Copper Kettle Weiss is designed in the traditional style of a dark wheat beer. Rich malt flavors are accentuated through our complicated decoction mash and finally balanced with select Hallertau hops.

1.4Bottle in trade from IowaHerkeye. Thanks!
Pours amber with tons of floaties suspended throughout the beer. Fizzy white head. Smell is bright and off, like the beginning of an infection, perhaps. Otherwise, caramel and some wheat. Taste is oxidized, metallic and caramelly wheat. Overly fizzy body. Not very good.
4.6bottle. poured a little darker than most hefes, not dunkel dark. xcellent head with orange and banana scent, do i smell brown sugar? anyway, this brew comes alive in my mouth, made my taste buds sing. smooth getaway, but not too quick, with a nutty flavor. one of the best weiss beers i have ever tasted!
3.1About a 1 inch thick head of medium sized bubbles. Interesting aroma with some oranges, cauliflower, wheat and corn. Some sweet malts also. Color is a cloudy dark orange. Lively in the mouth with some roasty notes. Sweet malts and some grainy feeling on the palate. More vegetal notes. Finishes sweet malty and a bit dry. I am indifferent to this brew.
3.5Pours with a cloudy, amber body topped by a thick, off-white head with some lacing left behind. The flavor and aroma are subtle with sweet, malty notes and a hint of banana yeast notes. Not much else to it. Light to medium bodied and smooth.
3.7This was lighter than what i expected for a dunkel, but very tastey nonetheless. Pours a hazey, clouded orange body with a pleasent fruity aroma. Well balanced, not overly malty with a smooth crisp sweet finish.
3.0I accidently poured the gunk in so it’s amber honey with a bit of dark sludge floating. The head throws itself high into the air filling my tall pillsener glass. Aromas of sweet and sour sauce. Full nectar with mild yet ample carbonation. Rich and malty with sweet aged citrus, medicine, tropicals like kiwi, wood, and nectarines. The finish is long with lingering sweetness and a bit of acidity.
3.212oz bottle. Light copper color. Sweet aroma of bananas. Flavor is light and airy (like an angel food cake). Straight up, balanced. No major characteristics. Just an easy drinker.
3.8On tap and 12 oz. bottle. Beautiful copper color. Head is smaller and light tan. Aroma has wheat, banana and hop. Slight metallic note (from the copper vessels) Flavor is includes spicy notes (clove?), wheat and carmel malt character. But also a toasted finish. Has very unique character all it’s own. NGB, please bring this back in 08.
3.6Bottle. Dark / golden orange colour with a white head. Aroma is alcohol, orange, hop. Flavour is fizzy, orange, hop, malt. nice beer.
2.9Pours slightly hazy copper color with slightly off white head. Aroma is banana, clove, wheat, and some grassy hops. Flavor is wheat, clove, and a mild bitter grassy hop finish.
3.712oz from trade a ways back. 3rd New glarus 12oz of the night. Shared with my gf Cyn. Pours dark orange with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is sweet and nice well rounded. Taste is very nice, sweet, with notes of honey, and other nice flavors. Very good brew for a domestic interpretation of the style, and a style that I don’t see all that often in the US.
3.5[Bottle, thanks go to Brewfiend for sharing this, I believe] Pours hazy orange with an off-white head. Aroma is smoky malt, some banana and vanilla. Taste is roughly the same. Medium mouthfeel. A solid beer, but compared to some of NG’s wheat beers this wasn’t my favorite.
3.4Bottle. Pours a hazy, orange-golden body, with a dense, white head. Strange nose, but I like it, with umami and sea-salt. Sweet, pale-malty flavor with a little sour touch and wheat. Medium body, quite effervescent. Sweet, umami finish. Nice, strange and complex. (080118)
2.8Bottle. Orange body with a short off-white head. Aroma is fruity like peaches. Flavor is a bit fruity with some caramel malt and bitter. This might be some kind of complex to a certain level, but not really a great beer.
3.8Pours a hazy shade dark orange with fluffy off white head and excellent lacing. Wonderful aroma similar to that of bananas foster. Malts, banana bread and carmel upfront with a nice toasty finish
3.4Aroma is bananas, bread and wheat.
Flavor of spice and toasty malts with a nice lightly bitter spicey finish.
3.712oz bottle. Nice nose of caramelized bananas and clove, with a strong resemblance to weizenbock, but with more of a biscuit malt presence. Phenols are quite heavy, and the banana and wheat is almost perfume-like at times. Light nuts along with wheat, then a warming of the throat as it turns to a toasted grain flavored finish. Very good stuff.
3.812oz bottle courtesy of Monger. Thanks James! Pours out a very nice looking caramel brown body with an immense, 3+ finger cream colored head. Fades fairly quickly but leaves a nice thick layer of soapy looking foam. Some sloppy lacing is apparent as well. Tons of carbonation bubbles running through this thing. Nose of caramel apples, sweet malts, yeast, dough, flowery hops and clove. Fore is banana, wheat, clove, white pepper, dough, caramel and some hop bitterness, but mostly in the very background and very soft. Caramel and clove dominate the back end, along with some very nice pear and banana notes. Medium astringency, high carbonation, as expected from the appearance. Almost feels like drinking a Sprite or other similar fizzy beverage. Medium bodied, slightly sticky and slick. Finish is short-medium in length, wheat, clove, banana and spice, with a backing bitterness that adds to everything. The bitterness is only apparent in the very back of your throat, welling up with each sip. Very well done, but I expect that from this brewery, one of the best on Earth.
