Happy Accident Fruit Ale

Severe Drought, we shared the farmer’s horror as Wisconsin’s cherry crop failed! Dan bought what cherries he could. The apple crop fared better. Then joy! A grand Wisconsin cranberry harvest. What will Dan brew with Apples, Cranberries and Cherries? Oh my! You hold the happy accident of Wisconsin’s favorite fruit aged in oak with an almost magical wild fermentation. Serendipity is a wondrous celebration that sparkles your senses and dances across your palate. A kaleidoscope of flavors discovered by accident in a sour ale! Cheers to the unexpected. Vielen Dank!

4.0 Beautiful... slightly tart, fruity, rich but not heavy. This was a bottle acquired in '16 and consumed a year later. Great hard cider nose with cherries and cranberries rounding it out. A lightly effervescent claret-amber in color. Essence of fruits on a subtle ale base. Great sipping weight - not heavy or cloying... Outstanding... bomber shared with Shannon and Vic at Xmas.
4.5 Bottle. A very kind extra received in a trade. Should you happen to read this Mark, thanks very much! Mostly clear, deep, reddy amber colour. Thin, dense, lacing, lasting, just off white head. Nose on this is awesome. It’s like liquified Bakewell tart. Loads of cherry, cherry stone, almond, cranberry, and sweet, caramelised apple. Soft, vanilla oak. Taste is sticky, ripe cherry sweet, with perfectly pitched, tangy sourness. Smooth mouthfeel. Minimal acidity. Soft carbonation. Twangy, cherry and apple to finish. Beautiful.
4.2 Bomber courtesy of Drake. Many thanks!! Pours a pretty red with a soft pinkish-beige head. Amazing aroma: sweet dark cherry, apple, cranberry, slightly floral notes as well. Smells very fresh and fruity. Flavor matches the nose - holy shit. Wonderfully fruity - cherry juice, apple, tart cranberry, apricot, strawberry jam, rose, light earthy wood in the back end. This is amazing.
4.3 750 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear deep ruby red/light copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with awesome retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of huge sweet/juicy red/black cherries, cranberry, plum, red apple, pears, apricot jam, strawberry, caramel, brown sugar, and lightly toasted bread; with light notes of fruit skin, almond, vanilla, oak, funk, and yeast earthiness. Incredible aromas with amazing complexity and balance of fruits, dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light oak notes; with big strength. Taste of huge sweet/juicy red/black cherries, cranberry, plum, red apple, pears, apricot jam, strawberry, caramel, brown sugar, and lightly toasted bread; with light notes of fruit skin, almond, vanilla, oak, funk, and yeast earthiness. Light fruity/acidic tartness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of red/black cherries, cranberry, plum, red apple, pears, apricot jam, strawberry, caramel, brown sugar, bread, fruit skin, almond, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruits, dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light oak flavors; with a great malt and tart/tangy fruit balance, with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness tart/tangy fruit and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, creamy/grainy, and lightly slick/syrupy/acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4%. Overall this is an amazing fruit beer! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruits, dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light oak flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink; with the mellowly acidic/tangy/drying finish. Enormous jammy fruit flavors, balanced malt body, and mild oak/wild yeast character. One of the best standard tasting fruit beers I have ever had. A highly enjoyable offering.
4.5 Pours a cloudy copper brown with a medium, light pink head. The aroma is a bit tart. Just as the bottle advertises, heavy cherry, apple, and cranberry are found, with some milder oak elements to boot. The flavor is sweet and slightly tart. I get the cranberry and cherry standing out most, while the apple flavor used more in support. A little floral, with oak, and hints of vanilla and cranberry round this one out. Long lasting cranberry apple aftertaste. Light in body and with a slick texture. This is so delicious and refreshing I'd happily drink this for breakfast. A must buy.
3.4 At Hopishop 2017. Aroma of lemonade, sugar, raisin and rosehip. Taste has raisin, caramel, rosehip, syrup and sugar. Reminds me of the roosvicee lemonade I got as a child.
4.6 Rating #2600. Wax dipped 750 ml from Keyport Liquor in Superior, WI. Aroma contains all three fruits included, in abundance. Cherries come out first, followed by apples and cranberries. There was a fleeting off-note of metal when I first opened it, but it disappeared quickly. Pours hazy amber with a medium beige head with decent retention. Taste is sour and sweet and is a fruit flavor explosion with every sip. Nothing fake here. It's common knowledge, but it bears repeating: New Glarus does fruit beers like no other. Most other breweries' fruit beers look absolutely ridiculous in comparison. This is the bar and it has been set.
3.5 Great beer!
5.0 tastes like wine
4.1 Bottle into a wineglass showing rust copper with sparse white foam. The nose shows a juicy mix of cranberries, apples, and red cherries. The palate is light bodied and moderately carbonated. Apple forward balanced with cranberry astringency and lightly tart cherries.
3.8 From bottle, shared by Werckmeister, many thanks. Pours copper with a quickly disappearing off-white head. The aroma starts with cherries followed by raspberries, bubble gum and some tart berries in the back. Medium body with a light to medium carbonation, a medium sourness. The flavor is very fruity with cherries, a lot of apple juice, berries. Finishes with a very light hot chili-like sensation, some tartness, some woody qualities and some noticeable alcohol. Very fruity and rich in flavor - nice! Aroma:8 Appearance: 4 Taste: 7 Palate: 4 Overall: 15
4.1 1 pint 9 oz bottle (749ml?) at home shared with Saeglopur, Powy and gf. No ABV or BB date on the bottle. From trade with bursprak, big thanks for this one. bordeaux like hazy color, small white head. smells musty, nutty, marzipan, ripe fruits, bit leathery. nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of cherries, marzipan, nutty, berry notes, some wood, light sweetness, light apples, raspberries. finishes light to medium sweet with very nice fruit and berry notes. very nice one, very nice one, not the biggest fan of the smell but taste is very nice, feels very heavy though, more than the 5% ABV listed here. I very much enjoyed it.
3.8 650 ml bottle, shared by Werckmeister, thanks!. Copper, hazy body, with a small, creamy, beige head. Aroma of cherries, sweet berries, red apples, oak, honey, some spices. Tastes similar, pretty sweet, but also quite rich. mouthfeel, with a carbonation. Finishes sweet, a bit wooden, very fruity, with cherries, apples, cranberries, some other berries. Very nice. Rich, dense and quite complec, with endless amounts of fruits. A bit too sweet for me, but still very interesting stuff. Not much beer character left, this is all about the fruits. Aroma/Appearance/Taste/Palate/Overall: 7/4/7/4/16
4.1 From the tap at the brewery. Very similar to the Rubaeus from Founders Brewery. Pours hazy brown with a fluffy beige head. Aroma is cherries, berries and some vanilla. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet fruitiness. Finishes with a sight sour. Great stuff.

