New Glarus Moon Man No Coast Pale Ale

New Glarus Moon Man No Coast Pale Ale

Moon Man is a seriously cool cat. Always comfortable in his own skin, he never tries too hard. So cool we named our "no coast" pale ale after him.

You hold a session beer with a bright bold blend of five hops that flirt obligingly with the smooth malty backside. Don’t let this one lay around it is brewed to be enjoyed today. Bold and engaging without pretense, because in Wisconsin you do not have to be extreme to be real. Just be.

3.7 12oz can at home, trade from Chicago. Pours clear golden-orange with a medium white head with good retention. Mild orange and lemon citrus, biscuity malt, hint of honey, floral hops. Medium carb and body, soft texture. Finish is crisp then leans malty. Very balanced and tasty APA.
2.5 Pours a nice clear yellow with an abundant head. The foam stability is very good. The aroma is clean. The flavor is of strong dry hopping and if you like that, then this is the beer for you. For me, I find the hop oil presence too dominant and out of place. This would have been a great beer without all the green hop taste. I drank one and then went back to something else. That should tell you everything.
3.5 Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Fresh Thyme, Milwaukee. Appearance is clear golden yellow-orange with trace sparkle, 1/2-finger width fizzy off-white head with poor retention and fair leggy lacing. Aroma is strong bready malt bill with mild floral and citrus hops. Taste is strong biscuit, mild citrus, light caramel. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin, frothy texture, lively carbonation (too much--stings the tongue!) and finish as taste with mild lingering bitterness. Overall, an assertive malt-dominant APA that gets points for strength but is not that complex.
4.5 Pale Ale
3.5 Clear gold pour with a white head. It has a light cracker aroma and a light body with crisp, lively carbonation. The taste is mildly bitter with a quick finish.
3.6 Bottle. Poured clear golden color with an average frothy white head that lasted with very good lacing. Moderate hop balanced aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate bittersweet flavor with a moderate bittersweet finish of medium duration. This beer met my expectations.
3.4 12 oz bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a clear golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have pale grainy malts, citrus, grass, herbal, good session pale ale.
3.3 Pour from 12oz bottle. Crystal clear amber brew with white head. Aroma is citrus. Taste is slight malt up front, crisp tangerine quickly emerges and dominates through the finish. Very crisp. Tasty APA.
3.4 12 oz can at Curveball. Clear golden appearance with a lacy white head. Aroma of earthy hops, toasted malt and mild pine. Similar flavor, adding mild bitterness and a light grainy sweetness. Light to medium body with a smooth finish. Not bad, but this can was not too fresh, either.
2.9 surprise hopness light and refreshing not really a fan of New Glarus brews but this one I like
3.1 Pretty good pale ale, pretty hoppy, in fact a little much for me as there’s just not quite enough sweet maltiness to balance it. Pretty average ok beer.
3.8 Orange yellow clear pour with white head. Aroma is sweet citrus. Taste pulls in grain. Nice beer.
4.0 Fantastic. I get crisp notes of citrus, hops and lots of mangos. This is my favorite APA!
3.7 Pours clear golden with low white head. Aroma of citrus, fruit, pine, light malt. Taste is mellow sweet with a mild bitter finish. Light and smooth body with soft carbonation.
3.7 Clear yellow with a white head. Aroma is peaches, grapefruit and light caramel. Tatse is light sweet and light bitter. Palate is light body with average carbonation.
3.7 Floral and crisp up front, picking up a light nutty maltiness on the back of the palate with a dry hop backbone. Medium length, sessionable.
4.0 Can from a friend. Finally getting to try this one after many years. Gold pour with a white head, nose is florals, citrus, lightly bitter and fresh. Smooth palate, flood of citrus up front, florals, light fruit and a clean finish.
4.1 Appearance: honey wheat; slight head Taste: light hops for an IPA 10/21/17 New Glarus Brewery (WI)
4.4 Definitely a good surprise coming out of a can. A great American Pale Ale, with lots of hoppy flavors.
3.6 12oz can. Pours a golden amber with a white head. Very tasty with lots of citrus. I like this.
3.8 12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a nice white head and thin lacing. Aromas of mild citrus hops, bread, and malt. Not very bitter, slightly sweet.
3.2 Tap. Golden amber, creamy golden lace. Mellow earthy berry nose. Medium light body, hay and cracker malt, light oxidation, grassy, peachy, berrylike hops, grassy bitterness on the palate.
4.2 Moderately strong citrus-dominated aroma. Clear pale gold, 1/2 inch thick only slightly off-white head, leaving plenty of lacing. Moderate amount of visible bubbles. Thick and smooth mouth feel for the style. Very slight initial bittering that quickly fades away. The flavor is mostly from the hops, and is a very nice orange juice citrus; not bitter acid citrus like many have. Very mild and smooth contribution from the malts. The aftertaste is juicy orange fading nicely inviting another drink. Absolutely wonderful. This one might cause me to drive to Hudson more often!
3.5 Draught - light gold, not clear, but not cloudy - nice citrus (grapefruit), slightly hoppy, clean finish - personal impression: did not disappoint - good beer
5.0 great beer
3.8 On tap at a wedding in Wisconsin. Very tasty pale ale - really like the hip profile on this pale ale
3.4 Bottle, courtesy Drake. Many thanks! Pours clear gold with a small white head. Aroma is juicy citrus: grapefruit and orange mostly with hints of peel as well. Notes of floral hops too. Flavor is slightly juicy: orange, grapefruit, mango, with a hint of grasses and a pinch of grain. Good.
3.7 12oz bottle left in Cindy’s parents lakehouse fridge: gold pour, sturdy white head. aroma of sweet bready grain. tastes are citrus, cracker, lemon, little tropical, juicy, honey.
4.1 12 oz bottle from a six pack, bought in Superior, WI. Aroma is dough, citrus peel, melon. Pours clear golden with a thick off-white fluffy head with great retention and some lace. Taste is lightly bitter with balancing candy sweetness alongside; a hint of green bud lingering in the finish. A little thinner than I was expecting. Really good.
5.0 One if my two favorite beers. Lunch from maine being the other. Both are great choices.
