Saison, the original Farmhouse Ale, was the refreshing invention of thirsty Belgian farmers. Wisconsin pale barleys brewed with Grains of Paradise in this bright new copper hued ale. Deceptively approachable, its complicated fermentation incorporates a blend of three Belgian yeast strains and is fully bottle conditioned. Fresh hops snap with lemon zest and peppery ginger notes, lending to its enigmatic personality. Enjoy, as this sassy Wisconsin Saison is at its best thirst quenching drinkability now.

3.6This one poured a hazy straw yellow with a white head. Aroma was of dust, lemon, bread, and grass. Flavor was tangy bread, light fruits and mold interesting saisiny.
3.3Pours a moderately hazy gold - slight frothy lace - nose is moderately citric (lemon, orange zest), mildly phenolic, lightly sweet, lightly grainy - a touch of mineral - the grains of paradise are medium strong and completely unnecessary - they just get in the way - full but soft and frothy carbonation in the mouth - flavor of lightly peppery phenols, mild plastic, moderate banana esters - some tangy citrus notes late, as well as a slight flintiness - light herbal notes on the tail end - medium sweet finish, with lingering spiciness - it’s okay, but not exactly to style - almost tastes more like a wit.
3.9Bottle shared by Kevin who brought it into The Davis Beer Shoppe to share. Thanks guy! Pours translucent gold. Farmhouse aroma. Med body. Flavor is fruity and mildly farmhouse. Smoothly, lightly sweet saison. Not so earthy as some.
3.7Drank from the bottle. Aroma of straw, fruit, and malt. The taste is smooth fruity, straw, and hops. Nice beer.
3.236cl, no mention of ABV, as New Glarus Saison, new American brew Anno 2012, thx to Brigadier!, complex brew, malty/floral and slightly fruity/spicy, balanced, cloudy, good head, nice brew
3.6Purchased at Discount Liquors in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed on a gorgeous late June Sunday afternoon after going to a birthday party while doing some laundry. Also enjoyed in my new Half Acre Belgian glass! Appearance is a bright gold, cloudy, with a thin white rim. Aroma is rich in ale yeast, citrus/lemon notes, light bit of clove, also a touch of light fruit. Taste goes down like champagne, rather bubbly, light fruit notes, bit of pepper, finishes dry. Overall it’s a decent Saison and a good brew.
3.8Sample pour of beautiful golden liquid with a full white fluffed head. Nose is light and pleasant, smooth malt with mild spices and mild sweetness. Maybe coriander, but faint. Flavor follows suit with good spices up front and a mild sweet lingering finish. Easy drinking and smooth. Well done
3.8Pretty yellow straw color and persistent head. Light belgiany yeast nose with some white pepper. Taste follows with some bright lemon citrus and pepper. Nice summer beer.
3.6Bottle to snifter...because it was convenient! Clear apricot co,or pour with lots of bubbles streaming upward to for a dense white head. Head looks like buttercream frosting in the glass with a full coating for lace. Aroma is immediately surprising because of the banana a fruity fragrance. White wine aromas emerge with a nose int the glass. Taste is big, and yeastie with bubblegum followed by citrus pith bitterness. Out of the ordinary bit well done brew.
3.5Pours slightly cloudy gold with a fizzy white head. Aroma of yeast, lemon and wheat. Taste is similar with a bit of peppery spice. A bit too fizzy for my taste.
3.5Hazy golden pour with a nice, thick white head that dissipates pretty quickly. Slightly citrus nose, just a touch earthy. Really nice belgian spice to the taste that lingers in the aftertaste as well. Just a touch organic solvent (phenol-ish) but nice.
3.9Bottle via Eric, thanks. Served in a tulip: Pours a mostly clean golden hue with a big fluffy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of biscuity malts, flowery hops, honey, bubblegum and spicy Belgian yeast esters. The taste is moderate yeast driven spiciness over a layer of pale grains and some light continental herbal hops. The finish is peppery and sprite. The mouth feel is very lively, sharp and refreshing. A solid brew, very enjoyable.
3.7Serving: 12 oz. bottle via trade from madbeerbaron. It pours a cloudy yellow orange with a decent white head. The nose has some Belgian yeast notes, sweet malt, light florals and a touch of honey. The light on the tongue with lots of prickly carbonation. Lots of flavor with floral and pale malt highlighting the yeast notes. Clean finish. Solid brew.
