3.7 355ml Dose. Klar und dunkelgolden mit großer Schaumkrone. Sehr hopfig mit leichtem Honigaroma. Sehr herb mit ordentlichem Körper.
3.3 Can from Vinmonopolet’s BU. Golden to amber body. Big, white head. Resin, malt, floral, hay, pine, grapefruit and some citrus and orange flavour. Bitter, some herbs. Some sweetness. Medium to light body. Medium carbonation.
3.7 Nice ipa with hops and some malty notes. Taste is real IPA with citric twist. Nice beer.
3.4 Bottled 655ml (from Shell in Austin 2.99$). Clear golden color, good white head and lace. Piney, citrusy aroma. Medium-bodied. Lots of piney hops in the flavor. Pale malty sweetish backbone. Long lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Nice hop bomb.
3.7 Bottle. Yellowy Gold in colour. Good off-white head. Fruity; tangy grapefruit citrus, lime. Hoppy; piney resinous hops; lovely piney fruity hop notes. Malty; sweet malts, caramel. Good fruit/hop/malt balance. Quite bitter citrus fruity and hoppy throughout. Very drinkable. Enjoyed this. Lovely IPA! (2014-09-28)
3.9 Pours an orange golden color. Very clear. About one finger white head. Pretty long lasting head. Okay retention, good lacing. Aroma is sweet citrus, like orange. Maybe a little grapefruit, and pineapple. The aroma is sweet, but there’s a hoppy undertone to it, it counters the sweet aroma. There’s also pine and pine resin. Taste is full of piney bitter, and resin hops. It has sort of a late forming bitterness, but the bitterness that lingers. It does have some sweet malt floating around. Sip to sip it changes a little between sweet and bitter. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied. No alcohol taste. Crisp and dry and dry and dry. It’s bitter, not as balanced as the label claims. But very nice. Overall, this is delicious. A well made IPA, hoppy, bold and very nice. Can’t believe I kept passing it up. Don’t you do the same. I absolutely recommend this, and I’ll be looking to pick this one up again.
3.2 BB 09Jul17. Poured a crystal clear orangey-amber colour with a two-finger off-white foamy head that retained very well but laced poorly. Carbonation high with medium sized bubbles. Aroma of moderately strong pine and grapefruit, neither of which is over-powering; moderate sweetness. Taste of grapefruit and pine; moderate flavour, not over-powering; moderate to strong bitterness. Light to medium body. Crisp with a soft mouthfeel and a lingering strong IPA bite on the finish.
3.6 12 oz. bottle pours copper, white head strong aroma of pine very hop centric flavor, bright and crisp brew.
3.5 12 oz bottle. You can sense a little banana and citrus. This has a rather nice kick. Well done.
3.0 Draft at the airport. Fairly clear gold to amber with a medium sized white head. Aroma is grapefruit and not much else. Taste is initially pithy and mostly bitterness. Hop flavor is more grapefruit with not much else. Seems rather one dimensional and just meh. Citradelic is way better.
3.5 Bottled. Pours clear amber with an average off-white head. Aroma of citrus, apricot, floral hops, caramel and pine. Sweet flavor that ends up being more dry as bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A nice IPA. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
3.1 12 oz. bottle. Poured copper, white head. Aroma of pine, citrus. Taste was bitter, fruit rind, pine and citrus.
3.5 Fruity aroma. Fruity and bitter taste. Good bitterness which fills the upper part of the mouth a weak moment. Good beer slightly sweet at the end. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
3.2 Sabor marcante do lúpulo com amargor que predomina na boca. Toque levemente cítrico. Simples mas agradável.
2.3 Bottle, drunk Winter 2013. Clear, copper-amber. Feeble off-white head. Bready, grainy, lightly sour and oxidized, always oxidized....Stale hops add pepper and orange peel. Vanilla lingers... Wow, this is an IPA? Even if you made the lame "But it’s an English IPA!" argument (which they don’t even bother to do), this still wouldn’t cut it. Just another bad amber ale-ish sort of thing from this horrendous brewery. Bready, oxidized, overcarbonated with fizzy carbonation. Poorly textured, not malty, etc...etc...etc...