3.812 oz bottle. Poured copper color with large white head. Well carbonated. Aroma of yeasty bread, and a hint of lemongrass. Flavors are bread, and earthy, but finishes sweet. Not bad.
3.2Pours a huge white head. Very clear. Nice copper color. Nice soft banana flavor. Enough maltiness to balance well. I am not a fan of wheat beer, but this is nice. Nice clean finish. Thanks to Bockyhorsey!!
3.7bottle from hopdog. pours a hazy copper iced tea color with a lacy off white head which takes its time getting back into the glass. aromas of bananas, melon?, caramel, bread and black pepper. flavor is cinnamon, creamy caramel malts, banana and some chocolate notes. crisp almost acidic finish. leaves behind a banana-like aftertaste. medium bodied with lively carbonation. the warmer it gets the better it gets...
3.7All I had to do was pop the cap to reaffirm a belief that noone in this country knows wheat beers like Dan Carey. A small, rocky and creamy off-white head forms after the pour, thin lacing sticking as it very slowly subsides. The body is a cloudy dark orange with earthy rust-brown hues. The aroma is loaded with lightly toasted German malts, cloves, fruity esters, banana creme pie, mild vanilla and cinnamon spice hints, light caramel and very mild alcohol. The flavor is spicy from yeast and rampant clove notes. Banana is highly sweet, as is the overall flavor from start to finish. This is not a detractor, but it is unexpected - a very sweet and robust interpretation of the style is exactly what I’d expect from this inventive brewer. Malt is layered and fresh. Bitterness is very low and acidity is low. Hop bitterness is higher than a typical representation of the style, refreshing, and surmounting the sweetness with a peak of bitterness that leads each taste away from the tongue and cleanses the palate on the way down. The finish is slowly drying and spicy, wheat and banana esters lingering for a medium duration. The mouthfeel is slick, well carbonated, light-medium to medium bodied and slightly prickly. Very good.
3.7Courtesy of boboski. Poured a hazy brownish orange color, very light head gracefully dancing upon the surface. Aroma is a bit doughy, some yeastiness. There is a touch of spiciness, almost a peppercorn note, maybe cardomom. Flavor is robust, with a touch of grain like sweetness. A bit "spritzy", in a good way.
3.8Bottle form bockyhorsey and his wife, two fine folks from Arizona! Pour was hazy orange (lighter than expected) with a head that was carbonated but not looking stellar and robust like many a dunkelweizen true to the style. The disappointment, however, ended there, as the aroma jumped out of the bottle, rich fruity esters, a touch of cloves, and gentle caramel aspects. Flavor followed suit, nice hearty bananas, cloves, light caramel (no roast at all), finishing with a little touch of hops to keep it seemingly crisp. Mouthfeel was a touch light for a dunkel, but certainly within the normal range, very nice. Thanks, Bill and Wendy, a nice treat!
3.2Bottle poured a cloudy copper color with decent off white head. Aroma was yeast with caramel and wheat. Flavor was rich and full of malt with a nice hop balance. Some fruity notes from the yeast start coming out in the end.
3.8Bottle and served in my smaller Ayinger glass: Pour a hazed copper hue with a large fluffy head and left very good lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of banana, lemon, pepper and clove esters along with wheat and pale malts. There is just a hint of herbal hops as found on the nose. Not much dunkel character in appearance nor aroma. The taste pretty much follows suit with lots of fruity tones over layers of wheat and biscuity malts with a spicy finish. Again, this has little dunkel character but is a fine Hefeweizen. The mouth feel is lively and refreshing with a touch of metallic notes on the finish. A fine beer but yet another Hefeweizen placed into the wrong style.

2.8Beautiful coppery orange pour with a thick head. The aroma is of wheat and malt with a peppery undertone. The taste was metallic and a bit harsh. The flavors where covered by an odd taste that I can’t describe. This could be due to riding 10 hours in a car from Minnesota without proper refrigeration (in August). I will have to try again later (next time I am up north) and rerate.
3.5Pours a dark orange color with a white head that does retain, but not as well as other wheat beers. Aroma of clove, spice, orange peel, and cardamom seed. Taste begins almost spicy and cola-like, followed up by wood-y clove flavors. Highly carbonated with a medium body. Drinkability is OK, perhaps this one is just past its prime, I’ll try it again next time around.
3.6(Bottle via trade with CaptainCougar, thanks Tom!) Banana and pepper...Pours cloudy yellowish amber with the requisite enormous off white head in my Paulaner weizen glass. Aroma of strong banana and a bit of clove. Mouthfeel medium-full, quite smooth (bordering on silky). Lots of rather sloppy lacing. Flavor is mostly banana with overtones of pepper and clove. A nice beer and pretty much dead-on for style.
