New Glarus Two Women Lager (2011-)

New Glarus Two Women Lager (2011-)

Recipe changed in 2011.

Four thousand years before Christ, Sumerian women created the divine drink of beer. Viking women brewed in Norse Society. European Ale Wives were so successful as cottage brewers they were taxed. Artisanal women lost their domination of the daily ritual of brewing during the Industrial Revolution. Today’s brewing trade is controlled by men. The collaboration of two Craft companies both led by women, New Glarus Brewing Company and Weyermann Malting, is unique. You hod the result "Two Women" a classic country lager brewed with Weyermann’s floor malted Bohemian malt and Hallertau Mittelfrueh hops. A tempting and graceful classic lager found... Only in Wisconsin.

3.4 Pours clear golden with low white head. Aroma of malt, bread, citrus. Taste is sweet, malty, light citrusy bitter finish. Light and smooth body with soft carbonation.
3.7 Crystal clear copper with a white head. Aroma is grassy, dusty, bready with faint fruitiness. Taste is light/medium sweet and light bitter. Palate is medium body, slick with soft carbonation.
4.0 Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce bottle into lager glass, best before 1/5/2018. Pours slightly hazy deep golden/amber color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aroma of big cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nuttiness, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nuttiness/pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nuttiness/pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, bready/grainy, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is an excellent Munich helles! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Nicely rich clean Pils malt showcase, with solid noble hop presence/balance. A very enjoyable offering, and perfect style example.
3.8 12floz bottle, no date, $8/NG mix-six, nonic glass. A polite golden lager. It has an off-white head, damp cereal grain aroma, and a white-bread with a little honey flavor. All enjoyed over a smooth medium-light body.
3.4 Pours a nice amber gold with thin ring of head and no lacing. Aroma is spot on for the style, wheat and fresh grain with a little spice. Taste is sweet, quickly moving to a drier earthy grain aftertaste. Not bad at all!
3.5 Some bread and biscuit in the aroma. Flavor has some lemon, herbal, caramel, and toasty. Palate is spicy with a long sweet finish. New Glarus does there German brew well and this is a very good lager.
3.7 Appearance: honey wheat; no head Taste: nothing special; Miller Lite like 10/21/17 - New Glarus Brewery(WI)
3.0 Bottle. Malty, major yeast. Pretty easy to drink, quite smooth. Better than expected
3.0 Draft - Heavy yeast smell to this really clear pale yellow beer. Tastes of malt and yeast, mouthful of bread really. I do get some melon fruit tastes which is kinda interesting. Clean on the palate so they are subtle.
4.0 12 oz bottle poured into a tulip. Bottle courtesy of DCLawyer, thanks Jason! Aromas of malt, some corn, herbs, wheat. Tastes of malt, sweet corn, some caramel, a bit of wheat. Light body with a dry finish. Nice clean lager. Crushable.
3.7 12 oz bottle from the variety pack, bought at Keyport Liquor in Superior. Aroma is hayfields, herbal, toast, slightly spicy. Pours slightly hazy deep golden with a bone-white skiff of foam. Taste is lightly sweet with flavors matching the aroma. Crisp, clean and refreshing. Tasty for a style I don’t usually care for.
3.5 Bottle, courtesy Drake. Many thanks! Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is crisp brown leaves, grasses, caramel malt, bread, light grain. Flavor is grain, honey, brown leaves, grass, toast. Oh this is much better than I expected.
3.2 12oz (Aleson Wedding)- Deep gold color, nose of bready malt with corn notes. Nice lacing. Sweet initial taste resolving into the toasted corn of mainstream beers. Little hops. Meh
3.2 From the bottle. Aroma is rich worty-malt. Pours mostly clear copper with off-white head that lingers long. Taste is delicate malt. Nothing off here, but nothing too exciting. floral hops on the flavor.
3.3 On tap at the brewery. Deep golden body. Smells a little bready. Tastes of sweet doughy malts up front and then becomes toasty and bready. Very light spicy bitterness. Finish is mostly bready and lightly sweet malt. Light body. More flavorful than the other lager I tried and just as well made.
4.0 From the tap at the brewery. A very drinkable beer-- a mild, and slightly malty lager. Bready malt aroma with hops and some caramel malt. Golden with a big white head, it offers a heavy quality, but keeps the crispness. Not too bitter.
3.4 Pours a clear golden orange on tap with bubbly white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of mild herbal and earthy hops over clean lager base. Taste follows, a great lawnmower beer, and another solid lager from them.
3.4 Bottle; pours clear gold with an off white head; sweet, malty aroma with some caramel, bread, and grass hints; taste is light sweet with malt, bread, and a little caramel; finish is dry and with very little bitters and a hint of grass
3.9 Robe ambrée et limpide. La mousse tient bien. Arômes agrumes, biscuit, céréales, floral. Goût biscuit, caramel et agrumes. La texture est fluide, carbonatation fine. Très bonne lager.
3.5 Pours dark gold with a beautiful thick off white head. Aroma is malty and slightly metallic in a crisp way. Flavour is crisp and refreshing. Finish is slightly malty in a British bitter way.
3.6 Bottle. Clear golden orange with a thick foamy white head. Aroma of breads, grains, and grassy hops. Taste is breads, grains and mild grassiness. Average thickness and very crisp anencephaly clean.
2.5 Flaska från Total wine. Ljust kopparfärgad med beige skum. Lätt maltig doft. Maltig, ganska tråkig lager.
3.5 Nutty hay nose. Clear amber, thick head. Pecan, coffee, hay. Liight body, easy carbonation. Nice and flavorful, could pass for a vienna.
4.2 Bottle, thanks Christina! Bready malt aroma with notes of grassy hops and some caramel malt. Pours clear copper colored with a thin white head that has poor retention and mediocre lacing. Starts with bready malt and good grassy hop notes. Finishes crisp, clean and refreshing with a touch of caramel sweetness at the end. Well made lager.
3.3 Bottle. A- Caramel, bread, malty, grains, subtle barnyard, straw. A- Copper color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Caramel, malty, biscuits, straw, subtle stone fruit. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- I didn?t expect to really enjoy this a whole lot after seeing it was a lager, but I was happy to try it beings it was from New Glarus. Well, NG does lagers right, why can?t they all be like this. Well balanced and while nothing stood out it was an easy drinking beer.
3.8 Another fantastic New Glarus beer. Another German-style beer that’s near-perfect from a technical standpoint. Another great Lager. These are the kinds of repetition I like. Two Women pours golden and sudsy. Straw, hay, and grass on the nose. Bready sweet cereal grain flavors followed by a mellow noble hop bitterness. Light, crisp body. While New Glarus makes this local favorite year-round, this would undoubtedly be at its best in the summer months. In terms of easy-drinking refreshment this has few peers.
4.3 C. Pours a clear amber color with small white head. Not a very good after taste Update 1/18/23 B Much better than I remember
3.5 Solid beer. Nose of caramel and malt. Pours dark gold with persistent head. Taste is a smooth caramel, toffee, bready malt. Not overly bitter. Smooth, full mouthfeel. Slightly bitter finish with some residual sweetness.
