In playful pursuit of butterflies a Red Fox danced across the brewery hill. His joy so pure it bubbled through our hearts and into this beer. Laughing Fox is a sparkling Kristal Weizen brewed in the Bavarian tradition with 50% Wisconsin wheat in our open top fermenters. Tickle your nose notes of spicy clove and cinnamon abound. Dan’s inspired Weizen interpretation reflects the deep bittersweet color of our Fox’s red coat.
Expect this beer to pour a lively effervescent glass thick with creamy foam and bursting with luscious fruity notes on your pallet. This is easy drinking beer perfect for a friendly Wisconsin evening. Relax, this is God’s Country, here we have the strength to reach for the stars and change the world.

3.8One of my less favorite New Glarus brews. Not much wheat character, not all that refreshing, and just kind of disorganized. I’ll stick with Dancing Man.
3.4Bottle. Thanks to adnielsen for sharing. Pours an amber color with off white head. Caramel, spicy, cinnamon, light wheat and banana flavors. Thanks Aaron for this beer!
4.6A beautiful copper red pour with nice carbonation. Great flavors of spice and wheat and fruit. Look forward to this one each fall.
3.4Representation of a German beer . Close and cinnamon present in the palate. Smooth easy drinking not overly carbonated. Overall, definitely a beer worth transporting from Wisconsin to Colorado
3.1pours pure copper. nice lacey persistent head. aroma has some cinnamon and biscuits. nice clean taste and finish. Good beer.
4.0My first of this style. Got from a trade. Pours a deep orange red with large creamy head that has just a hint of orange color to it. Aroma is strong pears, wheatiness, funky yeast, banana. Very nice. Light mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Tastes like biting into a fresh pear. Hints of cinnamon that do not overpower, but supplement the beer. Not overly sweet at all. Not even close to "too sweet." nicely balaned brew that one could drink all night.
3.712 ounce bottle. Pours a reddish amber with a nice white head. Aroma of fruit, malt, grain, and spice. Taste is banana, apple, yeast, wheat, cloves, and malt. Very well done!
4.1From a bottle. Clear deep amber color. Flavor is sweet fruit and toasted bread. Nice balance. Clean and light but complex enough to be interesting. Really nice interesting beer.
4.0Reddish amber with frothy whit head. Banana most distinct on nose with some lemon. Very enjoyable beer...one of NG best.
3.8Clove, banana and light fruits. Super smooth and creamy. Wish it was summer and I had about 6 more of these.
3.8Pours a deep red amber, and clear for a wizen, with a creamy, slightly off white head. This beer has a strong aroma, with the clove and banana coming from the yeast, and strong notes of cinnamon. The taste is sweet malt with hints of cinnamon up front, with the spicy tartness of a saison on the finish. As the beer warms the tartness becomes more pronounced, leaving a balanced and dry finish. Body is heavier than it looks due to the wheat.
3.312oz bottle from an inperson trade with mnmike, a kristallweizen from one of my favorite brewers, sure why not a crisp malty taste is quite nice, i’m not finding any spicy clove, but certainly a clove taste, no cinnamon though the color looks it. pretty tasty
3.512oz bottle (courtesy of Headbanger) poured into a Weizen glass at 42°. Color is a deep honey with light carbonation and a rocky white head. Aroma is sweet with crystal malt and yeast. It has a lighter body with a creamy mouth feel. Flavor is slightly sweet with caramel, a hint of clove, tart apple and a bit of yeast. Aftertaste is slightly dry from the tart with the yeast giving a bread note. Overall its a great Kristallweizen.
4.3Pours an amber orange color with a fluffy white head. Scent is full of wheat with a slight bitter scent mixed with bananas. The taste has a similar taste that reminds me of biting into an apple. I know there is a lot of wheat to this beer but I’m getting more apple tasting hints. This is a smooth, tasty brew that is a great drink for the fall harvest weather.
4.2Pours hazy yellow, with crisp head. Aroma is banana, lemon, and hint of cloves. Starts sweet bananas and ends dry cloves. Lovely beer.
