New Belgium’s seasonal release, Saison, pays tribute to Belgian farmhouse ales brewed to celebrate the fall harvest. Pale bronze in color, our Saison is slightly spicy and delicately hopped. A sweet malty note glides along with herbal tones produced by an authentic Belgian yeast strain. The finish is surprisingly dry.
Originally, local brewers crafted Saison beers for seasonal workers in the farming community to enjoy at the end of their day. With typical hoppy character and an intriguing Belgian twist, Saison will appeal to hop lovers and wheat beer drinkers alike. Whether you’re pushing a plow or a pile of paper work, Saison will help you bask in the afterglow of a job well done.
Saison - Enjoy the season.
Pale bronze in color, this delicately hopped ale has a bright, yeasty, artisanal quality worthy of toasting those long autumn sunsets.

3.6Location/Date:Bottle from Dave on October 23rd, 2014.
Appearance: Pours a yellow cloud.
Aroma: Aroma is of light lemon, yeasty.
Taste: Yeasty, light lemon, light spice.
Palate:Medium light body.
Summary: Accessible saison, not too yeasty which I prefer.
3.312 oz. bottle from Cash Wise in Williston. Appearance: finger frothy white head, straw, very very slightly cloudy, good lacing. Aroma: leather, belgian spicy hops, belgian yeast. Palate: light body, moderate soft carbonation, bitter finish, moderate dry finish, light chalky body. Taste: light sweet biscuity malts into light sweet citrus, transitions into spicy hops that grows in bitterness. Overall, unique, but not super close to style. Enjoyable drink, but not very sessionable in my opinion.
3.4Serving: Bottle from a mix pack from Wegmans Leesburg. It pours a hazy yellow with a solid white head. The nose has a bit of spice, yeast, and malt. Lightly floral, a touch sweet, with a spicy finish on the tongue. Light to medium body with medium to high carbonation leading to a medium finish. Surprisingly decent.
3.1Not a huge fan of saisons but this is a pretty good one.. Overall it has a smooth taste and very good appearance. Impressed with the palate.
3.2Mix pack. Yellow and fizzy with a soft white head. Lemony, yeasty nose. Tart, slight spice, with a little bit of a creamy banana finish. Perfectly good saison here.
3.1Slightly spicy, poured into glass, hazy golden pour, mild hop, good beer. Slight fuzziness, soft aftertaste, nice finish.
4.0I’ve had real Saisons’a from Belgium and France, and I must say, of all the American styles I have tried as well, this one comes closest to the real thing.
2.612oz bottle from the local Jewel, not really impressed by this one....the aromas were strong but the aftertaste was something of flours....
3.3Bottle . Poured pale amber with a skim white head. Aroma is citrusy with some yeasty ester. Light bodied, creamy mouthfeel with a tart acidic finish. Light malt flavour with spicey notes of corriander and banana peel.
3.612 oz bottle from Mile High Wine & Spirits. Pale golden appearance with a white head. Belgian yeast, light hops, pale malts, floral notes, light peppery spice and light banana. Medium body with a crisp feel and a smooth finish. Pretty tasty.
3.7Golden pour with a fair white head leaving a drape of lace. Very yeasty. Earthy. Fruity. Lemon. Orange peel. Banana. Grass. Fairly spicy. A tad sweet. Low bitterness. Pretty dry. Medium body. Good all-around Saison. I may not necessarily seek it out again, but I like it.
3.7Beautiful bright clear golden straw pour with good, but quick fading, white head. Nose is lightly citrusy and yeasty with hints of clove. Flavor has a slight hop bitter bite which is added at the tail end. Fairly refreshing, but a little thick on the palate. Maybe could use a touch more carbonation? Pretty good though.
4.1This is a nice Belgian pale ale and a bit on the hoppy side. It is slightly hazed yellow orange and has a fine-bubbled head and little, tiny spots of lace. Fresh fruit and floral notes dominate the nose. I am getting pineapple and grape especially. Plus there is a little bit of clove spiciness which is brought out by the beer’s dryness. This is crisp across the palate, light bodied and very flavorful w/ moderately vigorous carbonation. A little bit of cookie dough malt character plays off strong citrus rind bitterness in the finish, bringing out some more zesty citrus flavors. This is a very well put together beer by New Belgium. Tons of flavor, crisp and very drinkable despite being a bit on the strong side. I could drink this all night.
