New Belgium Rolle Bolle

New Belgium Rolle Bolle

Rolle Bolle is a wonderfully fun Belgian yard game and a delightfully easy summer ale. Brewed with monk fruit and soursop it stays true to the Belgian tradition of playing with beer and all that goes into it. Roll on.

3.2 Text message rate backlog. Pours light gold. Spicy sweet scent with earth. Mild on both the sweet front and bitter back. Touch of spice. Thin and bubbly. Source unknown.
3.0 To be honest, I’m not sure what to make of this ale. It’s refreshing, which makes it an ideal summer beer. Yet, the fruit flavors are rather strange. I admire their balance, though. Color seems a bit too pale, but the mouthfeel is crisp and smooth. This is a good beer, but it’s far from being one of my favorites.
3.3 Bottle. A- Tropical fruits, wheat. A- Pale gold color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Slightly bitter, slighly sweet, medium sourness, tropical fruits, spices. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- If you are unfamiliar with monk fruit or soursop, this beer might have an off taste. Overall, it’s nicely done.
2.9 Fruity, yeasty aroma. The light yellow color looks like it can be a whitbeer. The taste isn’t as light as its color. Starts with a sweer flavor. Ends bland.
3.3 On tap at Buffalo Wild Wings in the Stapleton complex of Denver. Pours a yellow color with big head. Light straw aroma. Significant carbonation and medium mouthfeel. Flavors of straw hops, minerals, water, melon rind. Overall very light on malt, light on body, but some hop bitterness.
3.2 Pours a golden color with a soapy white head. Notes of fruit, grains, earthy hops, and yeasty bread.
3.5 Best by 25AUG13 Well, it’s April, therefore the summer ales gotta be rollin’ out! AMIRIGHT?!?!?!?! Light gold - pretty much polished brass with a fine target pattern of fine bone white foam. Smells of grain, sweet malt and corn and a hint blueberry at the back end. I like the nose. Flavor is grain, hint of belgian yeast, some clean lychee sweetness on the finish that I keep rolling about my mouth. Thin bodied with moderate sharp carb and a semi dry finish. Tasty beer. I don’t really get the whole new belgian pale ale quarterly thing they’re trying right now with different esoteric fruits, but I’m happy to give them a go.
2.5 I had this at Sevens. Pours gold with white head. Taste is funky, wheat, just misses. I thought this was poor. I would pass on this.
3.2 Bottle. Golden and quite light, with just a bit of haziness. Nice frothy and sticky head. Drinks with just a hint of yeast and lemon, but otherwise is a pretty even-keeled, "every day" beer. (#5316, 11/7/2013)
3.1 (Draught) Pours a clear pale yellow body with a medium white head. Aroma of herbs, florals, earth, and pineapple. Flavor of pepper, grass, herbs, yeast, and stone fruit.
3.1 Bottle:   Clear bright straw, large frothy white head, nice lacing, moderate carbonation.   Sweaty fruity aroma, a little mealy.   Somewhat of a fake floral start, perfume, a little like fragrant soap.   Wheaty background.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finish is too artificial, soapy, with sweaty floral notes.   Not terribly bad, certainly a change of pace, but too fake overall.
3.2 12oz Bottle. The pour was a lightly cloudy straw yellow with an average (1-2 finger) white frothy head that eventually reduced to a fluffy puddled film with a large collar, which produced excellent full sheets of lacing. The aroma was of grain and cereal malts, herbal hops and a soapy Belgian yeast with a bold note of citrus (lemon), a mild vinous scent, a definite fruitiness (must be the monk fruit) and a light peppery spice. The taste was lightly bitter with a nice fruity sweetness and a creamy malty feel from the start, becoming decently hoppy with a strong citrus presence and just a touch of spice towards the finish. The flavor lasted a tad longer than average following the swallow, with the slightly spicy citrus taste fading slowly off the taste buds. Mouthfeel was light in body with a creamy, dry texture and a ticklish carbonation. Overall this is a good summer BBQ brew that I see it pairing very well with some grilled Surf and Turf... www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews
3.5 very drinkable,,,,,, smooth ,, hay, citrus, grass, golden, clear, hazy, frothy large head, lightly bitter, light body, thin feel, soft carbonation, good beer,,,
3.5 This brewery is not quite in the belgian style. They do great ones but are too soft in tastes. It was refreshing and nice in the whole as other style.