3.4 On tap at Ted’s Montana Grill, NYC on 8-Nov-2016, served in a snifter. Clear pale amber colour with a medium sized white head which dissipated quickly. Aroma of citrus and pine. Medium body and carbonation. Taste of lemon, grapefruit caramel, malt and floral hops. Light, some bitterness, refreshing although pretty average.
4.2 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a cloudy pale orange with a small white head. The aroma is full of hops and citrus. The taste matches the nose.
3.5 Working my way through the New Belgium oeuvre with Ranger. A 12 oz. bottle poured into a tall clear stein. Delivers a light head that is replenished by some active carbonation, leaves some nice laces later. Has a pretty, golden body enhanced by the streams of bubbles. Scent of citrus, not overpowering. The first taste is a spike of lemon and some following woodiness. The hops give way to a bitter finish. Pleasant but not enthralling. There are other readily available IPAs I will go to first. But I will certainly buy this again.
4.3 2015 BJCP Category: 21A American IPA AROMA: Fairly strong citrusy hops; slight candy scent. Low, clean grainy malt aroma in the background. No alcohol, No grass. 10/12 APPEARANCE: Bright copper/pale orange hue; high clarity. High CO2 and large white froth. 3/3 FLAVOR: Solid pale malt base with strong, dank hop presence throughout. Caramel/candy sweetness up front immediately followed by drank resiny/piney hop flavor at the finish. Slight oxidation due age of bottle (which might account for pronounced sweetness). 17/20 MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; medium-high CO2. Smooth, soft texture. Bitterness lingers into the aftertaste but without astringency. No alcohol presence. 4/5 OVERALL IMPRESSION: One of (if not THE) best mass-market IPAs. True to the style and highly enjoyable. 9/10 TOTAL SCORE: 43/50 NOTE: I am a rank-pending BJCP judge. I am reviewing commercial beer to BJCP specs to hone my judging skills.
3.6 Bottles. This is just a really nice IPA. Great look. Good malt backbone. The hops are the star here. It’s not really bitter, although those who dislike IPAs may disagree. Good blend of pine and citrus. Doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but does what it should. EDIT: now sold in a 19.2 oz. can, which is welcome.
3.4 Bottle at home. Big frothy head. Citrus zest and pine needles on the nose. Piney, woody dusty hop profile. Bitter finish with old citrus. Nicely balanced.
3.4 Bottle to a plastic cap at Bourbon ’n’ Toulouse, Lexington, KY, 8.5.16. Clear-to-hazy amber with a white head. A little bit of papaya and the green leaves in the nose, bitter, dry, a little bit of onion in the mouth. Very carbonated, light body, light bitter finish.
4.1 355 ml bottle. Clear honey-amber pour capped with a fluffy white head that laces all the way to the bottom. Aromas of pine needles, lemon and honey. Soft fruit at first in the mouth before a firm pepper and grapefruit bitterness washes in. Lingering bitter finish with a citrus aftertaste. Enjoyed the hell out of this.
3.6 Nice, slightly hazy but still golden-amber pour. Aroma is fresh, displaying all of these nice American hops, almost like a hop.cheesecake. Drinks very easy, not overly frith but yeast is playing nicely, together with strong hop character that beer has. Nice and drinkable IPA; ho injection that satisfies you for some time.
3.8 Bottle - pours orange with a big lacy head. Aroma is citrus, piney, bready and a bit of funk. Taste is dry up front with a bit of sweetness, finish is dry and lingering. Creamy palate.
3.1 Pours a medium amber yellow with a thin white foamy head. Light citrus and pine aroma. Very smooth but not much flavor. Pretty ordinary and simple. Not that great.
3.2 Bottle, bb 7/17. Clear golden amber with an inch of white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine needles, some tropical notes, hints of onion. Very sweet with little discernible malt character (some biscuit I guess) but lots of fruit and pine. The earthy and tropical elements I’m not so keen on, but the bitter and piney finish pulls it back together. Fairly feisty hops but the blend didn’t do that much for me and there’s nothing much else to the beer.
1.9 It's an IPA I just cannot handle the amount of hops involved. Sorry but it gets a low rating.
3.5 Chewy hop profile with a bit of bitterness and bready malt. Refreshing finish.
