Cross pollinate your tastebuds with Belgian imagination and you’ll be sipping this ale while visions of pluots dance in your head. Pluots? A hybrid of apricots and plums that impart a subtle sweetness. Ferment that with a wild Belgian yeast strain and you have a fruity yet spicy nature with a body reminiscent of red wine. Delicious.

3.6"Thicker than expected with a good dose of belgian yeast. Only slightly funky and tart from the brett with ample fruity sweetness. While it may have been even better at, say, 7-8%, this was yet another LOF beer that we all enjoyed."
3.3Bottle @ Haket Bar. Golden with a tiny white head. Fruity and hoppy tones. Fruit, malt, spices and hops. Full body with a nice, bitter / sour finish.
2.822oz Bottle. The pour was a clear pale orange with a small (less than 1 finger) white fizzy head that diminished in a matter of seconds, leaving nothing behind and having no lacing to speak of.
The aroma was very mild of pale grain malt and a mild Brett yeast with hints of green apple, banana, plum, pineapple, a light vinous scent and a touch of spice.
The taste was sweet and fruity throughout, progressing slightly with a moderate yeast presence, a mild tartness and a hint of alcohol at the end. The flavor lasted only a short while after the swallow, being somewhat sweet, fruity and lightly tart.
Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a very soft carbonation.
Overall I was expecting bit more from this brew, although the taste was pleasant it seemed to be a watered down version of a Wild Belgian Ale... www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews
3.2Not bad at all. Hazy golden pour. Floral aroma. Sweet - plum and apricot and yeast all there, fairly well balanced. Real clean and light especially for 10%. Good summer sipper.
3.7This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance had a nice hazy golden yellow to ruddy orange color. There was a small white head that dissipated within less than a minute. There was barely any lacing.
The smell had a nice sweet fruity aroma, slightly peachy but also allowing the pluot fruit itself to come in. After a bit of warming, a nice light white pepper helps to balance it.
The taste was excellent by having a nice sweet fruity blend to make a slight sticky sweet aftertaste that lead to a sweet refreshing and somewhat watery finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was good to me.
Overall, lately, New Belgium has been a hit or miss with me, but this one was quite enjoyable to me to make it well worthy of having again.
2.7The aroma is fruity and yeasty with malty qualities. The appearance is gold with almost no head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall OK.
3.6Persimmon nose. Hazy amber, thick head. Vinous, a little warm but pleasantly so. White grape and persimmon flavor, good intensity. Nicely balanced, soft carbonation. I fully expected to dislike this, but it was clean, well made, and quite enjoyable.
3.4A little underrated - I don’t think it’s as bad as the rep. Alcohol well hidden, with some floral yeast. Plum and apricot is not badly integrated, but the palate is quite light here. Blonde pour, ok head and lacing. Tap at Monk’s Cafe.
2.7Draft pours clear yellowish orange with low head. Aroma is sweet stone fruits. Taste is big sweet fruits, overwhelmingly sweet
4.0Sampled on 5/26/2014. This fruit beer pours a slightly cloudy apricot orange color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, apricots and plums, a touch of brett and some tartness. A medium bodied fruit beer. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and floral. Decent carbonation. The apricot flavors really shine in this beer. It’s a touch tart and a touch dry. Definitely has a Belgian influence, in the yeast and the spiciness. There is also an earthiness that matches well with the apricot flavors. Not too sweet, yet very fruity. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
3.6Pours a translucent golden with a creamy white head. Aroma of plums, light Brett, tropical fruits and cherries. Flavor of cherry candy with light Brett notes.
3.1Bottle, 22oz. A clear one, except lots of micro floaties. No head to speak of, just some white bubbles. The aroma is very fruity, with a vinous touch. Some hoppy notes. Peaches, pine cone notes and a distinct fruity sweet touch. It feels quite sweet on thep palate, guess it’s the alcohol kicking in. Full body, slightly warming and with a nice carbonation. Lasting warming, sweet and fruity finish. Sort of cloying this one, without being that. Still not a favorite of mine. 140522
4.0cloudy gold color; spicy, sour, fruity aroma; a light, sour beer with notes of sour plum, apricot, raisins, and hints of pepper;
3.0Pours a hazy golden yellow. Aroma is sweet fruits. Taste is sweet fruits with some tartness.
2.7No retention and very light lacing. Smells of apples, apricots and grapes. Tastes of apricots, plum and yeast. Sour finish.
3.0Slightly hazy, light blonde colour, not much head. Fruity - plummy - aroma. Sweet character with sticky, slightly gluey malts, and a light pluot accent. Ok, kind of vaguely Belgian-accented fruit ale.
4.1I really enjoyed this beer. I’m not always into fruity tasting beers but this was an exception. It tastes of plums and apricots at first but when you swallow it’s followed by a warm sensation. I believe this would be a great summer beer.