4.6 Hazy reddish brown with a quickly dying foam. Strong raspberry and sweet tart aoma. Sweet red fruit, light tartness, lasting finish. Delicious.
3.8 Bomber share thanks to the world for a good night AndyReynolds. Cider nose with cranberry or raspberry. Sip is tart and a tad sweet. Slight medical finish.

4.4 Bottle share courtesy of Tracy.. Not enough superlatives for this. Gorgeous. Ruby body with small ring of head. Big fruity, jelly jar aroma. Taste is sweet and smooth, nice feel, sweetness lingers. Just damn near perfect.
4.1 750ml bottle pours out a nice red berry color topped with a sand head. Nose is great big fruit mixed fruit notes. Wow. Taste is more of the nice fruit apple cherries berries a touch of tartness and lots of sweetness.
4.6 Bottle. A- Apples, cranberry, cherry, jolly ranchers. A- Red color, hazy liquid, tan head. T- Cherry juice, apple juice, subtle cranberry, sweet, candy. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish. O- Oh New Glarus, why do you tease me with your deliciousness and then be so far away. This is a textbook fruit beer and I want so much more. Tasted like a mixed bouquet of red fruits and candy. Delish.
3.5 Bottle thanks to Mike. Pours murky orange brown. Cherry nose. Very close to Perry’s aged red. No existent carbonation, very sweet. Great Belgian style fruit beer.
4.1 750 ml bottle, I think from Badger Spirits in Beloit, WI, about 3-4 months old, served a little below cellar temp in a New Glarus flute. Pours a cloudy rust-copper with a medium fizzy off-white head that dies away quickly, leaving thick crystalline lacing and a thin lasting ring...fruity, lightly honey-sweet aroma at first seems to be all cranberry, but the apple shows through with some time and perhaps the cherry as well, eventually; also a touch of flowers (lilac) and a bit of perfume - not quite as entrancing as some of this breweries other fruit beers and not, at least in this bottle’s case, quite as potent...but on the tongue it has the usual wonderful sweet-tart-acidic-fruity character as the Belgian Red and other masterpieces; this one is a little softer I think and less acidic, although the finish is fairly strong and there’s a lasting cran-apple note that continues on for minutes after the last sip...strong effervescence, juicy texture that nonetheless offers plenty of pale malt - these things always do in the last judgment taste and feel like beer, and that’s the great tribute to this brewery. I’ve had this probably 6 or 8 times including a couple of times on tap, and this is probably the least impressive sample thus far, though still excellent. Draught renditions had a bit more carbonation and a bit more tartness and some lactic qualities which I like.
4.0 Bottle shared. Pours hazy brown-ish with a fluffy beige head. Aroma is cinnamon, apples, cherries, berries and some vanilla. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet. Lots of fruitiness and almost no bitterness. Light sourness. Great stuff.
4.3 22 oz bottle. Pours clear ruby with creamy off-white/pink head. Aroma is apples, mixed berries, light vanilla, faint oak, and light malts. Flavor is fruit juice with subtle malt notes and faint barrel character. Medium body and carbonation.
3.9 Sweet, red fruits, grenadine, cranberriee, cherries. Clear, dark reddish. Light sour. Immediate sweet fruits coming up, sticky texture, cherries and other red berries, lively carbonation. Decent Fruit Beer, just a touch too sweet for me. Keg at Sportsman Bar, New Glarus.
5.0 Wow! There it is - perfection in a bottle. The aroma was tantalizing when I opened the bottle and upon sniffing the brew in the glass ’ ho ho! Such volatile perfumey scents of apples, cherries and flowers. Flavor is an amazing blend similar to nose but with the added dimensions of perfectly balanced sweet/tat, perhaps hint of yeast. Superb finish. Damn this stuff is good.
4.1 Shared bottle. Pours a reddish brown, creamy light tan head. Aromas of apples, cherries, faint cinnamon finish. Flavors of tart cherries, red apple skins, rhubarb, sweet fruit pie finish. Creamy mouthfeel, dry finish
3.8 bomber shared. poured a slight reddish pink color no real head to speak of. the aroma was of cherry and apples but the flavor was fantastic a blend of cherry apple and cranberry that will blow your mind. you can taste all 3 distinctly and it is so good. excellent job
4.2 Bottle. Reddish copper color. Off white head. Aroma of advertised fruit - apple, cranberry, and cherry. Flavor more of the same, but beautifully balanced. No one flavor dominated. Pretty sweet but with a nice mellow tartness to balance it out. Medium to light body with medium carbonation. Has a sparkling wine quality. Super drinkable, but take your time and appreciate the complexity and craftsmanship. Nice beer for the style.
