100% Wisconsin malt of six different varieties impart the natural toasted color to the bottle conditioned unfiltered ale. Clean hazelnut notes result from these carefully chosen barley malts. Hops from Slovenia, Bavaria and the Pacific Northwest give Fat Squirrel its backbone.

3.7About as nice an ale as I've had. Simple, nutty, malty and pleasantly sweet with slight bitterness at the end. Perfectly balanced and easy to drink.
3.1Super tasty brown. Light. Subtly, very subtly tart. Pecans or hazelnuts? Thx jackl.
3.5Pours a clear orange/brown color with a tan head. The smell is toasted malt, spice, brown bread, caramel. The taste is caramel, toasted malt, it is dry, herbal and spicy with some fruitiness on the end. Light/medium in body with average carbonation. Nice cold weather beer...
3.3Bottle. Brown with a tan head. The aroma was nutty malt while the flavor was the same with some hints of caramel. It was fairly well balanced.
4.2A very enjoyable beer. I’m not sure I’d call it hazelnut. It has a nice brown color and strong malt aroma. I found a noticable alcohol flavor on the finish and wondered at the strength. Would be great with shepherds pie or beef stew.
3.2Not really impressed by this beer. Malty with a weird yeast fuzziness. Toast and carbonation. Thin on the tongue. I have to say in general pretty disappointing.
4.2Poured from a 12oz brown bottle into a Newcastle schooner glass (infinitely better beer than Newcastle, by the way), a reddish brown colour with creamy beige foam, lasting with lace. Exquisite aromas of malt, brown bread, fruitcake, earthy/flowery English hops. Dried apricots and cranberries. Flavour was similar, even maltier, nice aromatic toasty complexity (go Victory malt!), not especially roasty, cacao nibs, and mild coffee, more tart stone fruit reminiscent of top-cropped, open-fermented Yorkshire ale yeast esters, great Fuggly balance. Medium body and carbonation, lingering multi-layered aftertaste. Crazy delicious, an especially great example of a great style. Too bad these are only sold in Wisconsin, I could drink it everyday. Thanks Andy!
2.9Bottle from variety pack. Pours a light reddish brown, minimal head. Huge aromas of malt and hazelnuts. Very thin on the palate. Nothing special.
3.4A lighter version of a typical craft brown. Nice mild malts. Not too much mouthfeel. Toffee notes in aroma and flavor.
3.1Bottle. Dark ruby-brown with thick light tan head and substantial lacing. Malt aroma. Light toasted biscuit upfront with caramel notes in the finish. Lighter body of than expected.
3.1Pours a hazy reddish-brown with an average white fizzy head. Very mild nutty malt aroma. Taste was nutty. Not great but a decent, enjoyable beer.
3.7Bottle pours root beer color with thin, quickly dissipated head. Sarsaparilla and chicory on the nose, finishes soft with low bitterness. Overall, okay, just a little under carbonated.
3.6Decent brown lean not much aroma but not really expected so. Some malts some wood. Flavor is good mouth is lean. No distractions. Good drinking beer.
1.8Look: pours a dark brown. White head. Very clear.
Smell: heavy malt. Hazelnut. Pecan.
Taste:
3.1Tasted on 1/3/12 from a capped 12oz bottle. Pours clear copper brown with a thin white head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is lightly nutty with a hint of coffee and a soapy aroma. The flavor is nutty chocolate malt with some green bitterness and a metallic flavor. The body is medium with average carbonation and an average nutty chocolate finish.
4.0I’m a bit bias on this beer. I’m an absolutely huge fan of new glarus. This beer is a bit nutty but a classic smooth new glarus taste i’ve come to appreciate. always a treat when i can drink this.
3.1Smells like your standard brown ale. Looks wonderfully brown with a light head on it. Good sweet malt flavor coupled with a slight bitter. Biscuit hits the nose after the swallow. Medium bodied with average carbonation, sits well with me!
3.612 oz bottle pours brown with a off white head. Aroma of malts, nutty and biscuits. Taste is roasted malts and nutty.
3.712 oz. bottle pours a dark reddish/brown with small beige head that stays as a ring and leaves spots of lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, brown sugar, and hazelnut. Taste is slightly sweet with a slightly nutty finish and almost spicy aftertaste. Body is medium without much carbonation. Mouthfeel is almost creamy. Very satisfying. and it gets better as it warms up a bit.
4.3Really good full bodied dark beer definately nutty, but not overpowering, light aftertaste - best that New Glarus makes IMHO.
3.6On tap, poured into a sampler glass. Aromatics of sugary, warm baking spices, and fruits come out first, then turn more malty and roasted by mid sample. It pours a clear, oily orange brown with an off-white, foamy head that retains a medium ring with a light web surface, and leaves behind a snowy lace on the glass. Medium sweet and bitter balance out the taste of this beer. It’s smooth, with an almost creamy carbonation, and a medium light body containing notes of roasted nuts. As it warms the palate picks up more caramel. It finishes dry and spicy with a mildly astringent and toasted bread aftertaste that mellows quickly. After an extended period, the aftertaste comes through as a light spiciness.
3.612oz bottle. Light brown pour. Nice nutty aroma with a touch of sweet. Light nutty flavor. Tasty.
3.7December 27, 2014. Bottle at home, bottled october 3, 2014.
Brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is caramel, nuts and hints of coffee. Taste is medium sweet with caramel, light dark and dried fruits, some nutty notes in the finish with a light roasted bitterness. Medium bodied, average carbonation.
3.3Bottle from brewery. Clean brown. Off white. Sweet, tootsie roll nose. Mild tobacco. Taste is similar. Medium body. Easy drinking.
3.2Bottle. Brown pour with a small white head. Aromas of roasted malts with nutty/biscuit notes. Flavor is similar. Malty and easy to drink. Nice brown ale.
3.2"poured light for a brown ale. mahogony. smelled of pleasant sweet malt and nuts. nice malt profile in the nose and flavor. clean hazelnut flavor. not as "stand up and take notice" as say, a Rogue Hazelnut brown, but above average with a smooth finish."
3.3Thanks to HisBoyElroy on the split. This beer pours a very dark red color with minimal head. It has a fresh light hop aroma. Not a whole ton of flavor. A bit of a copper hop note with a refreshing quenching flavor. A slight amber flavor. Average beer here to me yet unique.
3.312 oz bottle: Pours chestnut brown with a nice tan head and ample CO2 release. Aroma of nutty toasted malts with a hint of cheap American lager that kills the warm nuttyness. Taste is good roasted malts, nothing too fancy or overpowering. Palate is a little harsh but ultimately goes down smooth. Pretty good overall.

落ち着いた味で、飲みやすくパンチもある
3.4Pours a clear, copper color, with a generous, tan head that faded fast. Sparse lacing. The nose is toasted grain and caramel, malt, and notes of nuts and a mild hop bite. The flavor is mildly sweet. Medium bodied brew with lively carbonation. Very nice!
