New Glarus Home Town Blonde

New Glarus Home Town Blonde

Embrace a classic! Home Town Blonde is an old world style pilsner, assertively hopped with four premium hop varieties. Tettninger, Saaz, Styrian Golding and Strisselspalt varieties all grace this German-style brew with the complex character you enjoy in a classic pilsner.

Expect to pour an elegant blonde glass of beer, crowned with a rich head of foam that resonates with our chorus of hops. Although delicate in appearance, our Hometown Blonde has a backbone, but of course that’s no surprise in Wisconsin.

Enjoy!

3.6 Clean gold pour. Lemon curd and preserved lemon nose. Highly acidic and inlaid with tarragon and wondrous minerals. Biscuit malt and white crackers compose the clean flavor; tangerine and citrus zest outline prescient hop tones. Classic palate that manages crisp texture and soft intangibles together. An excellent example, though name recognition and reputation is certainly involved here.
3.7 Bottle. Pours golden with white head. Nose has biscuits, aromatic floral notes of noble hops. Soft carbonation and some mineral texture in the palate. Very clean and balanced flavor profile - breadiness, light herbal notes, just a touch of bitterness in the finish. Excellent German-style pilsner - perhaps the best US rendition I’ve had.

3.7 Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear yellow pour with white head, aroma brought notes of biscuit, bread, lemon, some grass, spice, ncie vanilla, earthy tones in there. Taste is a mix of grassy, earthy, doughy yeast, some bread, biscuit, vanilla, touch of herbs, finishing bitter, dry. Tasty and chuggable, NGs specialty.
3.8 Sample pour at the Great Taste of the Midwest. Served out of a cool looking upright barrel cask thing by Dan Cary himself. Clear yellow pour with a white head. Nice crisp old school hop profile. Refreshing!
3.0 Pours a nice clear golden color with white head. Come floral notes on the aroma, with grass and citrus on the palate. Not overly complex.
3.5 Bottle:   Bright straw yet hazy, small to moderate white frothy head, spotty lacing.   Clean straw/hay on the nose.   A little grassy.   Much the same on the tongue.   Light dryness.   Very smooth and clean, albeit very light too.   I suppose that’s to be expected.   If this is a spring seasonal, its amazing how well it held up.   Tastes fresh.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   A little wheaty profile on the exit, lingering straw and hay.   Touch of sweetness too.   Very simple, clean, and well made.   Thanks Bob!
3.2 12 oz bottle served in a COAST brewing curved pint. Split with the fiancee. A: Pours a solid gold color with a pure white head forming on pour. It recedes slowly to a thick cap with tons of sticky lace. S: Sticky German hops with that specific spicy bite. Pale malts with a little bit of mineral-like qualities to it. T: Typical German hop profile, slightly gluey with pale cracker malt and some wheat like qualities. Lightly spiced hop quality as well. M: Light bodied with a medium high carbonation level. Slightly sweet finish. O: Pretty typical German style lager. The hops are the star which is standard for the style. Nothing mind blowing. Serving type: bottle
3.1 12 oz. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, white head, with some lacing, over a slightly hazy dark yellow (SRM 4) body......nose is slightly sweet, with hints of apple, pear, light cereal....taste is slightly sweet, with hints of pear, apple, finishing with a moderate hop bitterness.....mouth feel light of medium, carbonation high. This is a sweet Pilsner. I wonder if they got the attenuation they wanted. The finishing taste is muddled, and not crisp and clean. BJCP 7/3/12/4/6
3.6 12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a lightly cloudy dark gold with a half finger of white head. Aroma is mostly grass and hay with just a hint of citrus. Taste is light bitter. Grassy and herbal. Light bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not too bad. Not one of my favorites but very drinkable.
3.9 Big fluffy head, great lacing. Slight hops nose. Nice balanced beer with good hops some sweetness and slight dry bitter finish. Tasty
3.6 Golden yellow. Medium fluffy white head with great retention. lots of sticky lace. Steady carbonation. Aroma of hops, malt, corn, maybe a bit of lemon. Slightly sweet. Light to Medium bodied - full flavor. Hay, Peppery, earthy hoppy, some bitterness in finish. Rounded flavor.