3.4Aroma of banana, cloves, a touch of sour. Copper colour with nice foamy white head. Taste is sweet banana, a bit of spices, doesn’t linger super long, nor is it particularly intense. A solid kristallweizen.
3.9Pours an awesome butterscotch colour with soft white head. Awesome banana aromas and some clove too. Sweet. Tastes like bananas, and wheat. Finish isn’t too bitter...just a great bevearge.
3.412oz bottle. Clear amber pour with a light white head. Some lacing. Nose is banana and brown sugar. Sort of a weird hefe/dubbel taste to me. One of the few NG beers I haven’t been all over.
3.412 ounce bottle pour. $7.49 per 6 pack. Very similar to Back 40 Bock. Average german-like-style beer.
3.1Pours medium amber. head lingers. Nose is bananas, sweet bread, peanut butter, strong bubblegum. Flavor is complex fruitiness, light vanilla, and again bubblegum. Crisp finish, dry and low bitterness.
3.1Generous banana aroma, esters, lightly yeasty. Sweet. Big head, ruby amber color, clear. Frothy, but limp at the end, and thin flavor. Disappointing. Bottle.
2.6Shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike.
The beer is dark golden colored with a lasting white head. Too dark for the style. The aroma is similar to a dunkel weizen, with wheat and some dark fruit presence. A bit sweet and malty. I would prefer a lighter color and body, with less malt presence. Not what I look for in a beer of this style. Overall, this was just ok.

4.1Aroma of pepper, beechwood; impressions of clove, light cinnamon and banana. Appearance is translucent chestnut brown with bubbly tan head. Flavor matches the nose; the clove and banana are predominant; the finish is slightly peppery with some sweet gum. The body is medium/full, the texture is sticky and the carbonation is soft. Awesome.
4.3This may be my first Kristallweizen. A filtered Hefeweizen, but it still retains all the best flavors.
3.112oz bottle shared by durhambeer - thanks, Bob! Faintly clouded amber pour, with gold tints peeking through. Medium, crisp carbonation. Don’t know what I was expecting but was surprised to find the spice and so forth in the nose. Lively, full bodied, but the taste was distractingly close to "holiday" beers. Okay.
3.6Bottle-thanks to a good friend in Southern WI for shipping me some New Glarus stuff! December 2012-pours bright copper hue with a fizzy white head-crystal clear with medium carbonation. nose is bigtime banana and some wet cardboard/cereal notes. maybe a bit on the old side. flavors exhibit sour grains and ripe banana. Very round body here-lots of character however, i think im being a bit generous on the score here. this wasnt a very refreshing beer like it should be and had some off flavors however, I have never had a good krystal weiss before, so its hard to compare it to others.
3.5Traded bottle. Pours way darker than expected when I compare it to the German kristals I’m familiar with; a nice, clear, copper color with a medium tan head. Richer flavor too that is nice since this style can sometimes get bland. Great job.
2.8Fruit, vanilla, dough aroma. Clear amber with foamy off white head. Light bodied. Smooth with a cinnamon spice flavor. Very slight bitterness on the finish.
3.512 oz. bottle. It pours a really nice dark red/copper color (like a fox!) with a large frothy off white head. Very surprising for this style. The aroma is decidedly German weizen yeasty goodness with lots of clove, lighter notes of banana and big bubble gum. Some darker, fruity malts as well. The flavor is pretty much the same. Lots of clove and bubblegum with hints of cinnamon spice and dark bready malts. Light tartness near the finish. The body is very light and highly carbonated. I liked it a lot as a dunkelweizen, too bad I was looking forward to a Kristall.
3.7Bottle:   Coppery amber, reddished hued, clear and vibrant, light carbonation, large foamy off-white head, nice lacing.   Wheaty nose, soft clove and banana.   Wheaty on the tongue, clove and banana, slight bubble gum, also a bit spicy.   Tastes a bit of nutmeg/cinnamon.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Standard wheaty flavors die off rather quickly leaving the spicy notes to linger.   A bit different, darker, a bit more red than usual, and certainly spiced unlike others, but this was still a treat to drink!
