New Glarus Cabin Fever Bock

New Glarus Cabin Fever Bock

Cool days draw us close to the warmth of home fires. This is the season to sip away the chill and embrace quiet evenings with friends and family. You hold a Wisconsin Style Honey Bock, easy going and more approachable than its traditional dark German cousin. Bock beers have existed in Wisconsin for over 150 years. This pale bock is brewed with an exclusive blend of Wisconsin two row barley that balances seamlessly with our special European hops. Naturally sweet Clover Honey was added in the kettle accenting warm flavor notes on your tongue.

Whether you reminisce the passing summer sun or thrill to squeaky steps through drifting snow one thing is certain about winter in Wisconsin, this too shall pass.

3.5 Pours a clear gold on tap with fluffy white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of mild German lager yeasts and bready malt. Taste follows with a touch of caramel and earth. Great to style, solid lager.
3.5 On tap at the Heartland Bar & Grill in the Sheraton Madison, WI.. Dispensed to a shaker displaying a clear, golden hue, with a frothy layer of soft white foam, and doily-like cling to the lacing. The nose was lightly perfumed/floral, with pleasant malt & honey sweetness, and just a touch of fruitiness as pit variety. Light to medium bodied, and a lively carbonation, the taste was similar notes, crisp, and nicely sessionable. The bartender was not sure of the style, so due to the light color, fruitiness, lighter body, and modest hop influence, I told him that my impression was that of a Light Hybrid/Blonde. I’ll stick with that although there are some similarities between the 2 styles.(Helles & Blonde)
3.5 Ar: Rich, clean malt and hints of sulfur; toasted grain, some sugar, and the slightest hints of toffee, bubblegum, and vanilla. Ap: Deep copper-gold, crystal clear; small white head with moderate-low retention, leaving a loose ring of big-bubbled foam and a haze of small bubbles across the top. T: Toasted, full malt profile; rich and grainy, with an upfront sweetness that dries out and gives way to full malt tones through the finish; crackers, bread, and touches of sulfur and butterscotch; low bitterness with a mild herbal character. P: Medium-full body with medium-high carbonation; finish is medium-dry. O: A very solid pale bock; malt richness, the right level of sweetness, and clean fermentation profile; lacks a bit in malt complexity, but that’s only a very minor flaw.
3.6 Aroma is malt and very "beery". Flavor is malt dominant slightly sweet hint of bitterness and very good carbonation. Excellent body very clean Pleasant finish and super drinkable.
3.6 like nectar from the heavens, light and crisp cereal taste with a hint of sweet.
3.6 12 ounce bottle from Woodman’s in Beloit, WI, served a little below cellar temp from a NG pils glass. One of those beers I’ve had numerous times and just discovered I never rated, so here goes...pours a very clear but very bubbly palest gold, with a large creamy smooth off-white head ...lots of caramel malts in the nose, light herbs (thyme, tarragon), some nice but faint grassy and floral touches...fairly light-bodied, moderately sweet, excellent grain extraction here, the bready malts dominate with the sweetness gradually diminishing and we have a very smooth, lightly sweet, faintly tart and peppery finish. This isn’t anything that wows me, but it’s a hugely drinkable and stylish rendition that I hope returns next time sooner rather than later.
3.6 Bottle. Clear gold in color poured with a thin white head that quickly dissipated. The aroma was malty corn with notes of sweet honey. Very clean and drinkable.
3.0 Pretty ussualy stuff from new Glarus. Always solid. Very mild simple beer. Not much to say tho
3.6 A pleasant tasting lager. Get a bit of caramel and honey. Lively carbonation. Some dryness in the finish.
3.6 Honey smell. Taste is honey, a bit of a kolsch type of taste, a bit of bitterness, and a mild honey sweetness in the aftertaste.
3.5 Bottle. Pours gold, with a white head. Aroma is grain, honey, and hops. Flavor is honey, hops, grain, and citrus. Medium body. Decent stuff.
3.3 Bottled, from shrubber85, golden color with thin foam, sweet honeysuckle aroma, flavor has a nice bock and honey balance , cereal, good finish
4.1 Pours a pale straw color. Flavor is light, crisp and extremely refreshing. Extremely drinkable, this is a beer that could be consumed all night long. Overall clean and refreshing. Honey is surprisingly absent for a honey bock.
