3.4Pretty average ipa. Solid bitterness, and herbal happiness. Caramel sweetness upfront and earthiness on the tail. Meh.
3.7This is a great beer but it is not quit an IPA. Naming it IPA is hurting it. I was hoping for more citrus. If you don’t like IPA’s for their "citrusness" try this beer. I would buy this again because its a great ale not a great IPA.
3.312oz bottle. Rating #570. Dark amber/copper pour with a white head. Mild aroma, very light pine and a little sweet. Mild bitterness, sweet citrus with a little pine. Not bad. (2295)
Note: 6/10
3.4Poured a clear amber orange, with a one-finger off white head. Smells of faint grapefruit, citrus, and a touch of caramel. Taste is very smooth and well-balanced with a light bitter finish. Highly drinkable, but just a mediocre IPA.
3.2Une deuxième New Glarus pour moi.
3.2Pours a clear caramel color with a medium tan head. Aroma has some piney notes and a hint of spicy grapefruit...earthy with faint sweet malty notes. Flavor is slightly nutty and almost has a chocolatey malt note...earthy/spicy hoppiness...tastes more like an ESB. Mouthfeel is a bit light and thin and the finish has roasty malt and good bitterness. A bit boring as an IPA for my tastes.
3.7Bottle through great generosity! Pour has a bright amber color and a thin covering of white fizzy head. Aroma has citrus rind, caramel malt, mild sweetness, and nice dry hops. Mouth feel is light and the carbonation is not too strong. Flavor has more bitterness, some pines, enough malt to keep it balanced, and a finish that goes for dry. Quite enjoyed this and even though it is not a kick in the teeth it has nice hop combinations.
3.2Hops hops hops. If you like hops, this is amazing, if you don’t, pass. Great color, but since I’m not a hop head, I will pass from now on.
3.9Bottle at home, brought back from Casanova’s in Wisconsin. Pours clear orange, thin off-white head, fine lacing. Nose is spicy juniper and nettle, with a hint of tea, stonefruit, miscellaneous citrus, and some toasty caramel further down. Flavours of big caramel, with spicy, tingly hops all down the sides of my tongue. Really nice grass, light citrus, and grapefruit syrup flavours, with an overall spicy, tea-like impression. Very different from what I was expecting, but thoroughly pleasant.
2.3Good feel, nice, ample carbonation. Aftertaste lingers for a little bit, hop oils coating the mouth nicely.best ipa I’ve tasted yet
3.2Bottle. Pours clear amber with off white head. Nose/taste of caramel malt, barley, grain, citrus, light resin and hops. Dry finish. Slightly bitter. Body on the lighter side of medium.
3.012 ounce bottle. This is a thin IPA. The aroma is of bready malts, floral/earthy hops. The flavor is more of the same. I do not know the age of this beer so it may be older. No noticeable flaws other then the lack of hops and the thin body.
3.9Pours a semi-cloudy medium copper with a decent off white head. Decent lacing. Aroma is malt, hops and slight citrus. The taste is bright and hoppy, subtle citrus. Not as citrusy as Moon Man (another NG beer I enjoy). Nice long hoppy finish with a pleasant linger. This one further confirms my love for APA’s and IPA’s. My favorite thus far from New Glarus!
3.7Parfum relativement léger de houblons terreux, sapiné avec un fini moyennement sec. Excellente buvabilité.
3.7Bottle @ home, courtesy of kbutler1. Thanks again, Kevin! A touch hazy, a little brownish, dark orange appearance with a big, cream colored head. Very nice, orange/grapefruit citrusy, slightly earthy hoppy, a little bit toasty malty aroma. Moderately bitter, orange, grapefruity citrus hoppy, toasted malty, a touch resiny flavor. Overall, a pretty nice IPA.
3.5Bottle, pours dark, slightly hazy orange. I get English hops in a big way on the nose, with a bit of orange and...kumquat maybe? Resinous, astringent. Bitter taste, hops and citrus peel. Hint of juniper. Not great, but pretty solid.
