New Holland Beerhive Tripel

New Holland Beerhive Tripel

Little John’s local bees create a spring wildflower-honey that lends a sweet, earthy complexity to a traditional style of beer (triple) with a balancing snap of ginger in the finish.

4.2 Pours a clear brownish amber bordering on chestnut with a thick and mostly fine-bubbled pale buff head. Aroma has a malty base and strong coriander and honey overtones, plus a nice ginger note. Flavor floods the palate with malt, honey, ginger, coriander (or something like it) and earthy tones. Satisfying and lip-smacking! Texture is firm and smooth, and though not fizzy it leaves a flavorful finish with malty, honey and ginger notes that remain long after the beer has gone downstairs.
3.9 The color of this beer is an orange-heavy amber color with a very, very small white ring, and the aroma is reminiscent of honey, spices, and some fruit notes. The taste is quite sweet and slightly sour, and the palate combines a long sweet finish, medium body, slick texture, and an average carbonation.
1.3 Very cloudy amber brown pour with just a thin layer of white suds. Bubblegum belgian yeast in the nose. Somehwat flat carbonation, thick mouthfeel, clean finish. Flavor of cloves and black pepper mixed with buttery belgian yeasts. Over sweet at the finish. Not a huge fan of the belgian profile and it’s kind of watery. Like a beer-flavored sparkling water.
2.8 From 22oz bottle. Potent aroma fit for a tripel. Sweetness to go with the potency. Stays on the tongue, minutes after being drunk. I'm not a great fan of tripels, but this was OK. Not worth going after again, but OK.
2.3 Bomber. A very sweet beer. I think it's sweet enough to overcome most of the yeast. Nice lacing. Just to sweet for me.
3.2 Brilliant amber hue. Too sweet but a tasty brew otherwise ginger is light in the finish and covers the clove. Not bd.
3.5 Reviewed 8-22-10. I picked this one up at the Springfield Whole Foods on a whim. I poured it into a brandy sniffer for consumption. Ap: Bronze in color with a slight head and moderate carbonation. Clarity is a bit hazy but still very good. Ar: Fruit, belgian yeast, and ginger. Honey came through a bit but not as much as I expected. T: Pleasant, but I could use more honey and more sweetness in general. The aftertaste is a bit rough in the beginning, but I slowly warmed up to it. P: The carbonation is pleasant and bubbly, as with most tripels. O: The alcohol and lack of sweetness (bitterness) lingers a bit too much for me to drink it all the time. Overall: This is one of those rare times when I was weary about this one becoming a gimmicky "honey" beer based on the bottle artwork (a honey comb). However, I actually could have used more honey in the actual product. A solid tripel nonetheless.
3.9 Palate is fresh pure honey with a little bit of yeasty readiness. The ginger almost comes across as bitter. I would bet money in a year of aging this beer would be phenomenal!
3.4 Poured from a bomber into a snifter. Pours a nice golden orange with a light that quickly dissipates. The aroma of alcohol is barely there but the sweet fruity bread scent tells me its a Belgium. Definite sweet honey flavor with a peppery malty bread overtone. The balance is nice with a faint ginger finish. Carbonation is minimal & overall find this to be a flavorful Abby Tripel that doesn’t taste like every other Tripel out there.
3.6 Bottle. Honey, apple, plum, and faint alcohol aroma. Hazy amber with a small off-white head. Plum, apple, floral honey, and some light toast flavor. Medium body, soft carbonation.
4.0 Bottle. Honey and apple/orange malt aroma with hint of ginger. Cloudy orange-brown color with small head. Honey and grape/apple malt flavor. Mildly bitter herbal and ginger finish. Very good - pretty different from a standard Tripel but very tasty.
3.8 Pours sparkling, almost clear red/copper with a short tan head. Aroma is yeast, a little funky, pears and other white fruits....honey. Flavour is sweet, yeasty, honeyed and fruited... A little sticky, well hidden alcohol. Very tasty.