2.8 Bottle, 10 days past its "serve by" date. Poured a pale hazy color with a white head. Very light on the tongue, and very tasty. Great alternative to a pilsner on a hot day.
3.6 Pale golden with medium fluffy head. Aroma of hay, flowers, honey. Taste is sweet and flowery, light but snappy. Finish is short with some lingering light hoppiness.
3.2 Very drinkable beer. Pours very light. Some head. Grass and hay on the nose. Olmert not sure what monk fruit and soursop taste like buy this is drinkable.
3.6 12oz bottle...had to try this as it is brewed with soursop and monkfruit and I was not disappointed. Bright golden with a thin white head the sweet/sour flavor of the tropical fruits along with a crisp and rather dry tart finish made for a very drinkable and complex beer. Well done.
2.6 Bottle from Kroger. Very light pour with a small white head. Aroma is hay and maybe some sourness. Taste is kinda citrus, light bitterness, and that’s about it.
3.2 As the end of summer nears, I thought it would be a good idea to flush the queue as much as possible of all of my summer seasonal beers. For some reason I’ve been putting off alot of summer ales this year. This one, well, doesn’t have very good curb appeal. The label... no comment. The description... not making things any better to say the least. Still, I’m going to suffer through this. And now I learn that it’s a Belgian ale. Great. This beer is a super light yellow in color with a wickedly frothy bright white head. I still don’t want to drink this. It smells like fermented compost. There are some grains, rotting fruit, and a hint of Belgian yeast in the nose. It’s better in the mouth, much like a pilsener malt-forward session ale, but with some soured bitterness in the finish. I do have to admit that the addition of soursop and monk fruit are a nice addition and probably make this more enjoyable than if it was a straight-up pilsener malt-heavy Belgian ale, but that doesn’t change my overall experience of the beer right now. The fruit seems to give it somewhat of a smooth mouth feel and weighs down the mouth a little. It also gives it a sweetness reminiscent of a sparkling white wine. Neat, light, interesting, and, I admit, better than I expected.
3.1 $1.68 bottle from Trader Joe’s, Charlottesville. Pours clear light gold with 2" of fluffy white head. Smells of sweet grass, pepper, lemon, and light orange. Tastes of light grasses and even lighter fruits. Not great but it’s refreshing.
3.2 Pours a light hazy yellow. Aromas of soap lemon and yeast. Similar bitter soapy and lemon rind flavours. Nice.
3.2 Nice yoked bottle, consumed from same without benefit of pouring. Good label. Woody Belgian aroma and flavor. Dry woody flavor, musky yeast. OK, not great. Trade with PorterPounder, great Indian Summer afternoon.
4.0 I like this. It has light flavor with some sourness. A very dry finish. This is pretty good actually.
4.1 Pale Yellow, Medium Foamy Head, Lots Of Lacing. Nice Strong Tropical Fruit Aroma. Sweet, Tropical Fruits, light malt, light east. Soft carbonation, watery. and lightly creamy. Refreshing. Nice. Loved it, might be my new favorite summer beer. Recommended.
3.1 Poured a pale yellow color with a thin white head. Aroma has fruit and cheese. Lots of yeast notes as well. Taste has lots of grains at first with fruit. It transitions into a tart and fruity finish with some citrus. Interesting, but a little strange.
3.2 Pour in Mason jar at Stella’s in Grand Rapids -- just as bars erupts in applause as guy at end of the bar proposes to his girlfriend with guitar -- is butterscotch brown with a gorgeous one finger fluff cap that fades into clumpy hills & valleys. Sadly the taste doesn’t match the appearance. The best choice in my diction is "meh". Not offensive, well balanced, but missing that certain something.
3.1 Goldish blonde body, ok head. Berry fruit nose and flavor. Rather ordinary fruit beer stuff. Mostly inoffensive, but forgettable.
3.5 tap on 5/12/13 - Pours clear gold with a dense white head and an aroma of citrus and mild, indistinct malt. The flavor is of sweet malt with mild to moderately bitter hops that leads into some lingering bitterness in the finish. It’s light bodied with lively carbonation, a good, refreshing beer.
2.9 Bottle pour of a a pale bright just slightly hazy lemon yellow with a thin dissipating head. Aroma of lemon citrus and light bread and sour notes. Taste of light sweet malt that leads into a fruit, citrus and a slight fermented sour with a light bitter hoppy finish. Life body with carbonation that dances on the tung that has a short finish. Overall interesting and refreshing beer.
