavors of mango, maybe papaya. Even that is dwarfed by the sweetness of well, flower oils. They are very sweet, very pronounced, and the hang in the whole mouth well after the swallow. Normally, that would be off putting, but it works for this beer. Aroma is mild but hints at what that sweet finish will be. This is a polarizing beer I think, but good if it is your thing.
3.6 On tap. Deep amber/yellow. Heavy foam on pour fades to a thin layer. Odd sort of metallic funk nose (which, I just realized, I seem to get from other Lips of Faith beers). Tastes of yeast, floral (specifically hibiscus), passionfruit. Almost tropical in its qualities.
4.1 Very tropical aroma and flavor, pineapple, floral hibiscus, mango, hints of strawberry and watermelon. Somewhat sour. Very good beer. Nice mouthfeel, fizzy, not syrupy or watery.
3.2 22 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a hazy copper with a thin ring of white foam around the edge of the glass. The aroma is definitely on the sweet side a little bit of tartness and herbal notes coming through as well. Taste is sweet, a little acidic, and bready. I do get a bit of alcohol burn toward the back end, but overall, this beer is pretty drinkable.
4.0 Bpmber shared at Craft Ale 20-Aug-2013. Poured hazy golden with white clingy head. Nose was black peppery hibiscus, funky yeasty malt, hopcitrus. Tasted complex, hoppy, citric, with notes if black pepper, hibiscus, and a complex, lively mouthfeel. This one was stellar.
3.3 Pours from a pretty bottle a slightly cloudy peach/orange color with a medium off-white head that dissipates gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of funky fruits and spices. Medium-bodied with flavors of tart bitter fruit, peppercorns and yeast. The finish is peppery with a tart fruity aftertaste. Decent overall, if nothing else I learned I don’t care for feijoa fruit.
3.7 Orangey clear brew with a tight head. Aroma is pretty alcoholic with fruit that I am guessing the exotic fruit in the brew. Taste is very fruity with a Belgian yeasty finish. This is an interesting brew. I like it.
3.9 This triple pours a rich ruddy copper with a very thin head. Nose is a bit like a pinot grigio. Sharp, acidic and with tart stone fruit. Taste is dry and crisp very like a brut champagne. Body is light and fluid. Finish is clean and just a little tart. Very nice.
3.7 Nice tart/sweet dichotomy working here. Pineapple tropical profile with hints of peach. What especially works for me is the slightly bitter finish where the hops come through. Nice work. . .
3.6 Draft at Rustico - Alexandria. Aroma was tropical notes - apricots, peaches. Sweet malts. Flavor was nice tropical fruit characters, sweet malts, apricot. Sweet peaches. Alcohol a bit noticeable, but enjoyable.