3.8 22 ounce bottle into chalice, 2012 vintage. Pours fairly clear orange copper color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of pear, apple, lemon zest, honey, ginger, pepper, candi sugar, biscuit, floral, clove, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of malt, ginger, and yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, honey, ginger, pepper, biscuit, floral, candi sugar, light caramel, clove, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, honey, ginger, biscuit, candi sugar, clove, light pepper, light caramel, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of fruity/spicy ester flavors with the malt, honey, and ginger; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a fairly creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good spiced Tripel. Very nice balance and complexity of malt, yeast ester, and spice flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.
3.8 Botttle courtesy of Strykzone. Thanks. Pours a dark copper with a beige head Nose of yeast and spices. Ginger I think. Medium body. Flavor is sweet with the honey but is earthy at the same time Finish shows some Belgian yeast fruity tones.
2.6 Bottle @ home, courtesy of jcnielsen. Pours a clear, dark orange appearance with a light brown head. Fairly floral, earthy, apple/pear fruity, honey, banana aroma. Well carbonated. Tangy, goopy/sugary, banana, fairly spicy, honey flavor. I didn’t enjoy this one very much.
3.7 Bomber. Copper color with medium head. Sweet honey upfront with a weirdly sour aftertaste.
4.2 Delicious with a truckload of honey and well-disguised alcohol, distinct but still noticeably classic.
3.5 Decent triple. Aromas of banana, yeast and a little bubble gum flavour which adds some funk to this triple. Floral leave with some yeast. Pours clear gold, average carbonation. On tap at Hopcat.
3.8 Bottle. Pours a crystal clear light amber color with a smallish white head. Nose is a little sweet with hints of honey and spice in there. Taste has a hint of sweetness, but is remarkably light and easy to drink. One of the best tripels I’ve ever had.
3.4 Bottle:   Amber, moderate sudsy off-white head, spotty lacing.   Honeydew melon aroma, otherwise very bready.   Shrubby spices up front, malty, meatly, backside shows some of that honeydew melon.   Light ginger emerges as this beer warms.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Comes across as a little sticky, but thankfully not too much.   As far as American Tripels go, this one has a mountain shrub sort of spiciness, a bit earthy and alpine region like.   Interesting, albeit a bit average.
3.8 Tap. Amber with small head. Strong honey, mild ginger bite and extremely pleasant. Very good, unique flavor and complexity.
4.1 Im surprised this isnt rated higher. The ginger & honey are tasty in beer, would like to find something similar... But I doubt it’d compare
2.9 Poured on tap into a tulip glass. Pours a nice clear copper color with a whited head that doesn’t last too long. Aroma is floral, honey, malt, and maybe ginger. Taste is crisp, light malt. The honey does not seem to come through, but it does have a smooth finish. It hides the alcohol really well. Body is light with medium carbonation. Overall a decent beer.
3.7 Aroma: Faint honey aroma with heavy malt and yeast aromas. Appearance: Clear amber with thick head. Taste: Medium sweetness with slightly sour finish. Palate: Medium body, soft carbonation, slick texture, long finish Overall: Very sweet and uncomplex beer. Reminds me of mead, almost. No depth or dimension.
3.5 Bomber to tulip. Looks solid; a semi-transparent burnt-orange with white lacing. Smells and tastes solid too; much like the name suggests. Average on the palate. Good.
3.0 Thanks to TNT for the bottle. Light spice and a bit of alcohol. Touch of ginger. Nose muted. Very dry. A bit boozy. Pepper as it warms.
2.7 I can smell the honey, but the taste is too subtle for me to pick up either that or the ginger. Very light flavor in general.
4.1 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized light tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a softly carbonated transparent red brown colored body. The nice aroma was candy and malty. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish. The flavor contained notes of crystal malt Irish red malt and hops. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.
3.3 A reddish copper ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a sweet honey malt with dark fruits and candy floss. In mouth, a sweet honey malt with grassy hops and light coriander, alcohol. Bottle at Mondial 2012, June 9 2012.
3.5 Bottle. Aroma has notes of honey, caramel Malts, Belgium yeasts, and bread. Medium amber hue with a small head that mostly diminished and left no lace. Flavor is heavy sweet and medium bitterness. Palate is full bodied and oily soft. Overall a good tripel.