2.9Taster at brewery. Pours golden with a white head. Leaves a shitload of lacing. It’s got that Belgian yeast thing on the nose which I wasn’t quite expecting. It’s almost sweet on the tongue. It needs some barnyard funk to balance out the sugar. Finished fairly clean. It’s a miss for me.
3.8Pretty tasty Saison. If this was available year round I'd probably buy it like I buy their Triple and Abbey to satisfy by Belgian fix(at a cheap price). Hits all the right notes for me.
3.2Bottle. Slightly hazy deeper yellow pour with a white head. Slightly spicy, yeast, and a little dry on the tongue. Okay.
3.9Bottle @ home from the New Belgium fall folly pack. Pours a pretty clear golden yellow appearance with a lasting white head. Some banana, white pepper, clove, hay, and barnyard in the nose. Very clean profile. Pretty floral, some straw / hay, and grass. A bit sweet, light yeast, mild banana. Pretty nice chugger. Better than most of the stuff NBB releases these days though I wouldn’t say it’s by any means a traditional saison.
3.6Poured a pale yellow color with a medium sized white head that faded quickly. Aroma has lots of lemon and yeast with some skunky notes. Some egg/cheese notes as well. Taste has floral notes with more lemon and a touch of yeast. Good fruity flavors as well. Aftertaste is a bit sweet with more plumb and lemon.
2.9Pours a lemon-yellow with a foamy white head. Has a lemon and yeast aroma. Flavor is bitter, with some lemon and a strong spice that adds too much bite. Just not my thing.
3.5~Strong yeasty aroma of perfumey spice, corriander, vanilla, bubblegum. Bready, lemon.
~Pours a clear light pale color with lasting white small wispy head.
~Spicy yeasty vanilla lemon peel flavor.
~Medium bodied, medium CO2, lingering yeasty spiciness.
~Enjoyable interesting saison. Yeast is an interesting one.
3.712 ounce bottle from a Folly Pack, from Harris Teeter Hollymead, opened 8/29/14. Pours a clear yellow color with a large foamy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of bready malts, spice, yeast, honey, citrus zest. The taste is spicy, herbal hops, apples, bready malts, honey, yeast, spice. Medium bodied, moderate lingering spice. Solid beer.
3.5Does not hit with funky yeast flavors and smells as hard as other saisons I’ve had. Actually the wheat/yeast character is pretty mild, so you could, for example, drink all 4 from your sampler pack in one sitting.
3.3Bottle from the singles bin - hazy gold with a moderate, soapy lace - nose of herbal and peppery hops, tart lemon, lightly peppery phenolics, some white sugar sweetness, very mild muskiness - flavor is medium sweet, but with a balancing tartness to it - the hop bitterness and phenols are a little rough and abrasive late, but there are some pleasant herbal notes and lightly rustic yeast character - there are some mild banana esters, which I am not a fan of in this style, but there are very subdued - so, some good, some not as good, but much better than I thought it was going to be.
3.412 oz bottle pours light, clear gold with a white head. Aroma is farmhouse yeast and bananas. Taste is lemon, grass, spicy hops and bit earthy and herbal. Nice hop quality, needs something more though. OK saison.
3.2Clear golden with bubbly white head. Lots of lacing. Aroma of citrus and saison yeast. Tastes yeasty, grainy, and slightly bitter. Medium bodied. Decent.
3.6Aroma is yeast, medium spices and a hint of bubblegum. The flavor is spices, malts, citrus, light tropical fruit and a mildly tart/sour finish.
3.7Bottle re-released in the 24-"Folly"-Packs as Saison Harvest Ale. Aroma of peppery bubblegum yeastiness and a hay and pilsner malt with a bit of toast. Interesting herbal and fruity flavor with some delicate spicy hops and a leafy twang, with some hibiscus and lilac, a touch of wheat and bubblegum, and a dry yeasty finish. Interesting.
3.0bottle. decent flavor but not really my style. not a fan of the spice or the dry finish.