4.2 Another solid beer from New Glarus. Tried this with Josh in KC after his trip to WI in 2013. Light yellow and nearly transparent (as long as you don’t get the sediment. Relatively dry with a thicker body than Belgian style blondes.
4.4 12 oz bottle - pours lemon yellow. Thin head, aroma lemon and hops. Nice full body - good balance, nice use of hops. Another winner from New Glarus.
3.6 Bottle. Pours a pale yellow with a thin head. Flavor is pale malts, clean hop finish. Soft bodied and rich. New Glarus never disappoints, they take a traditionally boring style and make it into a solid session brew. Delicious!
3.6 Pours pale golden with some white frothy head fading to a large ring. Nose is rich sweet maltiness blended with flowery and spicy hops. Flavor is spicy punch hops and sticky rich bready malt flavors. Medium dry finish with a ample bitterness and medium body.
3.8 Really solid pils. Good hops, very refined. I still prefer a good ale, but this is delicious and refreshing.
3.5 Golden with frothy white head. Nice lacing. Lemon, floral, mild citrus, and mild cereal, malt aroma. Full bodied pilsner, flavor like aroma, and lite lemony finish. Great balance, decent tongue zing, and medium hop finish.
3.8 Fresh bottle. Aroma of fresh cut grass, bright peach skin, crisp cracker malts. Taste is fresh dough, hay, foggy air. Clean, reshing tasty beer. Like quite a bit.
3.4 Picked this up after it won a GABF 2012 award. I’ve successfully gotten people who previously would only drink Miller Lite to start loving this stuff.
3.9 It’s been a while since I’ve rated but I’ve got three weeks to gorge in Wisconsin so here goes. Ar. Honey, grassy hops aroma. Ap. slightly foggy, not crystal clear by any means. Small head dissipates quickly. T. Lightly sweet bready, biscuit and moderate bitterness on finish. P. lightish sparkly body. Nice. Rally really nice pilsner.
3.5 Very tasty beer here. Well done Dan. Probably one of my favorites from them, especially from their sixers. Really wonderful saaz character with great maltiness to compliment. Keep this one! vote it in!
3.9 12oz bottle, thanks nuplastikk. Medium white head atop clear apple juice body. Aroma is medium sweet, fresh bread, some spicy, corn, light lemon. Taste is medium sweet, grass, bread, some spicy. Light body, some prickliness on the tongue, nicely drinkable.
3.2 Pale golden body with a thick, clinging white head. The aroma is light but inviting. Biscuit, hops, and spice. Smooth mouthfeel with nice carbonation towards the end. Flavor is good if not exciting. Semi-sweet up front with cracker and biscuit notes. It finishes with a decent hoppy bite. Another good beer from New Glarus.
3.5 Bottle thanks to 17thfloor. Pours a light clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is bready, cracker, biscuit, nice spicy herbal hop character, crisp and clean. Flavor starts crisp and cracker, a touch doughy and honey, Malty all around and a soft clean finish with a touch of hoppiness. Medium body and a sharp carbonation. Nice for the style.
4.1 355mL thanks to nuplastikk. Pours low carbonation clear golden. Denser white head. Soapy lacing. Nose is raw grain, honey, grassy hops, clean malty lager. Taste is snappy, crackery, honey, grassy. Sweeter, clean malty. Very soft and classic malt showcase. Very delicious session lager. Palate is amazing- quenching, soft, dense for the style. Loves
3.9 12 ounce bottle thanks to cbfobes. Thanks! Pours a lighter copper color with a white head of loosely packed foam. The aroma is floral and grassy, with an almost nutty character hidden beneath the pilsnery sweetness. The taste has a nice fruity sweetness with the dry grassyness of the german hops wrapping the beer up with great precision. This is one delicious pilsener. Thanks again, Brandon!
3.6 Courtesy of northernbrews Bottle: The aroma consists of light lemon, honey, bread, and grass. It pours a transparent gold with a small soapy white head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of honey and lemon. The finish has light-moderate hay, grass, floral notes, and light lemon peel. It’s light bodied with moderate carbonation.
3.5 pours a classic gold with a nice lacy head. aroma is slightly skunky, but in a good way. taste and finish meld together with a nice lingering hoppiness in the sinuses. Nice!
