New Glarus Spotted Cow

New Glarus Spotted Cow

Cask conditioned ale has been the popular choice among brews since long before prohibition. We continue this pioneer spirit with our Wisconsin farmhouse ale. Brewed with flaked barley and the finest Wisconsin malts. We even give a nod to our farmers.

Naturally cloudy we allow the yeast to remain in the bottle to enhance fullness of flavors, which cannot be duplicated otherwise. Expect this ale to be fun, fruity and satisfying. You know you're in Wisconsin when you see the Spotted Cow.

3.5 Creamy, light, FAC
3.5 12 oz bottle from Jeremy. Medium golden, thin skin of head. Musty aroma, herbal. Taste brings some floral notes, yeast, sweetness.
3.8 12oz bottle pours out hazy straw topped with a white head. Nose is light spice some grain and soap. Taste is more of the nice grain notes spice and some grass.
5.0 Awesome beer! It is the most simple flavored and smooth beer new glarus makes but goes well at any occasion!! Spotted cow blend is so amazing for being what I would call "the domestic" from new glarus. It is 1000x better then the best selling domestics and anyone would love it!! Wish they sold outside of Wisconsin so it was more accessible! Even large towns only across the states, or kegs for bar/restaurant use. Please expand so everyone knows about how awesome all your different beers are!!!!!
3.7 12 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden with tall, long lasting, fluffy white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of funky yeast, bready malt, lemon and piney hops. Body is full and crisp. Piney hops, funky yeast, wheat malt and citrus fruit fill the mouth. Finish is long and dry. Nice brew.
3.0 It's good beer if they took the moon man beer and made it to a light beer
5.0 might drink it even if it didn't have alcohol in it
4.0 Taster showing pale gold with a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows moderately intense clean notes of malt with light hints of farmhouse and barnyard . The palate is well carbonated and light bodied. Mild Belgian forward yeast with the same light notes of cream and clean malt. Clean malty finish. Very nice.
4.7 A classic delicious Wisconsin beer, maybe my favorite beer. Very nice refreshing ale with bright fruity notes and a decent bitter bite. Perfect with bratwurst during a Packers game!
3.2 Draught @ Four Points, Brown Dear, WI. Pours slightly hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma of malt, wheat, yeast, hay, little slightly tart fruit. Flavor is slightly tart, not really sour, wheaty, yeast, hay, light fruti. Medium body, average carbonation. 131119
4.2 An extremely good beer. The biggest problem is that it's only in Wisconsin, such a shame. Believe the hype of your northern friends.
4.0 Great one, Classic, pure style. Pours almost clear bright yellow. Aroma of herbal lagery hops with very interesting hints of horse blanquette and grape marc. Taste fresh, light bodied, plum, hints of citrus and slight cardboard finish which is ok. No bitterness good carbonation. Well balanced. Highly drinkable.
3.2 The famous beer of Wisconsin. A wheat beer that has subtle flavors that linger on your tongue.
3.7 Aroma: Smooth malt aroma, hints if lemon in the background, a touch of yeast noted as well, and on the edges a light hint of soured milk. Hops are low only providing three brightness lifting the malts but not strong. Appearance: a light blond beer, hazy in appearance with a thick white head that persists. Head retention is strong, the texture is mostly medium to small bubbles. Flavor: Hints of banana, low levels of caramel grin the malts with low levels of crackers and lightly toasted. The hops provide a refreshing crispness to the beer, a low level of lemon and a pleasant level of bitterness towards the back of the palate. Mouthfeel: Medium body, with high carbonation. No alcohol warmth noted, low astringency noted from the bittering hops and a slight carbonic bite almost reminiscent of seltzer water. Overall: A very refreshing, crisp beer. Easy to drink, and very enjoyable. Encourages me to grab a beer after a very hot day.
5.0 My Favorite Beer Great taste
3.7 I was given this by my wife. Pours gold with a white head. Taste sweet, light, summery. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.
3.3 Bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy golden color with small white head. Fruity aroma with grain notes. Slightly sweet and also slightly tart with just a touch of hops in the finish. Light bodied. Not bad.
3.3 Not bad, reminds me more of a full flavored lager than anything, especially after being on an IPA kick for a while now.
3.6 12oz bottle at home, via trade from WI. Hazy pale gold with a thin white head. Yeast, earth, lemony citrus, white pepper, barnyard, herbs. Light fizzy carb, light body. Lingering earthy, lemony finish. Very enjoyable, spesh on hot day.
3.5 Klarowne, dość jasne, z ładną pianą. W aromacie fenole, kwiatowość - stylowo. W smaku również fenolowe, trochę gotowanych warzyw, ale też przyjemna goryczka i przyprawowość. Piwo mocno w stylu saisona, choć jeśli to farmhouse to brakuje stajni. Ładnie ułożone i fajnie sbalansowane.Lekko mleczne po ogrzaniu
3.1 Bottle to pint (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; gold with white head. Smells and tastes of mild notes of saison yeast and lemon/lime citrus alongside a mildly semi-sweet backbone. Mouthfeel is medium-light to medium-bodied with a hint of bitterness. Decent and sessionable. I don't get the cult following though. Fat Tire-esque in that regard.
4.6 Everyone on here that said this beer is mediocre or boring must have a taste bud issue or are just prude stuck up B’s. This beer is exactly what you want out of a ale. This is one of my favorite go to beers, the only down fall is that it is only sold in Wisconsin and some surrounding states!
4.2 Above average saison. Nice fruity aftertaste, easy to drink. Nice balance
3.8 A dear old friend who greets me every time I arrive in Green Bay. Spotted Cow is an easy drinking light yellow clear cask conditioned ale. An all around good beer.
3.4 Can pour with a light straw color. Sweet oat aroma. Light coriander and floral notes with a hint of apricot. A great farm house ale!
4.0 Good friend of mine brought this from Minnesota to Ohio. Hes been telling me about these for years now and I finally got a hold of it. It did NOT disappoint at all. Very smooth, creamy finish and just a great beer to have on a hot day. Go get some!
3.2 I suspect this might not have traveled as well as it could have out of state. Not as aromatic as I was hoping, though some fruitiness was still coming through.
4.4 4.8 % i don't care what other people say. One of the best out there.
3.4 Bottle pour into tulip glass from Fresh Thyme, Milwaukee. Appearance is hazy yellow with trace sparkle, finger-width white foamy head with poor retention and trace lacing. Aroma is fruity ester/apple, whiffs of banana and bubblegum. Taste is fruity ester, banana. Palate is light bodied with thin, smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, misclassified as a cream ale IMHO--saison/farmhouse ale is more like the taste (and the brewer's description). Not terribly strong nor complex. Palate is disappointing.
3.0 Golden pour with a white head. Modest nose and flavors. Muted lemon and finishes kinda Belgiany.
