New Holland Mad Hatter Ale (-2015)

New Holland Mad Hatter Ale (-2015)

Is insanely dry hopped with Centennial Hops. This pale copper colored ale has a flowery hop aroma and a bold hop bitterness. Hop Heads Only Please!

3.5 Draught @ Ginger Man. Slightly hazy dark orange with small off-white creamy head, faint floral hops aroma, medium carbonation, slightly watery hoppy taste, floral flavor remaining after a longish finish. Nice though a bit watery.
3.6 Pours a medium amber color with off-white head. Floral notes and some citrusy pine on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes smooth for an IPA.
3.7 Nice floral aroma and a spicy, slightly resiny hopping. A fairly bold IPA that clocks in at a reasonable 5.25%, very nice.
3.3 Slight darker creamy IPA. Good smooth flavor...couldn’t drink all day but good for a few..
3.7 Nicely done beer. Lots of hops like expected. Could use a little more malt but still nice. First drank: 5/4/15 Vintage: 2015
3.2 Great color, a bit cloudy. Smells fairly strong hop scents, but those smells don't follow through in the hop flavors. After taste is almost malty
3.8 Not bad for a session IPA. Great appearance with a large fluffy frothy long lasting head, and some lace. Color is a slightly hazy honey amber. Aroma is hops, pine resin, caramel. Flavor’s like nose, Bittersweet up front with a bit of carbonic tang, some off flavors in the finish. Body is a tad thin and carbonation a bit light. I recall having this before and it being better.
3.3 Bottle. Golden, hazy, small to average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, caramel and some tropical fruitiness, some grapefruit - piney hoppyness. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel - light bread and some tropical fruitiness, some grapefruit - piney hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish, some caramel - light bread and tropical fruitiness, some piney - grapefruit hoppyness. Sweetish IPA with notes of bread - could use more bitterness (and less caramel).
3.5 Bottle. Clear golden amber color, medium white head. Aroma of tart orange peel. Taste has biscuit, bitter citrus, bitter resin.
3.5 Bottle poured a clear saturated w/ small particulates a golden hue w/ large white foamy lasting head. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ a bold bitter finish of long duration. Tastes are hay and piney hop. Medium bodied.
3.3 I have always understood that an IPA was, by definition, a higher ABV brew meant originally to withstand lengthy travel to India by ship, but here we have a low ABV ale calling itself an IPA. Odd. Never before seen this brand here in Massachusetts, so I gave it a shot. Poured into an English pub glass, it smells good, retains a head, tastes good enough and has a nice hoppy finish. Decent, but undistinguished APA. Might be tempted to buy this again if it was cheaper.
3.8 On tap at Dan's. The pour is a golden color with a decent white head and some great clingy lace. The aroma is big on the citrus and floral hops. Tropical fruits come through on the back end and the smell is just great. The flavor is a bit more malt forward than the nose would lead on. The floral hops and tropical fruits are definitely relaxed. The mouth feel is a touch thin with a good carbonation and a quick fading, albeit mildly bitter hop finish
3.8 Distinctively an IPA but unlike any other. Lighter body, milder hoppiness, more rounded fruitiness. Highly drinkable and quite refreshing. Kudos for the relatively low abv.
3.6 Pours a copperish/rich gold color with a minimal head leaving some lacing. Great aroma of well blended citrus and piney hops, sweet malt and a hint of biscuit. I enjoy how the hop combination compliments the light caramel malts. It's not a huge IPA but has more body than a typical IPA.
3.5 Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Pours a copper amber color with a thin off-white head. Floral hops, pine needles, tree sap, caramel on the nose. Taste is fairly well-balanced with the malts and hops working together. Low ABV but nice resiny flavor.