4.0 New Glarus Cabin Fever has a thin-to-medium white head, a deep gold, slightly hazy, bubbly appearance, and very little lacing left behind. The aroma is of mild, subdued malts, and a touch of honey. Taste is of those elements, but the honey and hop bitterness really present themselves in the taste. Mouthfeel is medium, and New Glarus Cabin Fever finishes crisp and refreshing. RJT
3.4 Bottle: Clear gold with a thick white head. Honey, barley aroma. Taste is barley malt, honey.... Almost a little smokiness to the honey....a hint of spice...grows sweeter as it warms..... Pretty good.
3.6 Pours a clear yellow with medium head. Very smooth with a good taste of malt and honey. Another good beer from New Glarus.
3.4 Not bad for the style, but not my fav. Tons of honey / sulfur flavor, sweet light malt.
3.5 bottle shared witrh bunch of pals at club w, party time with jerm in town, clear orange por and crazy smooth stuff...I dig it!
3.6 Bottle. Golden with large white head. Aroma of apples, light biscuit, CO2, and floral hops. Medium/light body, moderate honey sweetness, fruit notes (apples, pears), biscuit, light hop bitterness, and dry finish.
2.7 Golden brown in color. Clean and refreshing taste and texture. Minimal Laceing. The honey taste is a bit off.
3.1 pours a clear straw gold with a medium white head. aroma is grass and hay. Taste is sweet, malty. A hint of honey. Sweet finish. Nice lacing. Slightly watery, but very drinkable. Not my style, but good.
3.7 Fresh and delicious. Perfect for a snowy Super Bowl Sunday when we actually have cabin fever.
3.3 Straight from the bottle. Aromas of caramel, malt, bread, and honey with a hint of hops. Flavor is mildly sweet. Nice beer.
3.3 12oz bottle, poured into a snifter. The aroma is initially bready, with a corn muffin touch, combined yeasty, slight damp, egg drop soup funk which fades. The bread and corn remain, although less so, with a faint honey and citrus sweet late. It pours a clear, effervescent gold, topped by a light, fizzy, white head that reduces quick eventually leaving just a small fuzzy island and a touch of lace. The beer’s taste is a medium-light sweet and light bitter. It’s thin, fuzzy, and light. My initial reaction is that it’s a more polished version of PBR, but not as fuzzy or full, and smoother. The flavors of bread and corn muffin come through first with a honey smoothness and zesty citrus finish containing light spruce notes. There’s a grassy and bread aftertaste akin to aforementioned PBR, but much lighter and more pleasant.
3.7 "another via trade w pfoxyjohn...this is a good summer refresher that lets you know lighter fare does not have to be simple or boring. light and crisp, but with a little body and a lot of flavor. nice rich malt & hop balance with a kiss of honey in the finish. aroma is much of the same."
3.3 12oz bottle. Appearance is clear pale golden with a small white foam cap that dissipated quickly. Aroma is a bit of bready and caramel malt with a noticeable sweet honey. Taste is rich caramel malt that leads into sweet honey. Hop bitterness is just enough to balance the sweet caramel and honey. Mouthfeel is medium with a low to medium carbonation. Finishes on the malty side with no lingering bitterness. Overall, this has the rich caramel character of a bock, but maybe lacking the hop punch of a true maibock.
3.3 Pours amber with a thick, frothy, white head, continuous bubbles rising if various sizes. Blotchy lacing. Nose is typical lager yeast; a bit musty. Taste matches. More on the sweet side, but the hop comes through nicely. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Tasty brew.
3.7 12 ounce bottle poured into a New Glarus Pilsener glass. Pours perfectly translucent gold with a big, rocky white head of foam and lots of bubbles floating through the beer. The aroma has grains, lemon, pear, some bubblegum. The taste is sort of like candied ginger and lemon candy. A little bit bready as well. More sweet than anything else. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nicely balanced and easy drinking.
3.1 A pretty nice, easy drinking bock beer. The honey comes through on the palate nicely. Finishes slightly sweet.
3.9 Golden orange, clear, small white head. Sweet molasses nose, some grass. Little bit of citrus. Initial sweetness, some small amount of bitterness. Long finish, relatively effervescent, lighter body. Incredibly well balanced, fantastic beer.