3.4Bottle pours deep amber with a khaki head. Aroma is sweet caramel and fresh citrus hops. Flavor shows the same with a hint of peach, pine, and some definite earthiness. Overall body is moderate and the finish
is moderately bitter and dry.
3.612oz bottle pours a bright amber with a small khaki head. Aroma of pine, citrus, mango, hop spice, and caramel. Taste has a nice earthiness in the malt, caramel and bready, balanced nicely with hop spice, sweet fruits also. Enjoyable and drinkable.
3.7Light floral hop aroma. Honey-orange colored with flavors of citrus hops, lemon, honey, and sweet malts. Very drinkable and the texture is velvety and crisp.
3.4Slightly piney aroma and flavor. Overall, a well-balanced IPA.Appearance is a hazy, amber with good, lasting head and nice lacing.Definitely would buy again.
3.6Bottle from my local Wal-Mart. Pours a clear copper-orange with many below surface bubbles and a large off-white foamy head. Terrific wedding dress lacing! Aroma has pine and fresh mown grass and resin. Taste brings some pine, then a mass of sweet caramel malt. Some lemon zest adding bitterness. Finishes somewhat long, with mostly a thicker malt presence, and a touch of bitter. Dan can do hops - their IIPA was very hop forward, but with this one he is sticking with the heavy malt presence. I would love the aroma to have followed into the flavor; that would be a great ipa!
3.5An orange amber IPA with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet piney hops, menthol, light papaya pulp and tropical fruits. In mouth, a smooth piney hops with menthol coolness, herbal and refreshing, very nice and well balanced. On tap at Istmus Beer and Cheese Fest, Jan 21 2012.
3.312 oz bottle. Pours clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma is a pretty nice pine and citrus mix with some florals in it. Flavor has a strong toasty biscuit to it, backed by hoppy citrus, floral, grassy flavors. I have to say, the biscuit tastes a little stale and isn’t my favorite here. This is just okay.
3.9Bottle Courtesy of Brewger, Loved it. Very drinkable IPA. Aroma was very fruity with citrus and berries. The flavor was also lightly sweet with a clean finish that left me wanting to take another sip.
4.0big fruity citrusy ipa. A tasty malt sweetness really balances this one here. Nothing but impressed by new glarus
3.6Thanks ughsmash. Pours soft copper amber with one finger of white head. Nose is nicely hopped, presents a very forward and clean hop aroma without being overly assertive. Floral and citrusy with some resin and caramely sweetness. Well balanced flavor, hop character is present and well defined but not tongue scraping. Lightly citrusy with some zest and resin and a light showing of pine. Medium body with a soft carbonation and a very light bitterness.
4.1Purchased at Breeze Thru Wine & Spirits in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed on Friday the 13th before hanging out with a good friend. Appearance is a pretty clear brownish amber with a thin white head that rims around the glass. Aroma is a fantastic balance between citrus and grassy, very light amount of yeast/malt in the back end, smells pretty good. Taste is very good, not as hoppy as some other IPA’s out there, but done very well with a good citrus bitterness. It’s a very clean IPA, considering New Glarus’ other clean repertoire, I’d say this is great. Well done!
3.612oz bottle. Pours a deep, yellowish amber with a one finger of off white head, that receeds to a thin rim. Aroma is full of citrus and grass with an earthy hop aroma. Big caramel malt flavor mixed in with a bunch of citrus fruits. A decent amount of malts even out all the floral hops. A very enjoyable beer.
3.9Aroma: spicy, earthy hops, slightly floral, some citrus, toasty and caramel malts. Pours a clear copper color, thick, fluffy off-white head with great retention and lots of soapy lacing. Flavor: lots of earthy hops, spicy, bitterness is fairly low for the style, some grapefruit. Big malt backbone - lots of toast, bready, some caramel, nice and malty with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation. Very nice.