3.3 Bottle. Pours a clear darker amber beer with a small white head on top. Aroma is rahter floral, some herbal, leafy hops, grassy notes and a malty touch. Flavor is mildly bitter for IPA standards, yet full bodied and hoppy. Guessing it must be an older bottle, most hop characters have faded a bit, but it’s stlll nice and hoppy and certainly enjoyable. Decent.
3.9 Very solid IPA. A little bit less hop bitterness than I would like, but for the low ABV it’s pretty solid. Very dark amber IPA here...and very malty too. This is a good session IPA in my view. Not my number one, but a very good beer.
3.5 Pours a hazy dark amber from a bottle, aroma is a dank pine cleaner, flavor is a slightly malty, rather vegetal taste. But a good beer.
3.4 This beer is like a log cabin built by Abe Lincoln. Solid, and frill-less..... And cold.... Very hoppy for the abv, I am a fan.
3.7 12oz bottle. Pours a light amber with an off white head. Mild hop aromas with notes of citrus and pine. Nothing over the top but a pretty decent IPA overall.
4.0 undated 12 oz bottle served in pint glass. {re-sampled and reviewed on 10/2011 with a sample that was significantly hazy). Pours a nearly clear amber with a 1-finger off-white head. Head has good durability. A - A clear aroma of citrus fruit rising from the table as I pour this beer. Upon closer examination, I find a sweet, complex aroma that is both fruity and floral. There’s a malt backbone here too. T - largely as indicated by the aroma, this is a relatively sweet IPA. I’m sure the hop flavor will be too light for some, but this is the best Amer. IPA I’ve come across for use as an introductory IPA for those used to less hoppy beers. Still, adequate strength of flavor and great quality in this well-crafted blend of hops and malt. Has a substantial hop flavor and aroma, yet has no hop ’bite’; nor is it overly bitter. Perhaps a bit timid for style, but adequate hop flavor for production of a lasting hoppy aftertaste. M - body is a bit light but this is relatively smooth for an IPA and has a nice dryness in the finish. Good carboation. O - excellent choice as a sessionable and fruity IPA. Refreshing; not challenging.
3.3 From a bottle. Pour is medium amber with a one-finger white head. Aroma is fairly weak, vaguely citrus. Surprisingly thick mouthfeel for an IPA, with a hoppy taste characteristic of the style. Finish is smooth with a touch of bitterness.
3.2 12 oz bottle. Pours clear Amber color with light, creamy off-white head. Aroma is citrus, floral and mild herbal notes. Taste is similar with moderate bitterness and the citrus and herbal notes presenting themselves. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, slightly oily texture, lively carbonation and a dry finish.
2.9 Bottle to shaker glass. Pours a slightly orange-ish copper with a decent head. Not too much nose. Mouthfeel on the watery side, and while the hop content is good, it’s not overwhelming. Meh.
3.5 Very nice ipa. Not overly hoppy but a nice subtle balance of hops and flavor. Would be perfect in the summer
3.6 Lovely amber pour into snifter. Piney aroma, balanced flavor although a subtle bitterness that stays in the mouth for some time after. Good beer.
3.5 Bottle to English pint glass. Pours hazy amber orange, suspended particles, two finger white head, plenty of lacing and good retention. Aroma of grapefruit, pine and grain. Taste is mostly bitter with a nice biscuit sweetness. Medium body, average carbonation, creamy mouth feel. Finishes bitter with notes of grapefruit, lemon rind, flowers, blackberry and bread. A solid session IPA.
3.3 Nice looking brownish amber appearance, pretty good fresh hop aroma, piney and citrus with some malty balance. Taste brings forth more maltiness along with some bitter hops - citrus, pine and grapefruit. Ok but more malty than I prefer my IPA’’s.
3.7 bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Hazy dark orange amber color, off-white head cover, bands of lace. Taste is caramel malt that adds solid hops in the palate, both sides moving in tandem through a long finish. Solid brew.
3.1 Light amber, bright head and foamy lace. Pine, citrus, herbal...just the right complexity my palate likes. Nice balance between sweet and dry. $9 99/multi sixer at Wegmans, Leesburg VA
