New Holland Cabin Fever (2007-)

New Holland Cabin Fever (2007-)

Robust in character yet smooth in delivery, Cabin Fever is a roasty brown ale and a hearty, comforting companion for long, mind-bending winters. Its rye, roast and raisin notes play off a subtle caramel sweetness and culminate in a dry finish. Excellent with roasts, stews, caramelized onions and snowfall.

3.1 Aroma is typical "brownie" but with a little more roasted malts. Taste is light cocoa and somewhat sweet at first before a pretty rustic roast sets in. Slightly unpolished.
3.4 From the 12 fl oz bottle dated 10/11/16. So, two months old. Brown pour with ruby hues and an off-white head. Slight fog. Sweet breaded and malt aromas in the nose but nothing that jumps out and screams at me. Some nut character. Medium body. This has a notable sweet malt flavor with a yeasty sort of mild vegetable oil thing. Mild bitterness that is barely worth noting...but I did anyway. Basically fits the style - no more or no less.

Pleasant version of the style (Hotel room, Stockholm 24.11.2016).
3.8 Flaska från SB. Mörk, brunsvart vätska med litet beiget skum. I doften stora mängder torkad frukt, kandisocker, torkade plommon, russin, lite råglimpa, fikon. Medelstor. Ligger nära i smaken, men här lite mer syrlighet och rostade toner som balanserar upp sötman bra. Lite kaffebeska i eftersmaken som ligger kvar en stund på tungan. Riktigt trevlig brown ale.
3.4 Backlog, Bottle shared with Pat on Mt. Vernon, pours a brown color with average head. Notes of toffee, dark malt, coffee, and chocolate. Carbonation is light to average, ITs a decent beer for a colder night but probably wouldn’t purchase anymore.