0.5Bottle shared at the January 2014 tasting in Santa Cruz. Eggy, sweaty, farts, cheese. Gross and cloying. Bugger off, New Belgium.
3.9Funny this coms up as a fruit beer when really it’s a sour. And decent one at that. Bought in a wee plastic grower from The Beer Growler in Savannah while trying, successfully, to escape Canadian winter. Thanks to that I’m getting to try some great beers like this one. Nice smell on this one with good hits of it’s fruit and sour. Decent gold colour with light white head. Lovely gooseberry sourness, with hints of grape to it, and a surprising amount of sweetness lurking behind eberything, definitely worth a couple of pints, but might not ne an all afternoon on a patio drink,
3.0(22oz. bottle) - Slight white head which pretty much devolves into a small ring of white bubbles in the glass. Clear golden body. Visible bubble activity in glass. Slight aroma reminiscent of apricots (the "ot" in Pluot!) Sweet flavor balanced between the pluot fruit and the Belgian yeast characteristics. No real hop character. A bit too sweet for a standalone beer. Might be good with spicy food, such as curry.
3.0Bottle. Golden with minimal head. Lightly boozy with fruity tartness and quite a bit of sweetness. Very eh.
3.310th February 2014
Hazy gold beer, small white head.Palate is smooth and semi dry and very slightly viscous. Mild carbonation. Mild creamy malt. Little spice. Syrupy fruits. Very subtle sherbet. Light semi dry finish. Quite Belgian Golden like, shame the fruits were not better showcased.
2.3Golden pour with minimal head. Sweet fruit aromas that remind me more of apples than a plum/apricot hybrid. Flavor is sweet and reminiscent of apple juice. Not much else going on here. Another bland uninteresting Lips of Faith beer.
3.6I’m so out of touch some times, I hear about the Lips of Faith series and never really pay much attention since I haven’t had regular access to New Belgium beers in about 7 years, but this past few months they’ve made it to Florida. A little extra money in my pocket finds me grabbing a couple of these. It is a mixed bag. I enjoy the nose, somewhat funky and fruity and almost reminiscent of lambic. Fruitiness tends to gooseberries. What is a pluot? Oh, a plum apricot hybrid - I get neither here. Well I dunno, maybe that strong acerbic note in the flavor is pluoty. Seems like a fruit you might want in a slightly maltier beer, but this dry backbone on this features this fruit too much, as I said, acerbic. Nice look, golden, hazy, moderate lacing. Looks and smells like a nice golden sour but the flavor is biting, somewhat bitter, though dry and tending to tart. Like I said, a mixed bag.
1.9Kind of gross. Pours an ugly pee yellow with no head at all. Smells a bit like plums and wine. Taste is like old wine cooler, very sweet with very little beer taste. Leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Lips of Faith series are hit or miss, and this one is definitely a miss. Had in the bottle.
3.9Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall just off-white head with thousands of small bubbles rising from the bottom. Aroma of alcohol, tons of malt, plums, apricots, cherries, pears and bunches of apples - nice and fruity throughout. Full-bodied; Dense mouthful with a big malty flavour and then tons of fruits with the apricots the strongest, then some plums and pit fruits and a hint of pears at the end. Aftertaste shows a nice malt and alcohol note at first then fading to a subdued fruity and pungent spice kick - nice and strong, but sweet as well. Overall, a nicely balanced beer with malt strong but the fruit even stronger - ending with a good amount of alcohol, but mellowed by the sugars as well. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Arrowine in Arlington, Virginia on 19-July-2013 for US$6.99 sampled at home in Washington on 19-January-2014.
3.1Pours hazy golden color out of bottle. No real head. Aroma of wine, sweet wine. Taste is sweet malt with a sort of bitter fruit. Creamy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Not bad not sure if I would drink it again.
2.8Served in a chalice at the Hay Merchant, Houston. My wife ordered it. It had zero head, a golden yellow color. Aroma is sweet fruit, yeast. Sweet taste, reminds me of wine, although I’m not sure what kind, as I don’t really drink wine much. Would not order on my own.
3.7Tap at Clips of Faith 2013. Foamy white head on top of a golden-orange body. Interesting deep pungent fruit tones, not tart. Some canned fruit cocktail notes. Surprised me that it was 10%. The fruit tones really balance out the big malt backdrop. Mild earthy undertones. A little too big and meady at times, but still a unique, enjoyable beverage. The pluot never strikes you as fresh or natural..more of an extract fake feel. Still rather delicate for the ABV. Enjoyable in some respects, I’m curious to try the bottle.
3.3Pour out of 22 oz bottle, hazy yellow pour with white head, aroma brought notes of white fruit, hints of tart lemon into some trashy notes, slight earthy, yeasty notes with a hint of herbal, floral notes. Taste is a mix of herbal, trashy notes, hints of yeast, slight lemon, white fruit, finishing sweet, dry.
