Fall is here and with it our seasonal ale, Red Hoptober. Shining like autumn leaves in a globe glass this beer pours a dark and lovely garnet as it builds a bright, inviting head. The Eldorado hops are bold and present with a distinct, piney flavor while the caramel malt and roasted barley provide a backbone to stand Red Hoptober upright. Centennial and Cascade hops offer hints of citrus, tickling the nose, while the tongue carries a subtle, roasty tone that pairs pleasantly with the warming bite of bitter. Red Hoptober is perfect for shortening days and campfire nights.

3.612 oz bottle pours amber with a tan head. Aroma of floral, pine and malts. Taste is malt, spice and pine.
3.8bottle. Poured clear ruby with an inviting creamy off-white head. Perfumey hop aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation and a sticky tart finish. Caramel malt flavour with some spruce hop notes.
3.8Very nice red ale with just the right amount of hops. Nice beer from new Belgium. Only available in the fall
3.4Part of the New Belgian fall variety pack. Probably my favorite from the pack. Nice flavor with a decent hop profile.
4.0Pours a clear brown-copper with a short, sticky caramel-colored head. Roasted smoky malt and grapefruit aromas. The moutfheel is a little thin and wet with some scrubbing toward the end and a powdery finish. This is a Porter meets Calofornia Pale Ale. Coffee up front with floral and citrus hops being picked up in that order. There are some interesting things going on with this one. Otherwise, it’s average.
3.4Looks deep dark and red. Lots of interesting notes on this one. But it is a little one note and quick on the finish.
2.9Pours reddish brown and has a tan head. Has a citrus aroma with notes of roasted malts and floral hops. Has a good balance of malts and hops in the taste. The hops is crisp but nothing over powering. Overall, an enjoyable beer.
3.3Bottle. Mild chocolate and piney hop aroma. Light coppr/brown color and fairly constant 2-cm head. Earthy hop mix initial / very light cocoa or bready chocolate cake in mid palate / returns to earthiness in final, with some mild lingering hop bitterness. Thin body. Very light flavors. Pleasant, Okay.
3.2Pours reddish brown, filtered. Aroma is great, pine, roast. Taste is hoppy, with little malt sweetness. Nice change of pace for fall beers. A little thin.
3.3Clear copper with a rocky beige slowly fading crown. Aroma is floral with herbal notes, caramel and some fruit beneath. Taste of caramel, floral hops and not much else. Bland, gritty with a prickly and somewhat bitter finish. Ok at best.
3.5Ar: Slightly burnt caramel, golden raisin, some hay.
Ap: Clear amber-red - medium light tan reddish-tan head with good retention and a fine coating of lacing and foam.
T: Toasty caramel, with a light sweetness - fairly clean yeast profile, some mossy hops, a bit of lemon - medium-low bitterness - finish is caramel, hay, and tart citrus.
P: Medium body with medium-high carbonation - finish is medium-dry.
O: Easy-drinking amber - nice malt profile and some interesting hop flavors, too.
3.2Bottle @ tasting. Aroma has spicy and herbal hops, some pine. Flavour is medium bitter, some caramel malt sweetness and again herbal and plant like hops. Okay.
3.0Pours a reddish amber. I found it to be a little too malty. The aftertaste was off. Probably not something I'd try again.
3.2Pours reddish amber with a nice wispy tan head. Medium bodied with lush carbonation. Notes of resinous citrus, chocolate malt, toffee malt, fair bit of roast. I found the roasted malt to clash a bit with the hops.
3.4Poured from bottle at Revolution brewery. Sticky tan head. Red pour. Malty aroma. Decent hops. Average beer
3.712oz bottle from Total Wine

3.1[4844-20121005] 22floz bottle. Mild wet leafy hops aroma. Clear, bright red body with a long-lasting creamy light tan head. Toasted wood and grainy leaf residue flavour. Medium body. Average. (6/3/7/3/12) 3.1
3.3This is what it would be like to eat a mouthful of hops, if the hops were cold and wet instead of dry and leafy. Eventually some malt comes through. This beer is very hop forward, but not terribly bitter.
3.4Purchased in a six pack from Paul’s Grocery in McCall, Idaho. Pours a clear dark copper color raising a medium sized beige head and light lacing. Nose of roasted malt with some citrus and floral hops. Medium in body. Flavor is a good balance of malts and the hops, with some chocolate in the malts and pine in the hops. The finish is slightly bitter and dry . Good for the style.
3.3Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy amber with a small beige head. The aroma is floral hop and spice. Thin mouthfeel with a light spice and fruit malt with nice lingering bitter finish. A good amber ale from New Belgium.
3.4Pours clear brown with a medium beige head, fine lacing. Aromas of pine, nuts, toast, and chocolate. Medium-light body, creamy and zesty, lightly dry. Little sweetness, a hint of citrus, then a lasting medium bitter finish. Very drink
able. Big and interesting for an amber.
3.9One of the better reds I have had, really nice balance with good hop profile balanced by the sweet malt. Nice body for the style with great lacing. Highlights are the flavor and the balance for sure.
4.0Tap sample at the brewery.
Deep copper color with a nice off white head.
Toasty malt aroma, some nuts and spicy earthy hops.
Super nutty flavors, light cocoa, mild roastiness, medium bitterness, juicy caramel malt and faint dried fruits.
Refreshing, dry, long bitter finish, drinkable and good.
3.5Bottle. Pour is amber with a beige head, good retention/some lace. Aroma of pine, caramel, toast, citrus, earth. Taste is moderately bitter, pine, toast, earth. Palate is drier, soft, oily, bitter finish. Decent enough, but not much different from Fat Tire and inferior to the old Hoptober.
3.7Pours a clear dark amber/brown. Aroma consists of caramel, chocolate, nuts and earthy citrus. Taste is medium bitter. Palate is lively with medium body and creamy texture. Not my favorite style but well made and easy to drink. Cheers!
3.312 ounce bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with a small biege head. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus, and pine, Taste is caramel malt, citrus, grain, roast, and pine. Easy to drink.
3.5Deuce to pint. Looks good; a mostly opaque amber with off-white head that dissipates into lacing. Smells and tastes of bitter hops and amber malt. Average on the palate. Enjoyable.
3.7Bottle. Pours a deep dark ruby red/brown color. Nice lasting beige head that has good lacing too. Strong aromas of burnt toast, hops, and citrus. Taste is even more bold. Nice and hoppy, with the roasted barley and caramel malts making this one really shine. Medium mouthfeel with light carbonation. Amber is def not my fav style, but I’m really enjoying this beer this season.
3.5(12oz bottle) Pours a clear amber body with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, citrus, chocolate, and toffee. Flavor of caramel, nuts, bread, citrus, light pine, grain, and cocoa with a dry, moderately bitter finish.