4.0Crisp hazy golden coloured body with a white head - very nice looking and glowing honey at the bottom. Aroma of bright pungent belgian, spicey yeast strain with a lot of bananas, coriander seed, wheat, curacao and more lemons - nice. Full-bodied; Very chewy mouthful with a lot of yeast and wheat flavours, some bubble gum and a very sweet banana and clove finish. Aftertaste shows a hint of herbal notes with a little spice, but this is all about the yeast strain, wheat and sweetness - tastes much more to me like a belgie tripel than a traditional saison - but still a good beer and very nice to try. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Ridgeview Liqour in Green Bay, Wisconsin on 29-July-2012 for US$2.99 sampled at home in Washington on 13-March-2013.
3.4Bottle thanks to adnielsen ! Pour a ripe golden color with a finger of fizzy foam. Aromas have a yeasty fruit forward touch with some rustic grains coming through and a trace of herbal spice. The palate has is bright and direct with some mellow honey pear maltiness holding a round background and bright grassy carbonation rides on top. Interesting well done saison just could use a little more balance in the flavor. Tasty though.
3.8bottle thanks to madbeerman pours a hazy golden yellow, frothy golden head, nose was a bubblegum clove crassy banana a little lemon taste was sharp very crisp slight pepper barnyard after a couple of sips very good
3.9Hazy apple juice color. Small bubbly white head, with some lasting. Effervesant. Aroma is peppery, zesty lemon, spicey, belgian yeast, light fruit. Light Medium body, prickly and zesty, spicey, crisp, hop finish. Flavor is like the nose; lemon zest, peppery, light fruit, Belgian yeast, clove. Very good.
3.6Bottle from the beer fridge in WI. Pours fuzzy yellow with thin white head. Lemon / hoppy nose with fizzy sour edge...very tasty
2.9Medium sized head is off white, fairly lasting with minimal lace. Hazy blond colored brew. Nose of sweet malts, mainly, but some slight notes of melon and grass. Body is light, under carbonated and kinda cloying on the palate. Sweet malts, some vegetal notes, grass and minerally flavors. Sweet finish. Not workin for me.Bit sweet. 12oz bottle from MOTORTODDHEAD, Thanks man!
3.2Bottle... Clear yellow ale with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. The bouquet is fruity, yeasty and spicy - pear, apricot, clove and white bread. Medium-bodied with busy carbonation. The flavor leans spicy and sweet, but there is a small measure of unobtrusive, minerally bitterness that prevents cloying. Nice pear and apricot components. Crisp, spicy, clove finish. Bottle courtesy of landhoney!
3.5Light gold pour with large white head that never leaves. Belgian yeast and slight fruit aroma. Banana and peppery taste
3.7Richmond 19th, thanks Drake! Slight honey aroma, bit of alcohol. Flavor is a match, touch of tartness, bit of spice. Not bad, a touch hot. Alcohol heat a bit out of place in a saison, but not a bad beer.
3.6Bottle. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a smaller white head. Smell is a bit funky yeast, spicy, fruits, cracker. Taste is sweet fruity esters, banana, spice, little citrus, doughy yeast, earthy hops. There is a lingering spice. Medium body with pretty dry finish. Pretty good but not up to where I’d hope it to be.
3.4Bottle from akurzinski - thanks, Adam! Nice bright orange pour, a soft glow and a fast-fading carbonation. Not even much lacing, just a few thin bubbles left on the surface. Body is much fuller, palate fairly lively. But the taste is a bit indistinct, with hints of apple juice, yeast and spice and a dose of dry hops. Enjoyable, competent, but not quite up to NG’s high standards I think.
3.0Sampled at the Richmond Gathering 19. Pours a light hazy straw with ring of white. Kind of a dusty, light peppery, sweet, musty, old lemon zest. Not all that impressed honestly. Meh
3.3Overripe lemon nose, hot. Cloudy yellow, fine floaties, thin head. Lemongrass, crackers. Pretty nice, but rather hot, especially for the style.
3.8RG 19. Bottle. Orange golden with dissipating head. Smells spicy and lightly bubble gummy. Dry and clean. Nice.
3.1From the bottle poured a cloudy yellow brew with a light yellow head. Nice aromas of banana, bubble gum. Medium bodied with adry malt flavor.
3.612 ounce bottle brought back by a friend and shared at the 19th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering. Thanks PJ! Pours a hazy straw color with a large fizzy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of bread, citrus, spice, caramel, herbal hops, tropical fruits. The taste is tart citrus, bread, herbal hops, spicy finish. Medium bodied, lingering spice, faint heat. Nice beer.
